Wonder if FlyBE might step in as both routes well established
Well established routes with I suspect very good yeilds. If they do, they will have to stick with at least double daily which will involve two Q400s. I remember it being said that these were the best routes Arann had, could be interesting.......

At the end of the day i guess a lot depends on the airport managements enthusiasm to keep the route operational( and Flybe a/c availibility)

If Flybe started the WAT - LTN route it would work as it is the busiest route on the RE network. A lot of passengers are not happy that RE are moving the route to Southend. Passengers have said they will now fly from DUB with FR as its now only 90mins from WAT.
It would require Flybe to base a a/c in WAT.
In regards to GWY as Knock is near by passengers can fly to STN, LTN and LGW. As well as to LHR, STN and LGW from SNN.

So what is the ex MaxJet 767 doing slipping in and out during the very small hours of the night?

Recent Observations
Just returned from a trip to Blighty through Luton and was pleasantly surprised how busy it seemed to be for early November. Same old problem at the ''UK Border'' had to wait in long queue and then asked where the flight had come from - Big Brother again. No such problems crossing the border from Gib to Spain - just wave the passport which seems to do the trick!
On the return on Tuesday the 9nth used the Monarch service to Gib - looked about 100 on it so not too bad; the Alicante looked very well patronised so good news there. Left Dunstable at 4.45am and dropped the hire car off in the mid term car park (local company which was very good) got the bus to the terminal checked in then security and sat down for tea and toast by 5.30 cannot complain at that. Did not like the look of the railings on the approach road though.
I see the Isle of Man service had an increase of 208 passengers in October compared to 2009 up from 2,500 to 2,718 and increase of 8.3%

So what do they server currently from Luton?

I fear this is all going to end in tears, In my opinion the people within the Stobart Group do not seem to have any idea about aviation let alone markets etc, have they done any research - it does not seem so when somebody says they are going to serve the North London area - as Pabely says what does Luton serve then? There is just not enough passengers to operate to both airports within 50 miles of each other - utter madness. The trouble is a lot of people are going to lose there jobs which is the real shame.

I can't really believe that Arann are going to serve both LTN and SEN at least not as they do now. They talk of new routes - often done without mentionig the demise of the old. They could still serve LTN and pick up leisure traffic, maybe 3-4times a week.
Ultimately I'd expect the routes to be served by SEN based aircraft serving other routes too, if this is feasible via crewing etc, or the Irish based aircraft would come into SEN and operate out of SEN to Europe before returning west. I'm not saying it would work but it may be the only way of trying to make SEN work. I don't see they have the money to expand.
So if Scot still have any fire and Arann do go, I'd love to see them have a go at GWY and Waterford (again) ex LTN. Not sure if they could get the fares low enough for leisure traffic though, but a smaller and faster aeroplane (Do328). In fact the 328 could probably make other destinations e.g DUS and may be FRA work out of LTN too.

Arann at Southend....
With STN just up the road with Loco's to every european destination you could hope for & LCY catering very well for the Business sector, I can't see how this is going to make Stobart any money. Anyhow, for now LTN does not seem to be loosing any of the Arann routes.

Just reported on the 1800 Meridian SE local TV news that Aer Arann is planning to start services from SEN to WAT & GWY in the spring, so it looks like the move from LTN to SEN is going to happen.
This is bound to have a negative effect, but I think they are between the devil and the deep!
