There were some cancellations during the bank holidays on both Edinburgh & Glasgow routes similar to what can be found on other airlines/operators.

There has been other one or two other cancellations however these have been due to operational reasons.

I can say that no cancellations have been made due to low loads and apart from the bank holidays non-operational flights all cancellations have been unavoidable.

After BACF announcing larger aircraft on LCY-RTM earlier this month and Cyrano's indication that BACF would likely launch LCY-DUB coming true, what future does Cityjet have at LCY ? Discuss

Looks like DUB LCY by BA might be another hammer blow for CityJet.
Can't see much of a future for CityJet.
F50 routes are average at best- I believe the Cambridge stuff has crap pax nos and others 1/2 full.
RJ routes not great either.

Various websites already have this change - 3 daily HOP E190

That seems one less a day than Cityjet at present but of course more seats per flight.

Is Dresden going summer seasonal (or being dropped) or is it just being amended in the booking system post October 2014 ?
CAA stats indicates in May 2014 that the load factor was 41 %, assuming a 95 seat RJ85 flown Mon-Fri plus Sun with no cancellations. Fares for autumn look reasonably ok though.

With BA eroding their core routes like Amsterdam, Rotterdam & Dublin and effectively forcing them off the Edinburgh route, do they have a future and if so, is it at London City?

I wonder if Amsterdam might go next and KLM operate the route themselves and Dublin perhaps be dropped too once BA ramp up their new service? If so, perhaps Cityjet's future, if they have one, lies away from London City, perhaps utilising other London airports, e.g. Luton or Stansted?

This analysis piece based on a resolutely rose-tinted interview with the new chairman (talking about refleeting, etc.) seems to suggest that Dresden is coming to an end.

Flight is a 5 days a week down to Dresden, I flew it last month and it was around 50% full so no surprise. Wonder if anyone would consider making a go of this route, maybe 3 days a week would be sufficient

CAA stats say 1886 passengers in June. Assuming 21 round trips that's 3990 seats so a 47% load factor. Looks as though your flight was entirely typical and no surprise with numbers like those that the route is being cut.

In the past week or so I've dealt with three of the RJ85s which have been painted in what appears to be some kind of interim paint scheme, EI-RJC,JI and JN if I recall correctly. Are we to expect a rebrand shortly I wonder?

That, unfortunately, is reputed to be their new livery, along with the bland new VLM livery on the Fokkers. I dunno what the plan is with them anymore, are they splitting in 2 or something?

I would be interested to see the CAA stats for the services out of Cambridge for them for the AMS & DUB routes in July and August. I guess they will be patient and try to grow/develop these routes, however I have heard some of these Fokker 50's are flying with single digit passenger loads.

Came through DUB again on the way back to LCY a couple of days ago and chatted with staff about loads on the Cambridge, which was on the adjacent stand. Some looking at feet, then told that it "was improving a bit", and that there had been one golden flight with 30 pax !

One of the issues is that Ryanair and Stansted, and their fares and frequencies on this route, are just down the road. Cityjet fare levels may work at LCY but not nearly so well out in the country.

For new route load factors it's never quite clear how much is paid passengers and how much is freebie to local travel agents and journalists etc as part of the introductory marketing.

Some interesting quotes in that article

the biggest carrier at London’s business-focused City Airport
Intro aims to tap London City’s corporate appeal to turn CityJet profitable
Intro is studying CityJet-VLM options that could result in an all-Bombardier fleet of either the CS100 or CS300 CSeries variants, or a combination of the CS300 plus the longest-range Superjet 100LR, which has engines powerful enough for the steep takeoff required from London City, Woehrl said
.
CSeries and Superjets - brave!

The company is planning a shake-up of CityJet routes, with services between London City and Germany likely to be scrapped
Intro, which could still push back a decision on the City fleet for a year, may also acquire Airbus A320s or Boeing 737s for operations away from the London terminal, Woehrl said.
and finally:

While Intro said May 1 that it would continue to operate 700 flights a week from City, Cardiff and Cambridge airports, announcements by rivals have “meaningfully changed” the competitive situation, the executive added
.

Obviously not a very well-informed article, ignoring the comment about the size of Cityjet at LCY, there are also no german routes left, so withdrawal is not likely, but took place (with DRS as final route widely known to be terminated end of October).
