Interestingly they used an A310-324 on the Weds flight which was a first visit as they usually use the -308s. I believe the -324s are configured differently, as well as being PW powered, and seat more so unless this was a one off to cover a tech issue maybe they are looking at more capacity.
I would be surprised however if they used 777s as they would be restricted off the LBA runway unless conditions were favourable. Maybe they'd be better looking at a lease on some 787s for this route!

Knowing my luck, they'll probably start this week,am flying to SSH with Jet2 next fri!.
I'd like to know how they plan to fill in the semicircular terminal building without causing massive disruption, but what do I know I'm not an architect!.

PIA
I've just been on the PIA website looking for a flight to ISB but can't find any availability outbound for March through to May! Flights are available ISB/LBA through these months so are the outbounds full? I noticed also that the returns on Monday seem to disappear in March or is this a case of all flights full? I'm hoping that this is a website glitch as I don't want to have to look at MAN/BHX for the outbound.
Edit: forget the second quetion re Monday flights I've just read the post about reduction to twice weekly!

If the Monday flights are sold out, why are PIA dropping them, and taking the service to MAN.....I hope it is for a 777 service from Leeds!!!!..... saying that, the pia web site still has the remaining flights from LBA/ISB as an A310 aircraft????

Work to start at the end of the summer......why does it always take LBA longer than necessary to start doing anything!!!!! this work was supposed to start early this year......Bridepoint need to pull their finger out, there is too much work needed at LBA, apron, runway, taxiway..ground radar...Come on Bridgepoint, get on with it...............

Runway 32/14
In one post you opine that works starting in April would cause chaos for easter / summer then a few posts later complain that they should be getting on with it & not waiting till Nov!!
I suspect your first point may well be behind the delay - if the process is planned to take over a year to complete (& in view of the ongoing recession) then planning the work to start after the summer season seems sensible. Better to disrupt 2 winter seasons than 2 summer ones surely???

Construction!!
Erm, that was my point!!!! work should have started early this year, then they said work would start in April, and now they are saying that the building work will start in November.....Why they cant decide a start time and get on with it is beyond me............delay after delay....
The recession should work in LBA's favour, price of building material and labour (wages) will have dropped, or the contractors might work with a reduced labour force, i would imagine that things are a bit more negotiable now, this is of course Just my opinion....

Changing the subject. I cannot understand what KLM's policy is regarding LBA.
On Thursday morning the early morning flight was cancelled.
The previous foggy evening the aircraft diverted into Manchester. All pax were re-booked during the night to various destinations.
I was eventually sent in a taxi to Manchester but not to catch the KLM, to travel to Paris with AF and a connection 5 hours later to my next destination.
I noticed the next day, the aircraft was stuck in DSA but the flight was cancelled. Would it not have mean't less cost and hassle for the flight to depart late from DSA.I just do not understand.

Well LBA dont get me started! everytime we go through the place its a joke.
We are British citizens? so why is it more difficult for us to get back into our country????
On a flight back to Leeds from Girona Wed 3rd March we got through security collected our bad and then was made to queue to have our bags scanned???
there was a Spanish lady behind us who got let straight through and everyone else who didnt hold a British passport was allowed to go through without their bags being scanned?
I asked the question as to since when do we need to have our bags scanned to come back into our country and was told that it was a spot check? Why were we not told this before? the security guy went silent when i asked how come the passengers on foreign passports were not included.
I ask a few questions of LBA security:
a: Why not smile and be polite, it doesnt cost anything
b: Why do you need to shout at people and act like little hitlers?
c:Why can we get through passprt control in another country and it take less that a few seconds?

Possibly some intelligence that a British passport holder had something dodgy in their luggage? I would expect security and immigration officials to be stony faced and not disclose what they are doing; it doesn't happen that often and I am very prepared to put up with it for what is, after all, our security and well-being.
