Shannon
Given that LPL Shannon had previously been identified as a poor performer and was only scheduled to operate at 3 per week in Winter this year, is this an attempt to force Aer Lingus Regional off the route?

The question I have about this is what will keep aer lingus regional on that route now do they have business commitments that people will use the route and do many transit from the Manchester side. People seem to forget they have been a lifeline for the airport over the last few years. Maybe they will axe the afternoon flight and replace it with Liverpool or Glasgow.

Really disappointed in EIR, to drop a 3x daily route before the competition has even appeared on the scene. Is FR going to chase them out of everywhere? They will need to stand firmer than that.

Could this be the route that was rumored earlier this year? It was rumored to be a direct flight to the East Coast, but not currently served from Dublin.
Or would there be a demand for this route?

Such a route wont happen. The US carriers have a minimal presence in Rhode Island and its largely regional carriers and Aer Lingus are not going to consider it as BOS is less than 1 hour away l.

Not happening! 2016 earliest for any further narrow body aircraft joining. They wouldn't bother flying 4 weekly to ORD when UA have a daily service. Completely pointless and it will achieve low yield. YYZ will be even worse.

What's wrong with competing with the American Airlines! I've always found
United's fare's to be at the high end. Plus they weren't flying daily
For the whole season!!!
"The summer service will operate during the period May 23 to Sept. 15, 2014, a longer period than last year. The frequency of the service is five flights weekly during the periods May 23 to Jun. 16 and Aug. 19 to Sep. 1, daily between Jun. 17 and Aug. 18, and four flights weekly between Sept. 2 and Sept. 15 "

of the year?
Its not happening anyway. As for price, all airlines operating ex IRL in the summer are expensive.
Also rumoured was a reduction in summer BOS/JFK frequency to fit 2x YYZ and 3x MCO but it's not actually happening either.

On a more general note about EI adding capacity/ routes ex Shannon to the U.S.; surely their focus must be on DUB and building the transit point that it is, with the wide range of destinations on their Dublin Map, it makes perfect sense.
I was quite surprised by recent statements by Aer Lingus on the level of capacity growth it plans up to 2018... On the light side I'd have thought. Especially in light of growth of intensity by Ryanair at the moment ... Slightly off topic here!

I agree but it depends on where the 4 little red aircraft go, plus the YHZ route on 320sx2 , so maybe news to come? Long haul of course is booming , news on new routes overdue

Little Red contract end is confirmed so is it?
1 (or 2) of those 320's may already be spoken for , the others I'd bet are destined for sun routes where EI are performing strongly ...
