In the Cyprus Business Mail......there's also an entry on pprune under Cobalt Airlines.....the article quotes the following:

Cobalt, the Cyprus’ based airline, said that it plans to launch its flight schedule on June 1 which will include flights to London, Paris, Manchester, East Midlands, Glasgow, Cardiff, Dublin, Beirut, Tel-Aviv, Tehran, Athens, Thessaloniki, Iraklio and Chania.

Air 2000 scheduled used to have good loads to Cyprus so hope it happens

"they've pretty much sapped all they can out of the Northern-England market"

I have to disagree, there is way more room for them to expand from their current bases to new destinations. They have carved themselves a very comfortable niche and will continue to do so.

Cyprus based Cobalt Airlines are to begin flights from LCA to CWL amongst a few other UK airports sometime this year using an A320.

TOM release is expected tomorrow with nothing new currently showing for CWL with the disappointment of long haul being reinstated with the 788 at BRS (seemingly). Hopefully more news to come shortly for CWL.

What are these rumours about Jet 2 and CWL ? I know it's a rumour network but Jet 2 seems to be cropping up quite a bit....can only hope this comes true.

Has TOM announced anything new for CWL for Summer 2017 ? I see BRS has got the SFB and CUN again

How was the Flybe launch to VRN today ? What were the loads like ?

I wonder if Flybe will add additional destinations over the coming months

loads on first rotations are nothing to go by,as a lot of pax will be press and travel trade. to judge how a route is doing you want 2 months or more to get a true reading. its not bums on seats you want to worry about its yeild. you will never know yeildas airlines dont release that.first flight i would think cabin crew, press and travel trade so yeild would be just about zero, unless they had a subsidy.

Yeovalley,

I'm increasingly finding your posts misinformed, along with difficulty in understanding in what you mean due to the number of typo's in your posts. How on earth is the yield as you say ever going to be zero ? Are you trying to say there was not one person booked on the flight and therefore nobody bought anything onboard, paid for baggage, seat selection or an upgraded fare ? An audacious claim to say the least ...

BE's loads are improving at CWL, with EDI and CDG consistently now around the 70% mark, GVA upto to the mid 80's, and a few other decent LF percentage increases. KLM will be once again encouraged by the near double digit growth on AMS, a route that consisently experiences growth from CWL, which may see rise to the return of a 4th daily rotation, or upgraded aircraft for even more of the flights.

VY are also going from strength to strength with their staple BCN, AGP and ALC upto the mid 80's, with the latter two in the 90's consistently, so i think the yield that you mention will take care of itself ...

Just to satisfy you Yeovalley (since you seem to enjoy rubbing people's noses in it), CWL will never be a BRS, and it is not even thought that it will be so why the constant comparisons seem to be made between the two I could not tell you.

Like many (secondary) regional airports in the UK, CWL serves its niche core catchment quite well with its current charter and scheduled offerings with traditional holiday flights, with a number of business routes that serve the catchment well, and with its larger neighbour next door is always going to have a rather large leakage of passengers onto BRS services, which has been the case for years and its something that no one can really do anything about.

Not knocking the new route at all. I hope it does well.End of the day it has to give it time to settle down. There is always travel agents on any new route, and press. The return flight would be very light as no pax has been taken to the destination. In the last 12 months cwl has done very well and hope they carry on with what they doing.Any way it always comes back to yeild on any flight. Its a case of use it or loose it. Have a good day.Its 2 am here way past bed time.

The GVA route is seasonal, winter only and AirGuru was just pointing out how the loads increased. Flybe will also be increasing this service to x3 flights a week in winter so are obviously very happy with this route.

Mate, the route hasn't 'finished, gone' anywhere, it's a seasonal route for the Ski market out of CWL, and as mentioned below will be back at an increased frequency next Winter. Misinformed posts on here seem to be increasing ...

Here we go again.

"A low cost operator in 2017" - "From a good old friend of mine"
Jet2
"An announcement in coming weeks"
FR BFS-CWL
All above recent posts. I can't really be bothered reading all of the 321 posts of hot air.

Please stop the speculation and riddles. Let the professionals get on with their jobs and let the announcements be announced officially, to everyone's surprise. It'll be so much better news if/when an announcement comes out.
