Anyone know why G-TUIF on flight TOM174 (MAN - CUN) landed at TER (Lages, Azores) today?
BTW: G-TUIC is on it's way home from Vallarta, but seems to be flying slowly ... will take an hour longer than expected

I see that Thomson are still in full swing of B767-300 operation on Short Haul for the summer period. Does anyone know when they will stop 763 operating out of LGW and the FCA 763's out of MAN as I thought it was for the Summer Holiday duration only? Furthermore, will there be any 763's around for the winter operation?
Many thanks.

There are two more dreamliners coming towards the end of the year - and the two FCA 767's are going, The Thomson ones have a few years left.
Tui Nordic have also got two dreamliners coming - my guess is they'll be delivered in 6-7 months so they'll get those for the summer season.
Now we usually see TUI Nordic using a Thomson / FCA plane in the winter, I'd guess they'll get cycled in on the Thomson Dreamliners for this winter.
As for the other planes:
Europe cools down - so the only 'short/medium haul' flights that will be going that want a 767 would be Sharm and the Canaries (could you take a 767 to Cape Verde? - I thought the airports were too small for more than a 757)

Sal and Praia are fine for 767... Boa Vista is too small though..
But PMI and the like will always warrant a 767 now and again.. Sending one of those instead of two 737's has to be more economical..

Yep, Boa too small for 767's.
As they phase the 752 out, I do wonder what they intend to use to BVC. I know they do it occasionally with the 738's, but these are often diverted or have to do a fuel stop if the conditions aren't right on BVC. I know they had to do refuels at Faro several times last year whilst operating the 738's on that route. Or would that no longer be a problem with the new MAX with several hundred miles more range?

BVC has no suitable let down aids so its the airport that lets you down when the aircraft cannot get in. BVC reguarly has some low clouds that are at about 1000" agl, the only aid is an NDB letdown that must be flown in its entirety for whats known as a cloud break procedure. The NDB serves runway 21 but the predominant wind is always northerly so land on runway 03. The authorities really need to invest in a GPS approach for runway 03 as most of the Thomson fleet is now fully approved for GNSS approaches, there is no outlay for ground equipment, just pay to set up an approach!!! But I guess that the airport tax you pay never actually serves the actual airport.
Also, there are few, if any runway/approach lights so there can be NO night flights to/from the airport.
The current 737 is probably at the limit of its range and I don't know how much better the Max will be. BUT....the 757s will be around for at least the next 6 years

Glad to hear they will be around for a while yet. Nohing quite like their acceleration.
I remember taking off from BVC on a very hot day. Never seen flaps set at almost landing angle for takeoff before. Seemed like the slowest take off and I thought we wouldn't get enough speed to rotate.

What a/c
Folks sorry to be a pain. It's been such a long time since I've flown on any other airline than the one I work for!
Anyone know what a/c thomson use from Stn/ayt on 1715 flight on tue 30th and Lgw/ayt at 1625.
Also anyone know what the difference is between seats with more space that are £40 return and extra legroom that's £50. Basically which are the exit row??.
Thanks

Extra legroom are the ABP seats.
Extra space seats have a pitch of 34 inches and take up the first three rows of the 737 (behind the bulkhead row) or on the 757 they are 8/9/11 I think. These seats are not age restricted. They also have the added plus that the armrests life and you can recline.

Extra 'space' from memory are behind a bulkhead and supposedly benefit from people not reclining into you but often bulkhead in fronts and you can't stretch legs so much. Not great in my opinion if you want to stretch legs !

B757/B767
LadyL2013 - the 752 is planned to be in the fleet until 2020, summer 2019 will still have 8 of them
The B763 is planned to be in the fleet until late 2019, with summer 2019 operating 3x B763

Anyone happen to know what "Fr disp" actually stands for on Jethro's fleet listings. It's been puzzling me for a while now because it relates to the retirement date of the aircraft, as in "Fr disp Win19/20".

Thanks for that re the 752's. Going to be around for longer than I thought.
Came back from RHO last night. 141 pax were supposed to be on board, but they could only account for 140. After about half an hour of counting and at least a dozen counts up and down the aircraft, the missing passenger was 'found'. My question is, where do they suddenly appear from? Everyone was asked to remain seated and not use the toilets as soon as they knew of the discrepancy. No one else boarded the aircraft.
