Flybe 15/16

Flybe have launched their winter flights from CWL. Apparently it may only be a partial release but good to see the same destinations for the winter period. GVA is back for the winter as is CMF on a Saturday.

No surprise that the NWI route has been scrapped by Links Air, would they look at another route as a replacement destination ? Where else could they attempt to make a profit on ? IOM ? GCI ? Obviously not as a daily destination but once or twice a week ? Anymore thoughts or is the J31 going to be simply parked up at CWL in between flights ??

Does anyone know if EIR are going to stay at the airport for much longer of are they going to leave because of the new BE routes? It always seemed strange to me they serve both CWL and BRI.

For the immediate future, I imagine LNQ will concentrate on CWL-VLY and nothing else. With the loss of the DSA-IOM flights things do not seem to be well with them.

EIR offers USA connections so I can't see why they wouldn't stay. EIR competes against Ryanair (3 x daily) at BRS yet have remained there for a number of years in that situation. I would have thought that Ryanair would present a bigger competitor than Flybe so again I can see no reason for EIR to leave CWL.

Incidentally, the CAA stats for May were published today. CWL's monthly passenger total was slightly down on last year at under 106,000 and the rolling 12-month total slipped just below the one million mark.

However, the rest of the year should see some substantial passenger number rises as the Fiybe base begins to make its presence felt.

Vueling (VY) have seemingly increased their offering from CWL next Summer with AGP and ALC going 4x weekly with a Wednesday rotation added from the middle of May.

After looking at the recently released stats, all VY routes performed well in May this year, so the increases for next year must bear that in mind. Also looking at some of the fares for the forthcoming months a lot of flights appear to be well loaded already.

EZY

Might I suggest asking in the easyJet thread, you're much more likely to get an answer there than in the Cardiff discussion...

Shame CityJet have left CWL as I used to make the day trip to EDI and back quite frequently, at present Flybe just have the daily flight now compared to the 2 offered by CityJet.

When the 2nd E195 arrives does anyone know will the schedules increase ??

Efman,

Re your query about Easyjet bases and a/c, see the Bristol ite on PPRUNe as someone has just added what you're looking for.

Here it is... I hope the poster doesn't mind me copying it from the Bristol thread...
Just been looking at the number of destinations served from each EZY/EZS base, and found the results quite interesting.

EZY serves 56 destinations from BRS which is pretty impressive, especially as this means it comes third on the list of number of destinations served from all EZY/EZS bases.

The list below shows the bases with more than 30 destinations served:

LGW - 110
GVA - 69
BRS - 56
LTN - 52
BSL - 51
MXP - 51
SXF - 44
MAN - 41
CDG - 40
FCO - 37
AMS - 35
LYS - 35
EDI - 34

It is now also the fifth largest base with 12 based aircraft (7x A319s and 5x A320s) in EZYs network after LGW, MXP, LTN and GVA.

Any idea on how the Flybe loads are doing after their first month ?

What's the average load factors and best route ? Anything else in the pipeline with the 2nd aircraft due over the next couple of weeks.......new routes ?

All the flybe routes were published with the launch of the CWL base. Edinburgh & Dublin to move 2 x daily Mon-Fri and increased frequencies on all other routes. The Munich will also start operating.

The routes are doing quite well for the first month and no doubt will get busier when the 2nd aircraft arrives.

I see BE are recruiting for more CC, starting in the spring. Wonder what they have planned as surely they should be fully crewed to need the current timetable.

Considering they have dropped the long running sun routes from SOU/EXT this winter I wouldn't get your hopes up too much! NTE, GVA, FRA would be quite easily done on a Q400 though as would all of the existing routes except FAO, so all is not lost.

MJV always had good loads with BMI baby so that will work.....be nice to have PRG back too.

Hopefully those E195's will be used well in the coming months
