I doubt very much if any of the 738´s were to leave the fleet, it would be one of their newest a/c g-cejo which just got winglets. Great news on two more arrivals and good that its N/G´S, thats what we like to hear and good news on getting the TCX programme in EDI.
So have JP and JO swapped for the remainder of the summer then or was that just a blip?

Could the two 738s arriving for 2010 be related to the 787 delays?
Other carriers allegedly are getting deals worked by Boeing to compensate them for the lateliner, so if GSM were offered a brace of 738s at bargain money then it would be worth their while to replace some of their existing leased aircraft when possible. Buy in the cheap 738s and then sell them on to a lessor in a sale/leaseback like FR and U2 do. Generates a nice few quid for the bottom line as well.
With deferrals of 737s also happening GSM may have got plum early slots in addition to bargain pricing.

BAladdy has it right...................
Downsizing for the winter and back to the current size in the spring.
ACMIs are few & far between this winter, with most airlines offering airframes up for work.
Whitehatter. we lease all our aircraft from ILFC (including the 787s) so no sale/leaseback options I'm afraid.

Still got it, and a lot of other M.O.D stuff as well.
The Falklands winter weather can make it interesting, but it's all been going very well !

Apart from a two day delay this week due to the snow in Falklands. However as stated, Globespan has been well received by the service people who fly with them, certainly much better than previous carriers.

habs_fan, you are very well informed then….
The very nice girls in duty free and the great folks at Costa all work airside and I’d question their airframe/jet turbine knowledge too if need be, so, what exactly do you do at EDI??
JP is a fine machine.
The “unstable structor” you refer to was the result of some dim witted ramp agent driving off with the GPU still plugged in to the GSU. Thus resulting in a small fracture between the inner skin and the receptacle flange. As I’m sure you are aware this is a two layered formation, which Boeing had no specific repair procedure for, as I understand it, at that time.
As with any crack, they are sighted, repaired or monitored. In this case, it was monitored and then repaired. I think this particular airframe was out of service for all of one day.
As for the engine issue, what are you referring to? JP had only one issue with her engine, which is well known and as of the last time I flew her, of no issue at all.
So, without trying to sound too condescending – use a spell checker before posting on a professional forum, provide accurate and knowledgeable information!
Please elaborate further, with specifics!!
TIA

738 Returns
For Info
CDEG and CEJP are being returned to CIT and not ILFC. As ACMI work for the 73s isn't forthcoming over the winter GSM will return the a/c and will be in a position to take more a/x next season when a/c are cheaper.
2 X 738s in GLA this winter
2 X 73Gs in EDI
1 X 763 in BZZ

Winter 09 has a reduced fleet:
3 B738s
2 B73Gs
4 B763ERs
2 B738s at GLA
2 B73Gs at EDI
1 B763ER at BZZ
3 B763ERs ACMI work over W09.
There have been some adjustments to the Winter schedule for shorthaul.
GLA:
ALC - 2 weekly, from 4
AGP - 2 weekly, from 4
EDI:
ALC - 2 weekly, from 4
AGP - 2 weekly, from 4
PMI - suspended W09
ABZ loses AGP for W09.
Overall, flight times for most flights changed to early morning departures. Looks like GSM are making sure that their flight times are good with reduced departures.
Summer 09 will be released next week. Should be back up to 5 B738s for S10, with a further 2 B738s being introduced to the fleet early spring 2010.

If GSM are taking over from MON at EDI how do they have enough capacity to do this as well as their own flights ? Or does this mean a scarcity of seats and therefore sky high prices ? Will they get rid of routes like Nice and Dubrovnik ?
GSM ops this year at EDI have not been too bad but my impression their turn round times are too short , particularly on Canary Island services ( which are hardly ever on time back into Scotland ) and also AGP is very tight too at 7 hours 10 minutes .

GSM flights on sale with Thomas Cook are seats that have been bought onboard the scheduled flights operated from EDI.
Looks as though EDI will see increased frequency on TFS and SSH for S10.
