Surprises me that so many flights take off for Aberdeen when the forecast is 200m in fog and the actuals not showing much improvement on that.
Next SHT still going round the ADN hold at 4000ft after much holding at GLESK.
Virgin and AFR diverted to EDN.
LH970 next to give it a try.

Based Aircraft?
Good news.
Quickly looking through the times on their website it seems that the aircraft will be based or at least night stopping in ABZ and presumably operating W's with somewhere else.
Hopefully leaves scope for further route additions or frequency increases.
Schedule seems to be at the moment:
Mon: DLM 1000-2005
Tue: PMI 0630-1030; 1950-2200 (W)
Wed: IBZ 0630-1050; 2020-2240 (W)
Thu: FAO 0600-0920; 1910-2240 (W)
Fri: CFU 0725-1555; PMI 1725-0035
Sat: PMI 2325-0635+1 (???)
Sun: TFS 0900-1950

Could be another Germania based aircraft like the one based in Norwich this summer , ideal type of aircraft and config for the routes involved
Looks like the W pattern on Tue / Wed / Thu links into a Glasgow operation to Palma , Ibiza and Faro

Fixing the Haudagain Roundabout
BBC News - Haudagain roundabout: Dual carriageway plan to ease congestion
But not starting before 2018!
Why can't they just put in a slip road over the petrol station and the two houses on the corner I don't know

Is this a rumour? Haven't heard anything myself. The only way I could see BA flying to anywhere outwith London from ABZ is if they decided to do something with the Embraer that is parked up all Winter at weekends. Maybe ski flights but can't see it happening myself.
On the topic of actual new routes, I note that airBaltic will temporarily be switching to Q400's for most of May soon. 737 service will resume after this short period. Long old slog in a Dash with a more than 3 hour block time. I think this is a recent change, worrying news already? Will be interesting to see the April CAA stats.

I think it is conceivable that BACF could pick up some routes from domestic points to Europe as operate them as W's originating and ending at LCY. Given BA's exit from regional flying in a market they describe as being best suited to low cost carriers, they would be very selective in any new route choices.
Outside of peak morning and evening where demand is greatest the fleet could pick up additional routes, could prove lucrative ...
BA mainline I totally would rule such routes out. Apart from the expressed lack of interest in such flying I'd suggest BA do not have the fleet capacity for same ...

Statto
The April CAA provisional stats are in so I will give a few figures.
RIX
airBaltic seem to have got off to a promising start on the Riga run. April pax total was 2026 which with their 17 rotations equates to an average load of 60 pax which is more than a 50% load factor. When having a look on their website, they haven't been giving away fares either.
The Dashes are just scheduled on a few rotations in May before normal 737 service resumes towards the end of this month.
OSL
SAS seem to have had a pretty poor start to be honest on the Oslo flights. Assuming BM carried approx 1500 of the 3346 that travelled on the route that leaves ~1850 to SK giving an average load, based on I believe 24 rotations of just 38 pax per flight, many of them on 738's.
Others
BHD was up 29.4% to 3003 and BHX was up a stonking 35% to 11017.
LHR was up 17.1% to 64500 and SVG was down 24% to 11562 although that was inevitable with the school holidays.
KSU had 322 pax giving an average load of 7 pax per flight so no surprises to see that being reduced and no doubt dropped in the coming months.

Some strong figures there.
Pity about KSU, but perhaps not surprising. When City Star provided a link it was via SVG, so perhaps they knew there simply wasn't the traffic for a direct link. Sounds like the last days of GRQ all over again!
Also a pity SAS saw fit to dilute traffic on the OSL route to the extent that bmi felt they had to cut back. As had been previously said elsewhere, you wondered whether the route could sustain two carriers. Just have to see how it pans out. As long as Oslo-based Statoil have a presence here (especially now they have chosen the location for their HQ), I guess there will be a link from at least one carrier.
I read last week that the Norwegian press had commented that the reduction in traffic on SVG correlated roughly with passengers switching onto OSL.
I was away this week, but noticed a new bidder for the acquisition of ABZ, led by ZUR airport.
Swiss group could bid for Aberdeen International Airport - Local / News / Evening Express
Only thing is - if the initial bid has been rejected by HAH, how many 'months' before the new consortium come back in. Just feels like a long drawn out process... perhaps inevitably.

Two Pegasus B738s inbound to ABZ at same time, both to be outbound for Dalaman, departures 15mins apart.
Common occurrence elsewhere of course, but wonder how they will park them here.
Marshall one onto Stand 1 (1A) & the other on 2?
For some reason reminds me of the days of 2 Aviaco DC9s sitting aside or near each other for Palma on Sat evenings, or later in the 80s, a couple of Sun evening Aviogenex flights for Pula & Dubrovnik.
Ah, nostalgia!

Lufthansa
Lufthansa will be increasing capacity by going all A319 on the FRA from 01/08 until the end of the Summer Season.
Then, from the Winter season the route will be reduced to two daily for the entire season AND operated by a Cityline E190. Capacity is therefore nearly cut in half from 750 seats a day to just 400 and although the route doesn't exactly set the heather alight in winter, this scale of reduction comes as a surprise to me.
