Can anyone please tell me which charter airline fly from ABZ to Verona in the summer time. I see the flight number starts with QS as in QS 122 but I cannot find any more about them.

Is it a typical "charter" in that you are herded like cattle and have to sit with your knees against your chest for the duration and do they fly direct to Verona?

Thanks

QS

QS are Travel Service, not that bad for leg room, normally operates 737-800. Should operate direct though.
Hope this helps

QS

Normally they are package holidays, and are normally one off holidays, don't think they do flight only.

Stronger rumours in the Depress & Journal:

A polish link, 4x weekly (destination & airline unknown)
2x daily to London City
2x daily to Rotterdam

Also that the operator continues to talk to "other operators" re Houston link.

And the word DUBAI is also being talked about!!

Can't fault them for trying!

Poland - GSM.
LCY/Rotterdam - VLM.
DXB -EK.
IAH - CO.

Doubt many of these will happen but I would guess these would be the airlines.

Abz-rtm

I believe BMI holds (held?) slots at RTM for twice a day?

Dubai???? They are having a laugh surely?

Do Emirates not already do a flight from Glasgow??

London City???...how many times has that one been tried???

Why not start a rumour that a Toronto flight is imminent and I can fly home direct!

Dubai? Surely nothing to do with imminent announcement that Taqa will be taking over Shell's Northern Assets. Talisman don't need any connections with Canada and after Taqa deal is done they will be biggest operator (by platform numbers) in North Sea.

What Runway Extension?

I hear that Stand 0 has been binned due to cost. Given that the BAA are massively in debt and that they have sold off their duty free shops, which were a major source of income, does anyone on this thread really think that the runway extension (all 100 odd metres!) will ever be built? I would guess at a 0 to 1% chance.

Half of me is expecting an announcement that apron & runways extensions have been binned.

The other half is expecting that they will be quietly dropped out of sight.

And the third half of me wonders whether BAA will be broken up anyway, in view of the ongoing enquiry into their "monopoly" position at the London airports & those they own in Scotland.

What is people's current thinking re this? Would it be a good thing if BAA was forced to sell some/all of the airports, particularly partaining to ABZ? Who could conceivably come in (I read a group in Oz was testing the water to guage interest in taking over BAA airports if a sell-off came to pass).

Their is absolutly no chance of their being an extension being built at Aberdeen

This is not the first time this has been mentioned as it was mentioned 25 years ago so Aberdeen could take B-747's and operate transatlantic fligts but the counsillers opposed the idea and thought the money could be spent else where.

Aberdeen council is absolutly useless when it come's to expanding buisness intrests it has allways been nocked on the head when their are any intrests in Dyce Airport or other ideas with in the City no money has ever been spent on the city to bring turists or expand buisness intrests

This is why it is called the dull and bleak city where nothing happens

The boat has been missed for LCY - the place is operating to capacity during peak hours. In fact LHR is a better experience during peak hours as a pax than LCY.

Poland perhaps but will that be seasonal? Still if it's cheaper out of EDI or PIK then these folks will travel by car/bus to get there. The number of Poles and Lithuanians that connected with Ryanair at LPL from ABZ was amazing when they operated the route. Cheapest option at the time to get to Eastern Europe!!

Rotterdam - bmi hold slots for RTM but they can't find the aircraft. With the large Shell presence that exists in RTM there could be enough pax to justify a little E135 on the route. Can't see VLM touching it since it would take forever and a day in a F50 and a RJ85 will have too much capacity if it is operated under the new VLM/CityJet agreement.

Emirates won't be coming - fact!

BA is in a stronger position with IAH since it has moved its flight from LGW to LHR so better connections for pax plus better facilities with T5 openeing. If there was ever a time when premium pax won't give up on BA from ABZ-LHR-IAH - its now! Citystar Executive - your days are numbered!

Pumaboy,

Wise up. It's BAA's responsibility to finance the runway extension, not the council.

PS - Stop the Aberdeen bashing. There are FAR worse places to live.

VLM is planning a twice-daily ABZ-LCY operation for the summer and a twice-daily F50 service to Rotterdam.

VG231 arrives from RTM 08:15
VG232 departs to RTM 08:45
VG237 arrives from RTM 18:15
VG238 departs to RTM 18:45

VG461 departs to LCY 06:30 (BAe146-200) from 6 May
VG462 arrives from LCY 10:25
VG467 departs to LCY 16:45
VG468 arrives from LCY 20:40
Slots in place at LCY

No sign of anything Polish, but I'd say VLM looked like a pretty strong bet for both routes based on the above.

There will have to be a significant degree of restructuring for the above to take place. VLM don't have the capacity in Rotterdam for another route. They only way the ABZ route will start is if some of the VLM fleet is redeployed on thinner routes whilst CityJet move in on the more lucrative routes with their RJs and the few 146s that are left - can't be many left! VLM currently have a D328 in on a wet lease to provide enough airframes to cover the schedule so it is that tight at the moment!

VLM may be marketing the LCY route but that looks like it will actually be operated by Cityjet if they are proposing that a 146 will be used since VLM do not operate any jet aircraft - unless they wet lease something in... however they have just finished leasing in a 146! Doubt that route will last very long though!!

It wont be long now until VLM is absorbed into the Cityjet operation, given that they are owned by AFKLM I can see rationalisation on some routes - AMS springs to mind immediately as I think between them there is about 15 flights each way every day by KLM & VLM, this would free up slots for ABZLCY, as for RTM havent got a clue.
