Presumably the requirement to buy 120 acres and plant 10k worth of trees every year for 20 yrs is to offset carbon emissions - so the land...and the trees could be pretty well anywhere in Uk or even further afield and not necessarily anywhere near the airport. The carbon emissions offset would be the same and any birds attracted to sit in 200k worth of trees could be many miles away! BHX would be wisest to buy the least expensive bit of woodland and not expensive land in Solihull.

Nothing will please Jim Ryan. He's a NIMBY. He only became a councillor to keep up his campaign against the airport....He'd have been better off selling his house and moving.....To the rain forest would be a good start..
