I just seem to remember reading it. Something about them raising taxes to make smaller aircraft not economical to run. Would make sense seing as slots and stands are at a premium. Would think the New York and Edingburgh routes can still make money because the first comands good yeilds and the latter is the most popular route.

Eastern can make money on routes where the passengers are in single figures, the particular issue here was that the dicsount period on charges came to an end and LCY wanted to bump them up to a level that made the route unviable.

Whether the axe fell because revenue failed to materialise for Eastern or LCY were keen to discourage a 29 seater clogging up the apron at peak time I'm not sure.

Cityjet Air France Rosters anyone??

Hi,
Can anyone give me examples of a monthly roster from the Dublin based cabin crew for Cityjet??
Do they mostly nightstop (like 5days away, 2 days off) or is it less than that??
Caused I'd hate to be nightstopping 5on 2off constantly

Also what can I expect in pay (basic & commission etc.)?

I really need to know if anyone has answers

Thanx

If you'd hate to be away for 5 days alot then start looking at a different airline. 3-6 day trips is the norm. You would be away alot.

Hi thanks for the reply, I really dont mind the 6 day trip once or twice a month, just not the whole time. But will they have me returning to Dublin on nights at all or are they all 3,4,5+ day trips only?? Like would I ever checkin & checkout on the same day?

There are days when you'll just do LCY and back but most weeks are made up of 4-6 day trips. You'd be away alot!

Just noticed on the Jethro's website that cityjet have recently WFU EI-RJT & EI-RJU from service.

They also appear to have removed 3 F50's from service they are OO-VLR, OO-VLT & OO-VLV . Does anyone know if this just temporarily?.

I am suprised that WX are removing aircraft from there fleet especially with the busy peak summer season about to begin.

Im afraid I don't know the reason for WX withdrawing aircraft from service, but I would question the assumption that the summer season is necessarily such a busy peak for CityJet. For the LCY network, my impression is that loads on the key business routes decline significantly over July-August, so this is essentially "low season" for them. According to Jethro's, the two RJs you mention are both in CityJet rather than Air France livery, therefore part of the LCY fleet rather than the CDG one.

Have Cityjet been put up for sale by AF-KLM yet? Likely buyers?

They used to be interchangeable and then for a period, Air France coloured aircraft were rare at LCY. Nowadays they are pretty common again so I don't thing they have a CDG and an LCY fleet as such anymore.
EI-RJD has been painted into Air France colours and EI-RJG has gone the other way.

What's the latest with Cityjet ? Some summer routes seem to be unavailable, so wondering whether this is just because the company isn't ready yet, or there's something going on (e.g. significant business plan changes / change of major shareholders) behind the scenes...

Could work well this route, as AB will drop NUE-LGW in January.

So CityJet will follow in AB's footsteps just as it did on FMO-LON.

When booking for summer 2013 out of LCY,some routes (e.g. Avignon or Toulon) give a popup message saying the route will return for the next summner season, even if schedules are not publicly available.
Brive, Deauville, Eindhoven and Pau do not give this response.

Anyone know if it's a fair guess to say these 4 routes from LCY are unlikely to return ?

I doubt it, there's been a host of LCY-Germany routes tried, mostly by Lufthansa Regional, indeed I believe even Munich is about to be dropped by Lufty. This rather random and niche destination seems a little unlikely, especially given that the market leader cannot make anything beyond FRA-LCY work.
Didn't LH drop this one a while back?

LH to MUC is indeed pulling out in a couple of weeks.

However, LON-MUC is a highly competitive market.

LON-NUE isn't. Served by AB at the moment, who pull out in Jan13 just before CityJet takes over, CityJet will be providing the only LON connection from the region. In 2011, AB carried around 117k pax on NUE-LON (first STN, then switch to LGW). With 737-700. and AB is not exactly charing LCC prices, more Norwegian style pricing. Weekly rotations down by one, A/C down to Avro, it sounds workable.

There are several minor destinations served from London City (Dundee for example, or several in France) which only work because they are the only service from any London airport. Having the only city-pair service is quite different to something which competes for that market with operations from Heathrow, Gatwick, etc, and/or with multiple operators.

Apart from transfers onward with Lufty at Frankfurt/Munich, the sizeable market between the UK and Germany is pretty much just point-to-point.
