Highland

I am kite-flying to some extent, but could Highland expand ops out of ABZ?

I see as well as their 4x JE41s they have also acquired another JE31 to join the fleet (Jethros).

They are seen here on oil charters, could they move into schedules here in the future? There are a few oil routes (ex-X9) that may suit the 31/41. CWL is also vacant, & Highland fly Valley-CWL.

I know that it has been said that the 41s are for Bae flights GLA-EDI-(filton? - might have wrong destination!) but would Hiway need 4x 41s to do that solely?

Maybe it is for other activities, or INV expansion, but I think they could make a go of a couple of routes at ABZ, if that is something they are thinking of doing.

Kite flying, probably wrong as usual!

Richard,

I think the recent aircraft acquired at Highland are for Inv and Warton bases. Theyve certainly been looking for crews to fill aircraft at both bases. No other bases advertised.

Thanks Mike. They seem to be going from strength to strength anyway.

Any news on the ex-City Star DO328s still here? Or are they destined to be at ABZ long-term with no buyers (given the general economic position worldwide)?

I thought now that the deadline to pay debts had passed without resolution, they were BAA's to deal with as they wished, at least the one they impounded is.

Also, must have missed this, we had a teenage yob (one of Abdn's finest!) scale the fence recently? Complete knob.

BE

no apostrophe required for "days", puma

Can't remember if I heard or read it previously, on here or elsewhere, but what are Flybe's plans this coming winter for ABZ? Maybe too early to tell of course!

Rumours of a three aircraft base, which if correct (Loganair notwithstanding) would consist of 1x E195 & 2x DH8D?

What further plans in that case do Flybe have? MAN, LBA, CWL, OSL?? SVG???

And could we see Logan introduce more routes here, or are their aircraft now fully utilised, with their "new" SF340Bs on station? Have they got rid of their "A's" yet?

BE's EXT route recommenced this week, routing EXT-ABZ-INV-EXT.

Think Flybe want to put more than just one E195 into ABZ - providing the BAA don't throw a spanner in the works!

Puma Boy, you are a spark plug. Your spelling and patter are both mince.

PS In response to your PM, Just remember, in the words of Billy Connolly, the City has given more to you than you will ever give back to it.

Particularly if you lived there for 25 years. That must make you an Aberdonian??

Are you indicating new routes? Which ones are Flybe looking at?? They must be across the waters to have a E195 operating it, Flybe usually operate E195 on International services with the exception of a couple of ex-SOU and LGW internal routes (I.e JER-LGW, INV-LGW, BHD-LGW, ABZ-LGW)

If you go to excess baggage section of GSM'S website click departing from ABZ and 3 services so far are bookable for W08
ABZ-Alicante 1x weekly on SUN from DEC
ABZ-Malaga 1x weekly on SAT from DEC
ABZ-Tenerife 1x weekly on Thur from DEC

Maybe more to come?

If Flybe do end up basing 3 a/c in ABZ the whisper is as follows:The E195 will be used for LGW, possibly something else too. One Q400 will be used to restart the MAN route that was dropped during the BACON merger and compete against bmir. The 2nd Dash will allegedly be used to compete against bmir/Eastern on the NWI and again something else - possibly the NCL to free up a Newcastle based a/c.

I see pax were up slightly for Apr, on the back on continued increasing intl traffic. Domestics though continue to fall. Which routes are suffering, or is the "Liverpool" factor continuing to affect figures.

Perhaps proof that, outwith the energy sector, the Credit Crunch affects this area too.
