Im just curious, but as the airport is closed/unlicensed. Can you still fly in as a PPL holder? I assume PPR of the council/land owner?
I believe the airport is only available to based aircraft and those with a reason to visit, e.g. for maintenance. The based owners have had to apply to the administrators for PPR and furnish evidence that they are insured for operation from an unlicensed airfield. Please do not just fly-in, the last thing we need at the moment is any sort of incident!

I can ASSURE you I am NOT on a wind up ! What I can assure you is if you read back the posts on the timeline on this thread and look at what has actually been announced, with regard to the 'new ownership' and also for that matter 'the demise of Almat Club', you will soon see that I AM in the 'ball park'.
With regards to the 'Two men in a pub' I can only pass on what I heard and ACTUALLY saw with my own eyes and heard with my own ears. If it doesn't happen then please don't shoot the messenger.

This IS a rumour network and until anything IS signed, it remains JUST THAT! However, some posts have more strength than others and some of the drivel you read on hear is worthy of ' standup material'. (Maybe they could do it in a Brighton Bar ?

Anyway, just finished for the day now at Atlantic and just having a quiet pint without the Swiss Cheeses anywhere in sight. Can't find out if they are staying here tonight but who knows............

As you say Jenny, why would anybody want to go to Coventry when BHX is down the road ? Well, I once went to Brighton....and I would far sooner go elsewhere than there too,........... but each to their own.

Let's see what happens this week and if I hear anymore then I will let everyone know.

Who's Godwin?

Godwin's Law (also known as Godwin's Rule of Nazi Analogies or Godwin's Law of Nazi Analogies) is a humorous observation made by Mike Godwin in 1990 which has become an Internet adage. It states: "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1

Windforce,

I am sorry if I have upset you and got up your flaps but what I can tell you is that I seem to be letting out SOME information that others won't. Why do you think the Media have not got involved yet? I could actually tell you the answer to that one as I know somebody at Central News too !

The biggest problem is with lack of information coming from CCC and when, and ONLY when, the final deal is done, will a press announcement be made. Until then, myself and a few others have dared to let a few chickens out of the coop. Yes I am sure you will say that I seem to have eaten most of them in the Oak with all the time I spend in there. Well, let's see what happens shall we. Where there is no information it festers and leads to all sorts of rumourmongering.

Substantiation time :

"Announcement to follow in next couple of days that a deal to sell the airport to a British consortium has now been agreed" 23/12.
That WAS fact...then the Swiss put more wonga on the table and CCC got greedy !

The Airport will become fully operational again on the 18th January, 2010 and will become a Cargo centre open 24/7 Monday through Friday with full ATC but weekend opening hours yet to be finalised after more discussion. GA will be encouraged, as will training.23/12
Exactly what was going to be published in the press release. That put the UK consortiums noses out of joint and left them rather upset. Then CCC grovelled to the Swiss ..........and lookwhat happened last week.....

"The Swiss have pulled out"......
What you WON'T know though is that they paid a huge non returnable sum for exclusive due diligence so obviously Price Waterhouse Coopers the liquidators, were VERY happy.....no rush now.....until the liquidator just said to CCC last week that they will start selling the assets off if a deal is not done this week.

THOSE ARE FACTS.......so, "ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ". There is the statement from CCC. Use as many of the letters as many times as you want and it can be adjusted to suit yourself if you are unhappy with my 'information'.

I stated a week ago "watch this space for more interesting news in 2 days time" and Almat went belly up on the day I said 'interesting news would emerge'. I may be a study kid but I am connected and know a few people who love keeping 'secrets'...but can't. If I REALLY posted the truth, the Journo's would have a field day with all the incompetence.

Ultimately I want a job at the end of studies and I want a working airfield now too. In the meantime wait for the powers that be to do their worst.

Might pop in the Oak lunchtime tomorrow. Anyone fancy a pint ?

As I said it earlier on, it's all about rumours... And as far as I'm concerned, I won't trust this conversation anyway....

For what I know, in my current situation, I didn't get any sort of confirmation about any deal, from any official source or from the people I live with everyday in CVT airport.

Moreover all I hear in CVT is words like "relocation", "redundancy", and all this sort of stuff. We are waiting for an official statement since ages, after more than one month, just one thing is quite sure... CVT is closed, and everything else is just speculation!

Actually I might... Well everyone here might come for a pint tomorrow... If we have the same luck you had, we may meet all CCC and dealers...!

That would worth a trip to the Oak for sure!

Nav3,

Most, when hearing voices in their head and witnessing visions go for God, or the Virgin Mary, you seem to be afflicted by visions and voices of potential CVT airport buyers...

de·lu·sion n.1. a. The act or process of deluding.
b. The state of being deluded.

2. A false belief or opinion: laboured under the delusion that success was at hand.
3. Psychiatry A false belief strongly held in spite of invalidating evidence, especially as a symptom of mental illness: delusions of persecution.

If, as you said, you are not on a wind-up, then the above should cover what is actually happening.

where is it all going !

Having watched this thread for sometime and having a personal interest into the outcome of the airport I do hope that some of the posts contain some truth, but as others have said on numerous occasions until I see or hear any hard evidence of a buyer im going to treat it as hear say !! but keep up the good detective work makes for good reading if anything else !

A delusion is held in the face of incontravertible evidence that the delusion is false. At the moment there is no concrete evidence in either direction and so nav3 cannot be said to be deluded.

Here's hoping that at least some of what has been overheard in the Oak is true. I have heard similar stories from other sources but cannot say whether these are any more reliable nor whether the original source for the information is the same

Well Nav3 seems to have a bit of insider information, although the real source of his information is certainlynot from where he says it is from.

The rumours or facts whichever way you look at it he gives are fairly accurate.
There have been a number of interested parties, sadly the two main players decided not to proceed due to their own reasons, but there is now interest again, and we will wait and see. Thos of us who wish the airport well and want it to proceed will keep our fingers crossed that the news will be good.

What people seem to forget is it isnt just the council that these people have to negotiate with, but also Price Waterhouse the liquidators, who still have to try to achieve the best deal for the creditors, whilst the council are trying to find a suitable buyer for the airport, to most importantly keep it as an airport.

To those detractors, like Penelope and Jenny, who sit and barb from their ivory tower, I would love to know where they get off on the suffering of those who have lost, and may well lose their jobs and buisnesses.
Oh and Jenny I see you are into Dictionary defentitions, here is one from the Midlands, see if it fits
pomp⋅ous

–adjective 1. characterized by an ostentatious display of dignity or importance: a pompous minor official. 2. ostentatiously lofty or high-flown: a pompous speech. 3. characterized by pomp, stately splendor, or magnificence.

Judging the long and glorious posting hsitory of the latest to defend Nav3's made up stories, here is another possibilty for you..

A person suffering from schizophrenia - Multiple personalities - has at different times of his life, changing in seconds, minutes or days totally different manifestations of personality aspects. Just like being a totally different person within that body ! Acting differently, reacting differently, behaving differently, even speaking, dressing, or eating differently - all aspects of his personality may be affected including social behavior and relationship or love live / sexual behavior may be affected.

This is soomething different from "rumours", it's just downright lying to get a reaction and/or spurious credibilty.

One thing I do know is that there have been no serious bidders for the Airport, and none are expected to come over the horizon anytime soon.

Starting "rumours" like this for whatever reason a businessman in the North East may have to do so does nobody any good and merely detracts from the reality.

Jenny,Your arrogance defys belief.

The fact is there is currently an interested party in the airport, although that doesnt gaurantee that the deal will come off.

Whether you believe it or not frankly doesnt matter but accusing Nav3 of downrigt lying is just the mark of an incredibly bitter person.

I would love to know how you can state that there have been no serious bidders for the airport when the fact is there has. How do you know otherwise please educate us.

I just dont understand your hatred for all things CVT, and why you get off on its struggles, perhaps you are a bitter ex employee

I wasn't going to chip in on this debate - but that last post really has tipped me over the edge!

Before I start, I shall declare that I have no interest in CVT other than an occasional user of both the airfield and ATC. No relatives, and no friends in immediate danger as a result. It is however, technically my nearest airfield. EGBW being the next, but EGBK is my "home"!

Now... Jenny: This is a RUMOUR network. Nav3 is passing nothing more than rumours... things he heard from a man in the pub. Luckily the average consumer of this forum is capable of evaluating the source of this information and judging how reliable they feel the data is.

Even more luckily, even those that write it off as total tosh don't have the bad manners of accusing someone of being delusional or schizophrenic for simply stating what they believe. You're not doing yourself any favours by being so rude - if you don't believe him, say so politely - and if you have reasons to back up your mistrust even better. Other than he is as entitled to his version of events as I think most readers of this thread are entitled to their opinion of you!

Manners really do cost nothing, and go an exceptionally long way. If you have nothing constructive to add, please don't criticise those who believe they do.

Some people just like to kick people or organisations when they're down .
In this country all we as a nation appear to do well is moan and groan and all ways look on the dark side.
Half the people, infact probably over 75% of the people, who post on this forum have nothing to do with aviation ,other than an interest that borders on an obsession .
Most of the people know more than the people involved, or at least know a friend of a friend who knows more than the rest of us because He/She knew lloyd George.
Now after three------ breath in------------------------
------Breath out --------------------------------
Now go on you know you feel better, or if not I know someone who told someone, who told me with absolute certainty that you said you felt better down the Oak last night !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lets stay calm, not get bitchy because some one knows or claims to know more than you do .
Lets just hope Coventry re opens which I believe it will do ( and I know F all, or at least someone who told me they knew F all (it could of course been Bu--er all ) but I digress

I think we are starting to lose the plot here...

Don't we forget it's a rumour network, a forum, a place where you will see voices and intresting "news" on topics related to aviation and not only.

What you could probably get from here is just an "idea" on what is going on and on what it might be... Nothing else and nothing more than that...

I would love to know how you can state that there have been no serious bidders for the airport when the fact is there has
Have I heard the word "fact"? I do apologize, but I cannot take anything as official here or as a fact... Nothing is coming from an official source; I do not think that nav3 is a wind up, but I'm not taking what he says as the truth just because it's the only source.

Anyway I haven't heard any official statement from CCC, or CVT Airport Management Board, or CAA, or from the administrators. We will have facts on CVT status and future only when we'll have an official statement from an official source...

Until that point, it will be just a rumour, a voice, that can give us an idea... But it's still far away from something that could give me any hope in CVT future.

Ah....Feel a pint coming on! might pop down to the dream factory too for one
Definitely we must all have a pint at the Oak... I think that CCC is having meetings on daily basis overe there...!

There was one official bid that was in on time (before christmas) which was turned down by the liquidators for not being enough (unfortuanatly such is their business the liquidators are desperate to get as much out of this as they can), and then a very rich interested party that came in last minute (the swiss) that the liquidators wanted to go with because of the money behind them..

However I have heard from more than one source that they pulled out the day the anouncement was due, I have since heard that they have been brought back to the table (unfortuanatly I cannot confrim this last bit)
Like others on here I have a vested interest in CVT reopening.

Short of an announcement by Coventry council or unless management from the airport or the council are posting on here this is probably about as close to facts that I think you will get.

For those of you 'defending' my posts, I thank you very much.

For those making cutting statements that I know nothing, you don't know me, who I am, where I am or what I do or actually where the information comes from.

There are though two things ...fact and non fact. The grey area in the middle has a sliding scale. The problem with fact is that it never gets published until it IS fact. Non fact, gets distorted on a sliding scale and depending upon who is in posession of the facts is able to distort them accordingly. However, there are many people at CVT who as desperate for information but not getting it which is why rumours abound. Some people keep knowledge to themselves, others try their best to impart it.

I have actually registered with Price Waterhouse as 'an interested party of the airfield assets', anyone can, money has no barriers. However, that gets me NOTHING at all. I phone and ask for information and they say nothing except "CCC are in negotiations".
You phone the council, and you get nothing except "we are in negotiations". You then speak to those in the know at CVT and some more than others know things.

So, using a friend of a friend who is a secretary at CCC who can 'see what is going on inside there to some degree' , sometimes is a better source of info. Also, when 'Two men in a pub, sound like Jerome K Jerome' then that too can be taken as 'what I heard and saw'.However, I DID actually hear and see that.

All I am merely trying to do is to post any information here which MAY point to a solution. IF people have had hopes raised of getting jobs back I am sorry as that was NOT the intention, but in this real world of ours, the airport will never re-employ people in the way it did. Neither in the short term will it go back to the 'operational state' it was when it closed in December.

I agree that this has dragged on far too long and that it has to be resolved soon.

To Jenny - first of all, when you address me, please at least have the common decency to say which 'one of me' you are addressing if I am schizophrenic! I do feel for sorry for you for your aggression towards me but whatever people will say about me, I am NOT a wind up and I most certainly DO NOT tell lies. I am one of the most genuine people you could care to meet.

As Amcapt89 says, FACT will only be published WHEN it IS fact. Until then, this remains a rumour network.

Some people have some dignity, others clearly don't. C'est la vie'. (see, maybe I COULD understand what the two men in the pub were saying-------but then again Jenny thinks I can't spake Inglish enyway !!
