What is being built at the moment seems not to be part of those plans, the other site of Kimpton Road labelled offices.

Grrr

I think quite a bit of the original Tinminal project was 'cost engineered' out? I recall vividly a meeting where the escalator from the platforms to ticket area was deemed unnecessary at the Parkway, the concession was a disabled lift and only because they had to legally install one!

A grand 'Pullman' plan to have check in off site. In hindsight possibly a visionary idea which probably would have been culled anyway post 11th Sept 2001 (I am not American 9-11).

Anyway, the extra wide lane under the taxiway was to have permitted fast People Mover transit.

Due to operational issues, the planned extra 20 737s at Stansted with the entire fleet there operating 24 hours per day during the Olympic Games will not happen.

Heard a rumour today, anyone fancy flying Boeing, I know an airline (or an agency) anxious to talk to you!

Anyone heard of any new easyJet routes from the airport this winter, in the rumour mill?

So far the airline has been busy announcing a number of new ones, but none for Luton, that I can see

Birmingham - Belfast
Manchester - Tel Aviv
Gatwick - Isle of Man
Gatwick - Turin
Gatwick - Luxembourg
Gatwick - Tallin
Newcastle - Amsterdam
Bristol - Copenhagen
Southend - Geneva
Southend - Venice

Is this due to re jig other routes or another aircraft, thus more to come?

Thanks for the info Buster and LTNman. I had presumed that money was the factor - at some stage or another!

The Napier Park Overview looks like exactly the kind of thing that is shown to get the money, to get the Council to sign and the residents to agree. What happens after that is another matter ... mainly because of Money!

Luton is allowed 36 slots / hour during Olympics, taking away existing scheduled and charters, how much is actually left for VVIP traffic? With parking restrictions (bad as they are already), do they really want a drop and go & park to say Cranfield & Duxford, or with this being a VFR flight would this be classed as a 'slot' during the airspace TMA restrictions?

I suppose it all depends on the time of day/night when the VVIPs want to arrive/depart as there are quiet times at most airports - Heathrow excepted. Maybe somebody with more knowledge than me on ATC issues would like to comment further. Also looks like Wizzair are increasing their Debrechen flights to five weekly at the start of the winter timetable.

I understand that there could be a lot of interest in slots and we could see positioning out to park due to apron constraints.

I went to Oxford today, unrecognisable from my last visit. Hangars, executive jets and even an executive mini tinminal! Radar head now turning as well. They too are looking to max out during the Olympic games especially as the owners of Oxford now own Battersea heliport.

LTN man, thanks for the tip-off (787 flypast) I waited for it from my office in Luton Town Centre and watched it as it descended over North Luton and turned around over Stevenage before carrying out its fly past.

As it climbed over South Luton, I could hardly hear a thing!
