Could the two 738s arriving for 2010 be related to the 787 delays?
Other carriers allegedly are getting deals worked by Boeing to compensate them for the lateliner, so if GSM were offered a brace of 738s at bargain money then it would be worth their while to replace some of their existing leased aircraft when possible. Buy in the cheap 738s and then sell them on to a lessor in a sale/leaseback like FR and U2 do. Generates a nice few quid for the bottom line as well.
With deferrals of 737s also happening GSM may have got plum early slots in addition to bargain pricing.
