Mind you if I said the runway is to be extended in 2009, or more stands are to be built you wouldn't have believed me!!!

10 ship flypast 18th April
9 Tornado F3's plus 1 camera ship Hawk ETA Aberdeen 0940Z Should be visible from Dundee Arbroath Turriff then I believe heading for Kinloss and Lossie before returning home to Leuchars. Formation should be below 2000' and so should be quite a sight. There are some rumours about an 11th F3 not in formation but I cant conform that.

Surely our weather isn't as bad as Poland's..............is it?
See GSM has released TFS for this winter, but this time on a Thurs & originating from ABZ. Presume AGP to follow, but suggests a based a/c over winter. Mind you they proposed a based a/c last winter before pulling most of the routes proposed back then...

See the "emerging thinking" report has shown that BAA has used ABZ down the years to invest in its empire elsewhere. Quelle surprise?
The report apparently says in the last 20yrs BAA have taken out £187m from ABZ, putting back £69m. Also taken more (proportionately) from pax & airlines from Dyce than anywhere else on the BAA network.
So should people be happy with their lot & what BAA puts into ABZ, or is it proof that perhaps the airport would be better off in the hands of others - or would they do just the same as BAA have been doing?
Do pax numbers & catchment area mean that the airport is unlikely to prosper further in the future, or has in fact the BAA been holding it back, with custom lost to the likes of GLA & EDI?
If BAA is ordered to sell one of the London airports, plus possibly one of the lowland Scottish assets, would ABZ, if remaining in BAA-ownership, see proportionally more investment, or again, would it be syphoned off elsewhere?
Perhaps BAA could decide to sell ABZ as they would not see any worth in keeping it in a greatly revenue-reduced portfolio?
Possibly interesting times ahead...

The reason for the price difference comes down to competition, how much of that is related to BAA Aberdeen charges and how much to Catchment I'm not certain but I expect that ABZ could probably not sustain the pax numbers to support the competition never mind the state of ramp congestion. How much the catchment numbers will change with all the building going on in the area remains to be seen.
On the other hand I shall be merrily going through the doors of ABZ in the next wee while en route to various destinations as it is more efficient for my company for me to travel locally and that is why Aberdeen is currently successful, the business market.

Is that £200 ticket premium a good case of the NE public being ripped off because of where we choose to live (or not, in some cases ), a necessary evil due to our location, or is it added due to airport charges here?
I noticed the only airline to praise ABZ (& I think they meant only the recent management) was Eastern - the same Eastern who charge - or DID - *sky high fares (*some would say) for business pax & the same airline who I recall mentioned that "they were still there" despite the high costs of operating into ABZ.
There is a lack of loco operators at Dyce - people are the same the world over surely? If there is a cheaper way of getting from A to B, then they will take it? Or is the oil industry a captive market, captured by T3 & BA? Will be interesting to see if Flybe's expansion will prove successful, leading to further growth, or if it will all peter out.
City Star did not help themselves (or rather, their management didn't) but I wonder if the costs of operating at Dyce took their toll in the end & contributed to their demise.

See the MD wrote to the paper to staunchly defend BAA's record of investment at ABZ, mentioning the approval for the runway extension in his letter.
Of course APPROVAL is one thing, whether that extension is actually BUILT may be another.

Their is more chance Aberdeen being sold off than building an extension to the Runway and plus the council would never approve it
It has been spoken about for the last 25 years.
I think their is more chance moving Aberdeen Airport to Lossiemouth as their is no restrictions with noise or opening hours
I'm not speaking negative but just facing facts
So if it happens then we have something to celebrate but until then you can dance on my coffine when it does 65 years from now

I was searching for Turkish flights and found it last week.Dalaman on a Sunday and that was for early June.I think it was the same charter airline as last year.(Freebird).

ABZ is 24 hours now.I can't comment about the runway extension,but maybe the taxiway fixes might have swallowed the budget.If BAA did flog it off,then do you think any buyer would invest any more.

Turkey flights,
They are still in some charter flight sites on the net.Dalaman on a Sunday,however if they have been removed then that wouldn't be the first time.Mind you I haven't phoned them to check.I was waiting until the first one pitched up.
