Well said Hooded. I was disappointed when Thomson went GE when many of their customers work for Rolls Royce.
They have RR engines on their 757s, they seem to work well. I wonder if they regret not flying the "RR" flag on their engines!

9 hours late Yesterday, 6 hours today - but orangestaad was also 4 hours late today ... I think they'll catch up quickly with some shuffling and swapping of planes.
For regular repairs, Monach are doing them - they certainly have engineering facilities, with trained staff to handle 787 in Birmingham and Manchester and probably most other paces it will fly from.
Monach are also doing 787 routine maintenace for LOT - the Polish airline.
Oh, The GE engine uses 5% less fuel than the RR - that probably swayed it.
Once the school hols are out of the way, I wonder if any of the flights will be empty enough that they could use one of the FC 763s to catch up?

When did you see any TOM B787 in a MAEL hangar?
They should not need a hangar for the first couple of years, providing all goes well.

Even a big Foxtrot Oscar discount would be eaten up in fuel costs over time. Happy to be corrected though....

That is incorrect. Earlier models of the 787 monitored with competing engines were seeing up to a 2% better fuel performance with the GE's. However now its probably closer to 0.5% in better average fuel burn on the GE's.
The GE's give a better performance during cruise and as common with RR engines they give a much better performance during take-off, climb and descent stages of flight. So I guess if you're planning on flying the longest sectors of this aircrafts capability, cruise performance might be a higher priority...

I stand corrected on the fuel saving.
With G-TUIE having serious problems on both engines in first 2 months of flight that required shut down of one in flight and replacement of the other.
I'm just wondering if those failures would effect the recent ETOPS 330 rating the planes were granted.

Not100% sure how ETOPS works but I would imagine that if their In Flight Shutdown rate creeps above a pre determined figure then yes the ETOPS clearance could be rescinded or reduced.....

Extra space seat B767
Does anybody know where the above are on a B767, not ex Leg...due to fly MAN-ALC, according to all previous records this has been on OBYG & OBYH..but it doesn't seem to be a B757 as the turn around is 1hr 15 mins...
Will there still be the ex First Choice B767 around in Nov??

If you can book extra legroom & extra space then it's a 738 or a 757 as the 767 only has extra space.
Row 15 c-e, 34 a&b and 35 c-h are all extra space on the ex tfly 763 reg you mentioned
Ex fca reg aircraft are continuing to fly all the way thru winter 14/15 with a longhaul rotation every day from manch and the regional cruise flying to MBJ for the Thomson Dream

I don't know if anyone has posted it, but...
Thomson is launching MAN-XRY flights once a week eff from 02MAY until 28OCT 2015.
On the other hand, it is cancelling LGW-XRY route operated during Summer 2014.

Don't worry, you'll be on a Dreambird to PVR.... They won't risk the 767 not having the puff to make it in one go!!
