I think it's kinda unlikely for SNN to get LGW - that would definatly take from EI's NOC pax , as what FR experienced when trying to beat EZY away (offering daily flights between LGW-NOC, SNN) etc...

Yes...people from these parts are going to trek 3 hours on some of the worst roads in the country to fly with EI from NOC to LGW. The impact would be minimal I suspect.

Im sure some pax from Galway will go to SNN instead of NOC but if EI carry more passengers to LGW then they wont mid loosing a few to gain many more

Are u serious! when was the last time you travelled in the west 2005!? theres Motorway all the way now from Limerick to Gort and then a good road from Tuam to Sligo - also a new Motorway from Gort to Claremorris-(Just 5km from NOC) is due to open in FEB 11. And 3 hours journey time are you for real it just takes around 2hours from Limerick to Knock. I can understand where EirJet is coming from as the 3rd based aircraft is in-op until 12:00 every day.

Deadly serious, I drive it regularly! Never done it under 2 hours 30 pushing on...The new Crusheen-Gort part of the M18 might take about 10 minutes off the journey, but until Gort is bypassed the journey is very unattractive

Tuam to Claremorris has not yet started construction, at least 2013 before that opens at an estimate

I believe LGW-SNN will be introduced on LGW metal. As I said above it is mentioned in Cara, not on the graphical part of the routemaps, but it is there in the destination list from LGW, there is an article on London and SNN-LGW is mentioned there too.

SNN has been getting a lot of love from EI at the minute, they obviously see an opportunity there. I would expect LGW to be launched the day of the first CDG, or closely after it. Still a slim chance the flights could go to ORK I suppose, but I think its extremely unlikely at this point.

FR to return BVA.

Just found out that FR are returning SNN-BVA from next March. This is a total joke i new this would happen!! there's never going to be positive news from SNN once FR are their i wonder how long CDG will last now !! SAA need to sort out shop and give FR a right talking too if they got rid of FR you'd expect EZY to STN, LGW maybe even LTN and FR would then be payin taxes & fee's no problem...

I hope SAA sort this out and that EI will maintain the CDG service.

In fairness once Aer Lingus don't charge excessively for the flights CDG could work in their favour. Beauvais is a dreadful airport, possibly one of Ryanair's worst.

Everything from the airport to the the horrific journey from the airport which costs an exuberant €15 each way.

Well they have 4 months to get themselves established on the route, so if they can offer a better service with better connections at decent prices, then they should be able to compete no bother.

The problem is price though, and we've seen with the Dublin-Cork route that Ryanair are more than willing to lose money on a route just to win market share.

Time will tell...

FR had SNN - BVA on sale on Wednesday but it has been taken down but it will return. It showed as operating on Sunday, Tuesday & Friday.

The SNN based a/c will be busy next summer.

Most FR summer 2011 routes seem to be loaded.

EDI removed from the booking system.
BVA looks to be loaded from mid March though still not bookable.

As long as Ryanair remain in Shannon, you will find very few short/medium haul airlines consider Shannon as a destination.
It is a difficult situation for the SAA.
Maybe it is now now time to consider SNN as a viable Cargo Hub for Transatlantic freight, will require investment in terms of ramp space and building of sorting centres etc. Worked for EMA.

blue air reg. yr-bia had a smoke indication shortly after takeoff this morning.it took off on 06 but did a 180 and landed on 24 and vacated the runway safely.the lon-snn ei flight was planning on a 06 arrival but was vectored towards 24 and then flew a visual approach to the runway.the benefits of a cold and frosty morning as the porridge ad used to say!

Irish Times story: "Shannon abandoning low-cost model in bid to increase passenger numbers."

Sample quote: “There is no quick fix to Shannon. There is no white knight or foreign carrier going to come in and set up a base. That applies to Irish aviation and not just to Shannon.”

Seems a realistic view to me...
