Davyday please could you explain to me what "ATOPS" stands for? Not heard that one before.
It would appear though that you seem to enjoy knocking an airline for the pure pleasure of knocking an airline. At least GSM is trying to build a Scottish Airline, serving the people of Scotland. In that process there are bound to be problems and mistakes. Then again maybe YOU are squeeky clean, and never made any mistakes.
I believe though that the CAA accepted GSMs explanation and retraining to permit them to once more operate across the pond under ETOPS.
So let's inform the staff and public of that fact shall we?

Referring to Webbys post about expansion.

While I think It would be interesting to see GSM operate to LAX, SFO or indeed BOS again is there a market for these places out of Glasgow?

As far as I am aware, for the period they ran Glasgow - Boston they couldn't fill a 737, even stopping off in Knock.

I think if there going to expand anywhere in terms of longhaul next year it will be to the Carribean. Cuba, Domnican Republic, Jamaica. There would be far more demand for these destinations, especially if they were reasonably priced.

Can't see much more Canadian expansion nor anything else into the USA, except maybe Las Vagas.

In terms of Short Haul...well that could really involve anywhere, Croatia from Glasgow Maybe? Cape Verde?

We shall see I guess, all we can do at the moment is speculate.

Regards,

the one route i would like to see happen in s10 would be a EDI-SFB even if it was only 1x weekly in the summer like BFS, but as gd44 says we can only speculate.

and have made a nice profit from selling the B736s too
Did they own the 736's? Thought they were leased?

All 4 x 736 were owned.
davydavy as one of the 2 engineers involved with the "sending the A/C over the atlantic" and safety violations would you please detail what you "THINK" you know about this? I no longer work for FGS (nothing to do with the alleged violation) I have no axe to grind but want to know what your perception of this (alleged) incident was/is, as this was 2 years ago it would seem to me to have now died a death FGS were fined so the case is now finished and the CAA would seem to agree.

Matkat well said, as one of the pilots who flew across the atlantic on ETOPS.
(maybe we should have been doing ATOPS)
I too would like to know what DD has to say.
Yes the CAA did take away etops and then they granted it again at a full 180 minutes for the 767.

DD do you not think that the CAA would have their eyes closely fixed on GSM and would be checking more than usual to make sure of compliance with their
CAA procedures
By all means you are entitled to your opinion and this is a rumour network.
But lets have some facts instead of informing the people of what you think is happening.

You mean if. They're worth more to sell on than for GSM to take them and operate them.

GSM do not have any B787s on order with Boeing.
So they can not sell them on, rather than operate them.

Think been mentioned before.

Summer 09

Aberdeen
1 B73W (GSEFC)

Glasgow
3 B73H (3 from GCEJP/GCEJO/GSAAW/GCDEG)
2 B763 (GSPNA + one other of GCEOD/GCEFG)

Edinburgh

2 B73H (GDLCH + one other from Glasgow)
1 B73W (GMSJF)
This week from Edinburgh, a number of W patterns will be flown from Glasgow, as GCEJP is going for maint, prior to rejoing operations from Edinburgh or Glasgow

One B763 on MOD work and another on lease.

GSM Scot may be able to confirm if this is correct

Thanks for that Scotsunflyer!!!

Mr @ Spotty M: don't understand what your meaning, we know the 787s aren't on order with boeing but with the ILFC. Due during 2011.
Was asking if the 763's will be returned to the ILFC once the 787's arrive or if teh will be kept on for ACMI and extra a/c for when the good times return?

I was referring to Skipness One Echo post, "They're worth more to sell on than for GSM to take them and operate them."
In that they can not sell them on.

The B763 is operating the GLA to AGP and LPA route today, as GCEJP is in Bacau on maint. Two Glasgow aircraft also doing W patterns through EDI today. Should be G-SPNA
