Yes it certainly is very quiet at the moment, lets hope no news is good news for the airport. I really cannot get used to not see any planes flying into Cov. Are there any Air Atlantic movements still, miss the sound of the Electras being run up?

What happened to all the flying clubs, Armstrong Whitworth and Cov Aeroplane Club must have been two of the oldest surviving clubs in the country?
Kevin Lynch and his helicopter?

Great how some people keep popping up with moans about those that live in Warwickshire that participated in the Planning procedure legally (I'm not one, for the record). Unlike CVT who tried to circumvent the procedures whenever the chance was given. Time to move forward not live in the past. I don't believe the Planning Permission for a larger terminal would have made a jot of difference to the present difficulties. In fact it would have deepened the debt. Thomsonfly would still have left. They couldn't even attract anyone else with an empty 1 million capacity terminal...
Programme for HS2 includes:
2026 – line between London and Birmingham could open
Vey unlikely if you ask me.

A bit CVT History.
Baginton-Coventry airport. Not sure if anyone else has seen this as I'm new on here, but some great info about the airports history. Hopefully history can still be made in the future if that makes sense

This week should be the last of due diligence. The press reported Sir peter intrest on the 17th Feb. I would expect his looking at the books should be over this week.

"My friend at the Council says that there is a BIG council meeting Today"
Wouldn't by any chance be taking place on Rowley Road? just witnessed 9 men all leaning on BIG shovel's and another sat in a BIG JCB! the smell of Tarmac (or was it tarmac...) in the air & plenty of vans & pickups with Coventry City Council written all over'em.

Well, the Pope is due to visit Coventry Airport in September,
If anyone can save it, he has the connections, just needs to ask his boss

A lttle bird (on the inside) tells me the concilliatory measures include giving sir peter some adjacent CCC land for development as part of the deal (rugby club and railway i understand)

The rugby club still have 20 years at least on their lease so they could be bought out of it but legally I dont think they could just give it to him. Althought they would probably welcome the the sale if the price was right.

I hear the deal will be signed tomorrow as long as marshalls sign up to an ATC contract. CovCC are throwing in 'development options' (which are key to Sir peter's plans) on the rugby club, railway and air museum land. Presumably cov cc can find other land for rugby pitches. Not sure what the deal is for the railway and air museum though.
Plan is Airport to be up and running with marshalls doing ATC within as short a timescale as caa licencing allows.
Dont know any more but maybe all will become clear tomorrow...

Airport Consultative Committee met with peter tonight and he is meeting with the airport customers tomorrow.
looks like its going ahead, with hopefully the deal signed with the administrators tomorrow.
Yes, the area where the rusty trains and the airport museum are is looked to become the main entrance for the airport, (Rowley road) with room for new buisnesses alongside the new entrance. Passenger terminal to be mothballed. and car park used for other uses.
Peter to put together a 5 year plan for the site.
No Thomsonfly type business, rather small biz jets, flyings schools etc to start with. Cat 2 fire cover and ATC run by outside company.
If he cannot make a go of it, expect the site to become gravel extraction and land fill afterwards, so lets hope Peter can make a go of it.
Oh and he has met with Warks and Northants air ambulance and all is well fot them to continue to use the airport

From what I have heard ATC will be contracted and RFFS will be in house. Does anyone know if a application has gone to the CAA for a license yet and if so what is the time scale. At least this seems like a realistic business plan and hopefully it will all go to plan for once.
