ATA have been through ABZ but think they were just wrestling charters. ABZ-MAD...nope I don't think so, especially after the recent GLA-MAD attempts with a much bigger catchment.

A Qatari consortium buying the airport? NOW you're talking - they might be able to keep the lights on!

Good luck with prizing it away from BAA/Ferrovial...

More chance of that happening than new euro routes anyway!

Virgin - give it a year tops...bet they wish they could get Glasgow instead! It's BA, Heathrow or nowt for Aberdeen punters...rather like a junkie that can't stay off the heroin.

Another airline/route likely to be added to the litany of failures at Furryboots Intl...

Given that the long established BMI route went from an Airbus to a BMI Regional Embraer, I have no idea how Virgin think a 174 seat A320 is ever going to work.

ABZ - LHR

i just made a flight on Virgin with 14 other people! Very quiet....it was on the lunchtime one and the equivalent BA seemed to have 3 times as many pax. Can't see Virgin sustaining this as a route

EGPD Expansion

Can anyone give any answers to any airport development whether that's new routes, upgrading the terminal or adding new facilities at Aberdeen airport?

The master plan is extremely vague, unlike Edinburghs one that details every year the new things happening, ie new stands, new piers and bigger terminal etc.

Can't seem to find anything listing anything to do with airport expansion or development, everything seems to be about the new business parks which will clog the roads even more,

Any answers and feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Don't take this the wrong way but you asked the exact same question on the 19th April which got a few responses.

Given the rate at which progress is made up here in a month, not very much has changed

Was hoping for good news incase something had been announced and I'd missed it, assume its just Glasgow and Edinburgh that benefit from expansion of routes and have money spent on their airports,

Getting sick of flying thru Abz 5 times a week especially if more than one flt lands at the same time, baggage is a nightmare and can add extra unwanted time onto a business day.

Thought oil capital of Europe would of had a decent terminal at least by now!

and the most unpleasant security staff in the Uk..............

always seem to the sensitivity of their scanners turned up to max - whatever airport I board at and don't have a problem I can guarantee the buzzer will go off at ABZ

Luck o the Irish

Looks like they listened to me HH!

Notice on the DUB thread that the ABZ route W13/14 will see an increase to 10xweekly with an 0730 Dept from DUB 3 days a week. So some good news.

HH,
Disagree with you there. The security guys and girls I have met over the years going through Post 2 have always been friendly and pleasant. They are doing their job according to DoT guidelines. If they don't follow that then they lose their jobs.
If you have nothing to hide then why get hot and bothered about the machine. It never went off with me,unless it's a random check.

I would also disagree that ABZ security are rude. Do seem to get patted down 1 in 2 times which is a pain but they aren't rude about it unlike LHR where the full body scanner once accused me of having a suspicious item on my shoulder and I'm being spoken to in a 'guilty till proven innocent' manner by the ignorant bint.

Good news about DUB as well. Been harping about that for a while. Maybe further increases for S14?

Rendition Flights

Press and Journal - Article - ?New proof of city link to CIA torture flights?

Three alleged using Aberdeen Airport during the period of renditions.

Perhaps no surprise, but interesting ABZ, INV & WIC were all used - maybe thus avoiding the busier airports so not to bring attention to the matter at the time.

What happens now? Probably nothing, as it's all 'after the event'.

There was a bit of a furore at PIK a while back as allegedly a good few passed through there. Not a mention now so looks like the P&J are stuck for anything newsworthy at the moment if they are dragging this all up again

Ec225

Maybe be back end of June mid July, a very big maybe but perhaps some positive news, even though all 3 helicopter companies have ordered more or are already using large numbers of s92 aircraft

Where is the evidence? No dates, no aircraft registrations, no departure airfield details, no destination details; not much of anything, except the media jumping in with both feet, suitably attired with heavy boots. It's not even the silly season yet.
