One round trip per day - morning departures monday to Saturday and just after 12.00noon on Sundays.
Flying time is given as two hours five minutes - presumably it's a Dash 8 - 400

Re: BE BHD-CDG

Glad to hear of this new service!
Is something being cut to make room for this new service?

Why would anyone want to travel on a flybe Q 400 to CDG? If they don't make this route a EMB190 operation with fares to match Easy the route is doomed to fail. It does however send the message to the NI public, the 'folks on the hill' and the airport that the runway is long enough for their brand of international routes so why extend it.
flybe are trying their best to move Ryanair to BIA but that is not going to happen.

Just tried to book flights to Galway and they are available in the summer timetable (I tried May)which is after the introduction of the Paris flights....hm!

Does anyone know what type of a/c they will use? Q400?

The Galway route is in flybe's timetable through Summer 08 on Tues, Thurs and Sat.
Rennes is in for the summer (Sat) as is Newquay (Weds and Sat)
Galway, Paris, Rennes and Newquay flights all set to be operated by Q400s.

The Q400 is a comfortable aircraft and operate the majority of the CDG services (Except the odd few which are 145s)

I am sure those people who would rather fly locally from BHD will not worry too much about the aircraft type as long as it flies and does not take all day. Two hours is not too bad and once your up, settle down with a G+T, paper and pringles and before you know it your landing.

A couple of questions:
1. What is the aircraft with the yellow tail i see regulary departing bhd?
2. Where do international passengers get there passports checked on arrival at bhd?
3. What happened to cityjet's proposal of flights from bhd to paris?
4. Finally is there any chances of more german routes by aerlingus jet2 etc

All answers gratefully recieved

Can help you little.
1. Aurigny ATR72 ops for Flybe atm.
4. Always talk of Air Berlin returning to do a DUS or Paderborn service. Big market not filled in my opinion from NI.

One hour forty and a reasonable expectation of returning to the airport where you parked your car sounds better to me!

BHD are working with Customs and Immigration to put in place the required facilities for scheduled international flights. Building work is going to need to start fairly soon on the arrivals end of the terminal to have it ready for flybe from CDG, but the plans are already in place.
We all look forward to the opening of George Best Belfast City International Airport next summer.

One hour forty and a reasonable expectation of returning to the airport where you parked your car sounds better to me! Yesterday 22:14

Also if there was only one airport, one could drive to the airport catch the early BE flight to cdg then maybe the following day return with the late EZY, walk out the door hop in car - easy uncomplicated. At the moment its just a farce!!!!.

I believe Michael O'Leary was in Belfast this morning to speak at the First Trust Business breakfast meeting in the Waterfront Hall.

I understand that it was giving it loads about the requirements for a 600m runway extension and the promise of many new direct routes when it arrives.
Stressed that there was no pressure on the airport that if they didn't deliver in the short time that they would be pulling out. That's good to hear anyway !

Looks like the airport have struck gold with MOL championing their cause for the new runway ?

I very much doubt that an afternoon arrival will go anywhere else than BHD.....usually the night flights which are delayed that go into BFS.

And of course the dash is so reliable that an afternoon flight would NEVER turn into a lateflight....well after 2130....extensions? Flybe need not apply

Tried to check-in at 5am recently for the 7am to Gatwick with BE from BHD. At 5.30am the growing queue was still waiting for check-in staff to sit down at their desks (they were too busy chatting and finishing cups of coffee)...meanwhile the BMI staff next door had no queue to worry about as they were courteously dealing with their larger numbers with their own larger numbers...passengers simply had to walk up to one of the queueless desks...

Now try to tell me that this sort of service, only to sit on a slower aircraft, would encourage me to fly with BE to CDG...sorry, but EZY (or hopefully EI in future) will get my business anytime.

I try to be reasonable in my assessments of people, but any time I have flown with BE recently the service has been very poor...they rank marginally above FR in my book at the moment. And as BFS is handier for me, there really is no choice...

Not good service but in fairness I have to say I've experienced exactly the opposite situation - no-one checking in the first bmi to Heathrow with a huge queue forming while at least four or five Flybe desks were open and its passengers were already passing through security.
I've no idea why this should happen but I wonder if staff slightly stagger the early check-ins to avoid too many people heading for security at once.

Jet 2 to drop Prague

Just heard on local news that Jet2 will be dropping their Prague service from next March. They are blaming 'seasonal factors'. With easy now operating the prague route, which was full yesterday, and also now Barcelona, what is the future for the Jet2 BCN route?

I know that easyJet are probably the real reason for their withdrawal....but what does the phrase seasonal factors normally refer to?
