Well said Mr MM.
Its why most people have given up reading pprune because of all these idiots.

Constructive criticism only please. If I wanted to know about any delays I would log onto the relevant site, pprune should not be used for that!

GSM has come a long way, it might not be getting it right all the time, but its trying!

Yes, it is very trying!

Would you care to name this site that logs the track record of each airlines delays then Mr Blue Eyes ?

As I have mentioned several times in the past years, if you are involved in handling property owners/tourists when they arrive at a resort, you need to know of delays and persistant bad performers, so that hopefully you can dissuade their usage, as all they do is involve us in unrecoverable costs and unhappy staff asked to work unsociable and long hours as a result of these delays. It does not help us either to have someone arriving who has suffered a long delay, as they are ready to complain at the slightest thing they do not like, as a result. We cop the flack that should be directed at the miscreant airline.

I also with GLAGAZ have praised and watched GSM over the past few years, but, criticism where it is due they have had a hec of a problem with long haul recently and major delays over the past week, they should have leased/chartered in an aircraft/airline for 1 or 2 days to bring them back on track and maybe even get them a little ahead of schedule.
From a passengers point of view they are failing a lot of people when they could be heaping praise on themselves.

get it right soon or passengers will vote by their feet by not re-booking.

Like some others on the thread, I'm a fan of what Globespan are trying to achieve, and I genuinely wish them every success.

However it has to be said they have really shot themselves in the foot with the summer launch, and their habit of changing seating options and bringing in double drops on flights booked as direct is bound to be a bit galling for the unaware.

Let's hope they are back on track soon.

I agree with a number of posters over the last few days and l had previously posted that the BBC TV programme Watchdog is bound to be doing a report on them before the summer ends.
Please note however "sparkymarky" all the flights to the USA & Canada are direct, they are not however Non-Stop.

Well, the good news for those who think that 31 hour delays should not be discussed as it makes Glabespan look bad and we should not be doing that, the GLA-SFB flight took off only 17 mins late this mornig. As has been said, this is the direct flight, but direct via Belfast. Nice.

direct/non-stop in my book would be airport A to airport B with no stops at all.

services to US are not all direct or non-stop
GLA to SFB either via BFS or fuel stop in Canada is not direct or non stop
GLA to BOS are not all direct or non stop via NOC
all LGW to YHM are not direct or non stop
LPL to JFK are not all direct or non stop via NOC

Non-stop = no stops

Direct = one or more stops without changing aircraft

Actualy a direct flight can indeed have an aircraft change as well.

I seem to recall some of the BA Citiexpress/BACON flights used to be sold as GLA-FRA for example. GLA-BHX was on an ERJ and then you would change planes to BHX-FRA on an RJ100. Two totally separate flights apart from a shared flightnumber.

Indeed, AA55 is now shown as MAN-LAX ( via ORD) & is of course, a plane change at ORD.

You can fly Non stop EDI & GLA to New York .You can fly Non -stop GLA MCO over the summer with Virgin.

Selling something you do not deliver is the cardinal sin in any business and there seems to be a lot of that going on with GSM .We can argue over the semantics on this site .The bottom line is that there are a lot of customers out there who have not had the difference explained clearly to them or who have booked premium seats to turn up on the day and not get them.

That is no way to build a long term business , far better to have done one route and really made a go of it. it all seems to be spread a bit thin .

Tis much harder to get a customer back after you have lost them than it is to attract in the first place.

I hope they do well as i am all for crew jobs in Scotland , this all smacks a bit of Cougar/Excalibur.

Mr Blue Eyes / Mr M..M... The reporting of facts is not necessarily criticism, neither do I see any particular bias or attempt to 'slag off' GSM. This is after all a GSM thread dealing with GSM's current issues, there is no compulsion to read the postings. Unfortunately sometimes the 'truth hurts' and those connected with GSM may find it a little unpalatable. As a fare paying punter all too often suffering delays, the one thing that gets up my nose more than anything else is the 'condescending attitude of denial' that is so often displayed when things don't go to plan. Please do not adopt this attitude on this forum.

You appear to be wrong in your ascertion of this thread Evileyes.

An airline that has not one, but several flights operating over 6 hours late
(especially in excess of 24 hour delays on long haul and 7+ on short haul) continually, and the reasons for that, is worth discussing, before, hopefully not, snow ploughs are parked infront of aircraft and several members of Joe Public have lost their money.

Does the industry no good whatsoever. That is the big picture.

You may view it as "spotters" talk, which is your personal opinion , but many others connected with the business, even loosly, may beg to differ with you on this occasion.

Lets see what next weekend brings before you become dogmatic. They may get their act together, but there again, one swallow doesn't make a summer!
Only repeated better performance is acceptable.

The "direct" nature of these flights may be adding to the problems, with delays experienced every time a stop is made and passengers to be uplifted are tardy getting to the gate, with slots missed. There is also the continual repositioning of aircraft and crews to the various UK departure airports. GSM need to take an urgent look, as what appeared on paper with their own aircraft, may not be working that way with the aircraft and flight crews now being used.

BTW: no flight numbers have been mentioned so far.

Whereas all of these direct with a stopover flights may be inconvenient for the passengers I am sure that they ensure that King Tom continues the make pretty good sums of money...the policy of reducing his risk by increasing his options has been ongoing. I realise that there is an element of commercial sense in this but a good deal of the culture put forward by GSM in their press is that they are there to serve the cities they fly from...this is clearly not true...they are there to make money and if they don't they pull out at short notice.... commercially very sensible but the partial cause of this unholy mess!

more confusing
GSM 725 GLA - SFB Thursday 10.05
left GLA Friday 02.35 am on a 737-800 to BGR arrived 04.04 am
left BGR Friday 04.56 am on a 757-200 to SFB to arrive SFB 07.41 am

dont suppose their is much chance of it arriving back in GLA at 11.40 am not on Friday anyway.

now there is going to be a knock on effect as the 06.00 am GLA - ALC has just taken off at 11.25 am.

I see the YVR/YYC to GLA is only 2 hours late today at least they are making a dent in the delays to something more reasonable.

Today's YHM-BFS-STN is running a tad behind, currently expected to arrive in BFS at 2015 this evening, 12 hours late.

If this is any indication of how they're running this operation at the moment I think they need to do some serious re-thinking and pull their collective fingers out.

Very disappointing.

Compare the comments with other carriers, particularly Zoom, and I know who I will be booking my flight to Toronto on.

GLA-ALC due 15.00 CET....5 hours down.

The Orlando SFB-GLA due at 11.20 is also delayed with no ETA available.

The aircraft reported as 12 hours down on the YHM-BFS-STN only has a 2 hour turn round allowed at STN. Should have left there again for BFS and thence YHM at 12.00.

Another interesting weekend in prospect, especially if you are a passenger on this airline.

BusterH

Thanx for that link....about tells the sad story.
