The problem they have is that they don't have any 50 seat aircraft, only the RJ fleet. They sold VLM which was the F50 operator within the Cityjet business. Sure they could go out and re-fleet but are they in a strong enough position to even look at that?

Fleet

What about the superjet? Is proving itself in Mexico for a low cost operator and is cheaper to purchase. Think Interjet have just increased their order to 30. Would be a good choice for cityjet in my opinion.

Nice full page ad in CityAM Today, with the tag 'SimpliCITY'.

This is a PDF of the paper, the ad is on Page 18.

What future for CityJet?

Restructured then sold to ... an airline that has slowly made a niche in the UK regions and has just stuck a toe into London City... FlyBe!

I can't see Flybe taking over Cityjet. I'm sure they are circling like a vulture waiting to snap up those slots though.

Snap up the LCY slots? What on earth for? It's not as though flybe have been particularly successful with most of their initial crop of LCY routes (despite having pretty good slots).

Not sure what is going on with their CWL operation at the moment. Stobart's spare ATR 72-200 EI-REH (the only one in Stobart's own livery) is operating the flights at the moment, while CityJet livered EI-REI is currently doing Aer Lingus Regional runs. Anyone know why? Does REI keep needing to go back to Dublin for some reason (maintenance etc.)?

Sticking to the Avro's

Interesting bit of news today on the Austrian site aeroTelegraph which basically states that Cityjet will continue flying their Avro's for now and they're not in a hurry to find a replacement.

The complete article in German -based on an interview with owner Hans Rudolf Wöhrl - is here, but what it boils down to is this:

- "Lower oil prices means there's less pressure to replace the fleet"
- There aren't many options anyway, given the LCY restrictions
- "The C-series isn't quite ready yet and I'm glad we have more time to decide"
- Wöhrl points to delays with the only other viable candidate - the Sukhoi - as well. Delays at VLM have shown that it will take some time to get the LR version ready for LCY use. Interestingly, if CityJet would choose the Sukhoi, they would apparently go for the LR version as well. Not sure what routes they have in mind.

It seems Cityjet has cancelled the London - Deauville route, maybe as Ryanair is now operating the route?

Any news on Cardiff with the upcoming Flybe competition?

Are CityJet planning a return of the CWL-JER flights ? I've just been on WX webpage and it's showing CWL-JER as one of their routes but no flights listed to book.

This was previously removed from the booking search engine when they stopped last year and was not on there last month when I booked a Paris flight.

It also says 5 flights a week on the webpage.

I've seen JER listed as a possible destination from CWL at least two months ago. So if they are planning to add it to the actual booking engine, it sure is taking them a long time to do so.

Also, not all possible city pairs are necessarily direct flights. There's also ANR-RTM in there, with a connection in LCY (pretty silly route, I know).

Saw an advert today by Cityjet displaying their strapline 'simplicity'. It was advertising Dublin to Paris with a stop/ change in London City. Is this the most creative that can be achieved? They already operate the Dublin Paris service as AF and so in effect spending money to drive a competing service....

Equally Dublin Paris is one of Dublin's busiest routes, soon to have 3 airports in Paris served. hardly a large prize to be gained... I'd have thought for Cityjet

Cityjet only got the protection of the AF codeshare on CDG-DUB for a couple of years after independence (or was it 18 months?). When it's gone, either mainline or HOP! will put another nail in WX's coffin.

PS just because Ryanair say Beauvais is in Paris doesn't mean it is! It's the same as saying Dublin-Shannon timewise

Hi Una Due tfc,

I get your point, I still struggle to see how Cityjet trying to promote a DUB CDG via LCY could be value for advertising money and indeed given the scale of the current DUB CDG route.

Yes BVA has to be one of the most out of town airports, did if before.

Would marketing a route to Europe via LCY like Antwerp, Dresden or Florence not be better?

Yeah I completely agree, marketing a service via LCY in competition with your own direct service seems bizarre. A hub model via LCY, maybe, but it would need to be either considerably cheaper or more convenient than going from say DUB or EDI or wherever direct to a different airport nearby and getting the train or whatever. With fuel cheap ATM they can be competitive. The only reason fuel is cheap is because the West is punishing Russia, and things have calmed down quite a bit with Iran. If either of those things change, WX will feel it worse than most.

Is DUB-CDG a codeshare or an AF flight WX operate under contract to AF?

A contract. They use AF callsign on the RT. It was guaranteed to them for either 18 months or 2 years after independence. After that, anything can happen.

CWL-EDI and CWL-ORY will be suspended end of June. LCY-DRS is not available from end of October. What will be next?

DRS is to be dropped from 13th September.

Does anyone know how long VG are going to continue to operate F50's on behalf of WX on there LCY to ANR, NTE and RTM routes?.
