GSM also axing some FAO flights, I think it's over Apr/May, or May/Jun (can't recall which). "Operational reasons" & pax will be rerouted via GLA/EDI.

Interesting bmi Reg to take over the BHX route from Baby from end of March, believe it's 3x E145 M-F, with an ABZ-based aircraft.

AMS & BGO appear on the Flybe website from ABZ, you can't book anything but don't know if they are proposing any direct flights - I believe you have to go via LSI for BGO...which won't give Wideroe any sleepless nights I wouldn't have thought.

Bergen is via Sumburgh or Kirkwall. AMS is via SOU or in some cases via LBA and SOU

Thanks H...this would be their frequent twice weekly SOU service I take it!

Looks as if the cooncil are being recommended to approve the application for an accomodation block for paramedics etc on the east side, proposed by Bond, I think? Up by the Social Club presumably.

Lasers strike again

See reports that police are investigating two incidents where pilots reported being shone at on the approach, seemed to eminate from Mastrick/Northfield, both of which are over or near the glidepath.

What do people get out of doing this???

KLM

Have they withdrawn the recently introduced evening flight already? Why did they launch it in the midst of this Depression, where ABZ is amond the worst affected airports by the downturn in passengers??

Strap yourselves in chaps, it's gonna be grim oop north.

EDIT: Talisman the oil co to stop all platform-based drilling in the N Sea from May, no doubt a knock on effect for heli movements & Bristow. And therefore for pax movements. And they won't be the only ones, whether announced or not.

Doom & Gloom

Heli-One losing ~60 jobs from ABZ ops, leaving ~25.

Also in Rotorheads CHC not renewing some monthly contracts with some of their "contractor" pilots.

I'm hearing only bad news - it's gonna get much worse...in both the non-oil & oil economies.....

My icelandic is in far from tip top condition and online translators are not too helpfull but I believe that Mr CityStar is now working in a seaweed factory.

See bmi Regional Embraers to be used solely on LHR from summer schedules - no more bmi Buses on schedules routes it seems. Small is beautiful? Least it suggests bmi R does have a future somewhere.

Great job by the crew/pax in REDU by the way & the Rescue Svs. Seems Jigsaw did not have a piece missing.

Wonder what the decision was re runway ext. I caught the very tail end of a report on Grumpian TV North Tonight showing a silly bint in a hat being interviewed at the east side, trumping on about Trump.

I took it from that that a positive decision to press ahead had been made.

Anyone confirm?

News Report was about a Group of People opposed to the third runway at Heathrow paying a visit to ABZ. Campainers worried that with Trumps Golf course the amount of Air traffic at ABZ will Increase : What Rubbish I find bizarre that people complain about noise levels at ABZ and 24H opening how do all the other Airports in the UK Operate ?

Is the extension going ahead?
I just heard major South coast travel agent plans for B767's to take cruise passengers from Aberdeen to the Bahamas next year.

Runway Extension?

I doubt if the rumoured 140m extension (if it happens) will bring the Bahamas within non-stop range!
I heard that the decision was due yesterday. Anybody know what happened?
