The option to NOT swop onto another carrier if you miss your original flight...or the option to find your way home from BFS after you have been dumped because your carrier only flys into a part time facility. Airlines should be in competition ...NOT AIRPORTS

Yes and we now haven't got decent facilities at either. If we had one airport handling 7m+pa, what sort of airport would we now have. Better public transport links, better eating choices, a better choice of routes perhaps? In the long term 2 airports will not benefit NI Plc because there are some things that need a critical mass, and airports are one of them.

On the other hand, you could look 100 miles to the south and thank god that you don't have a monopoly airport. A monopoly could just mean trying to squeeze 7 million through BFS with no extra facilities...

ProBHD, I think the 'arrogance and naivety' you refer to, was more attributable to an individual than the airport as a whole. And isn't it also interesting that a number of the people involved in the original relocation project are now at the other place.

Summer 08 Jet2/Zoom

I know this was asked before but couldn't fine an accurate answer...

Jet2 flights to Milan Bergamo for summer 2008, have these ceased from BFS. It appears on the website (jet2) that only Leeds Bradford getting flights from Milan, summer 2007 if i'm correct had EDI, NCL and BFS. Are all these being dropped, or still to be released??

Also Zoom, unable to book Toronto or Vancouver from BFS summer 2008. Both still bookable for the winter schedule, surely at least the Toronto route was profitable, twice a week, once via Halifax. And Vancouver must have pleased them enough to continue service through the winter...

As far as Bergamo goes it is probably dropped from EDI since the new French routes there appear to replace BGY plus EZY do EDI-MXP. NCL didn't have a LS BGY service this summer (FR do that) but MAN did

Little has been said on here about Ej`s new(ish) routes out of BFS.
Can anyone really imagine that 3 carriers can successfully operate to Barcelona and Prague without someone losing out in a bloodbath.

Elle May Clampit, did you mean to put that "w" at the start of whole? Only joking , i`m taking a flight from the dark side of the mountain next week so be gentle with me as i`ll have just had a long drive into the countryside.

Who is the 3rd carrier to Prague!!
I would say LS would be the first to drop Barcelona going by their past history Cork, Bournemouth etc. Sometimes I do wonder about routes eg there are now 2 flights to Venice throughout the winter etc (I suppose winter is maybe the time to visit Venice cooler and less tourists).
EI could have started with a few new destinations in Germany etc rather than going in to BFS with guns blasting. All the talk about expansion with regards to EI once they are up and running, I wonder if the early morning departure to LHR will be added next summer once a few slot issues are resolved-they have stongly hinted at it recently, and they need all the competive edge they can get against BD. If LS drop Milan EZY/EI probably would be tempted to take it up. As for T/A from BFS expansion is inevitable

With LHR slot pairs trading for more than £10m on the grey market one has to wonder just how many years of operation it would take Aer Lingus to make such a figure of profit on BFS-LHR?

Its a funny old business.

Agreed. I see an early BFS-LGW rotation in my summer crystal ball. That'll put the cat amongst a few pigeons.

Ryanair @ BHD

Someone asked for a photograph. This shows EI-DWD landing on RWY 22 on 5 Nov, surface wind 310 deg. gusting 28kt.

Any comment? They're going to need to redesign the security area, thats for sure. I don't know what fool designed it but he was clearly off his rocker. It can't cope at the minute never mind when expansion takes place.

Nice to see FR demonstrating the tried-and-trusted crosswind landing technique with wing and nose pointing out of wind. No wonder they need a bigger runway.
