BmiBaby - BHX-GNB

BmiBaby have today released their winter schedule, with new flights from Birmingham to Grenoble. Can't see EasyJet operating this route after this year with both Ryanair and BmiBaby on it next year.

Latest runway extension condition.

The latest condition to deal with comes from the very anti-airport Councillor Ryan.

Ryan introduced - without any kind of prior notice -a condition that BHX buys 120 acres and uses it to plant trees to help offset carbon emissions

BE & WW frequency reductions

BMI Baby Winter

No Barcelona, Bergamo, Murcia, Faro or Palma all winter as yet

Geneva cut to two Saturday flights and one Sunday, no weekday
(lets hope easyjet take heed)

Nice weekly from mid February.

Prague from 6 to 4 a week

Knock from 5 to 4 a week

AGP & ALC - 2 a week reduced from 2-5 a week last winter

EDI, BFS, GLA & AMS - same as now

A real thin schedule with four based using only 2-3 in the day.

Flybe

Stuttgart reduced to twice daily from now and Milan to daily
from next Monday. It is one 195 starting at 0940 returning 14.20.

However both services will still offer more seats than last summer
due to bigger aircraft.

Last Stuttgart departure 15.30 returning to BHX 20.00 - obviously
aimed at UK based traffic with no real possibility of a day-trip from
Stuttgart as there is now.

This is a RUMOUR netowrk. MAYBE councillor Ryan needs to dispose of 120 acres of land around that part of the west Midlands

Presumably the requirement to buy 120 acres and plant 10k worth of trees every year for 20 yrs is to offset carbon emissions - so the land...and the trees could be pretty well anywhere in Uk or even further afield and not necessarily anywhere near the airport. The carbon emissions offset would be the same and any birds attracted to sit in 200k worth of trees could be many miles away! BHX would be wisest to buy the least expensive bit of woodland and not expensive land in Solihull.

Air Sylhet

At least they have an aircraft which is more than some previous attempts-

Already sitting on the deck at BHX apparently (very early) and is a 757 with an Icelantic registration per another forum.

BHX already invest in Carbon offset....
Birmingham International Airport (BIA) has invested £20,000 to protect 180 acres of endangered rainforest in Brazil. Although not being used as a carbon offset, the project locks nearly 50,000 tonnes of CO2; the equivalent used by the Airport’s buildings over two years. The sponsorship also includes purchasing classroom equipment, solar powered internet, and a boat for a school in the heart of the Amazon called 'Escola Estadual', which serves communities in a 10-mile radius in the state of Mato Grosso...

Nothing will please Jim Ryan. He's a NIMBY. He only became a councillor to keep up his campaign against the airport....He'd have been better off selling his house and moving.....To the rain forest would be a good start..

Mahan Air

Barry

Might not be good news for everyone, I would imagine that the farmers near Honiley and the residents around the Sutton TV masts might be a little anxious

W5 recommencing flights

It should be good if they actually start flights. Will they be able to find a A310 in the fleet, considering they are using 747-400 on the IKA-DXB routes.

Who's idea is it to make me fasten up my hi-viz tabbard or face a fine and to also make me drive over half a mile to the nearest bin? I can see a few engines hoovering up allsorts of cr@p over the next few months.

£££££

Loonies taking over?
I had noticed all the bins had disappeared from each stand and in there place little FOD bins. Who’s job is to empty those once they start over flowing?

A few other cost cutting / money making ideas I’ve seen include reducing the free parking in long stay 1 from 1hour to just 15mins and then painting all the roads with double red lines. Loss of the staff bus is also on the cards although I can’t see that one becoming reality.

Seems this new MD is only interested in the bottom line and making the airport into even more of a rip of for passengers to use. Still, should keep the share holders happy if it is saving money, even if it ruffles a few feathers to say the least!

Just 1 last thing. The little smiley face and sad face telling you how fast you're driving airside are soon to have cameras fitted or so rumour has it. No doubt the airport intends to issue £50 fines if you're caught doing 16mph!
