0.0065% of non revenue business
At one level, I don't disagree. Shannon's non-transit and non-domestic business actually did register an increase.

The problem is just the messing. The blatant messing, and the attitudes that go with it.
And I'm afraid I have to quibble. I can almost anticipate that you'll say your intention was to cite percentages in decimal format. Unfortunately, there isn't enough trust for me to accept that.
Because, you see, you've two decimal places too many. Its 0.65% of Shannon's business. If you rounded it, it would be 1%. !% is actually quite a lot, for a gimmick.

Putting it in context, the Santa flights carried the equivalent of more than two average days of Shannon traffic.
Not a small thing. Worth commenting on.

Shannon is hardly the first airport to do Santa flights for kids at Christmas, i remember Manchester ran them for years when it perhaps cared more about the community, schools and kids with special needs which Shannon helped with. Very credible too for Ryanair to get lots of publicity for its 10 new destinations from this Spring by using this as a way to publicise (and they did generate loads of publicity for all those new destinations), and cheaper than media advertising.
Moving on to more current matters, today Shannon received a A380 AF transit from LAX to CDG with 518 pax on board.....any pics?

Moving on <...>
Repeating the denial around this story isn't "moving on". Moving on is, simply, moving on.

The point is not particulary about Santa flights, as exhaustively pointed out at this stage. The point is about artificially boosting passenger numbers, so that a tiny decline can be represented to be a small increase.

There were about 4,500 seats involved. That's enough to transport one third of all primary school children in Count Clare. I'd need to see figures on how this is cheaper than taking out space in the Clare Champion. Because, if it's such a good deal, why isn't everyone doing it?

Still, somewhat better than Shannon paying him to land there as per his previous proposals.

Anyone know how the new 757 BOS route is doing load and booking wise?

Passenger bookings I've heard are doing very well in economy. Overbooked in many cases by by 8-10 pax. Business about half full to three quarters full. But I'm sure with the Y class overbooked the upgrades will fill the remaining J class seats too. Very positive news indeed.
