Well since no one else is I will get things started.
Fire cover is now available CAT1 as per the NOTAM and there is a fuel bowser service.
ATC are apparently back in training and there will be some form of cover in the next week or so.
Not sure about landing fees, last I heard they were going up significantly.

So, according to NOTAMS ATZ still suspended, no training including touch and go, no ATC and FIRE AND RESCUE CAT 1 AVBL MON-FRI 0700-2000, SAT-SUN 0900-1900. CAT 2 AVBL BY ARRANGEMENT. But the fees are well in place to land after PPR. Hmmmmmm.
I wanted to go back to Coventry but with stupid fees and parking charges I think my current flying club will be keeping my finances.

Latest I've heard is that Air Traffic is due to be up and running on Tuesday 3rd August, with operating hours 0900–1700L Mon–Fri whilst they continue training. This is still dependent on the CT and RADAR being back online (servicable).

Coventry Airport website (Latest News) is showing details of an ambitious event on 26th September marking the return of full operations at CVT and raising money for Help for Heroes.

Lead news item on BBC "Midlands Today" at lunchtime, and included interview with Sir Peter who is considering the return of commercial passenger flights if a suitable airline can be interested.
Strong backing from spokesman from local Chamber of Commerce.
Welcome back Baginton!

I wonder whether Ryanair will look at CVT now, can the runway handle a 738 to the likes of AGP and FAO etc?
CVT is perfect for Ryanair operations; small, efficient and probably a great deal could be done. I could see the potential for the BHX base to be moved over due to "differences" over pricing in the long run.
Maybe they could start with a few non-based flights to test the water, ie AGP, ALC, FAO etc.
I really dont see any other airline being that interested, think its too low cost for EasyJet.
Maybe bmibaby could make a go though as BHX vs Monarch and Ryanair is difficult for them.

The runway is not suitable for B738 operations. I would have thought a more realistic initial aspiration would be somebody doing a Jersey service with a turboprop next summer.

Ryanair
It didnt take long for this one to pop up did it.
Lets jump straight back into the frying pan that has just been escaped from, attract airlines that want to fly for nearly nothing, take on all the infrastructure costs and go bust again. I dont think so.
If 24 hr operation is obtained I would have though get some freight flights back would be the best way forward as well as bizz/private.
The 737 800 is not commercially viable from Coventry.

Echoing the above posts, the BBC Midlands evening news did have an interview with a University expert who said caution was needed, because since TOM ceased operations at Coventry, Ryanair had indeed established at Birmingham, therefore needed to more of a niche operator if one was found for Coventry.
Longer term though he felt that capacity problems at Birmingham, now sans second runway, could lead for a complimentary role for Coventry.
Lovely panned shot on the TV piece of a light single taking off, against a background of the Nimrod, the DC6 in British Eagle colours, DC3's, and the four-turboprop freight jobbies whose name just escapes me at present. (Electras?) etc etc.
