Gain or loss?
15 additional rotations per week , even at modest load factors, will represent an increase of 3000+ passengers weekly. I'm sure that will be very welcome off-season business in the south & west of Ireland. Ryanair certainly seem to be living up to their commitment there.

Rome went from five per week down to two. The loads werent great.....
No demand for it. BGY/TSF/NTE do very well during the summer months.
I don't know what they are going to do in Summer 08' when all these routes are to come back into operation- that along with the new routes today.....?

No real gain ...
... other than 15 flights a week this winter (assuming frequencies on routes not mentioned today remain constant and that my maths is right):
Out: -7 flights per week on BOH (3), LCJ (2) and CIA (2)
Out: -20 flights per week this winter on BIQ (3), CCF (3), BGY (4), MJV (3), NTE (3) and TSF (4)
In: + 5 flights per week on EDI (+3) and MAN (+2)
In: + 37 flights per week on BHX (7), FUE (1), KUN (2), LBA (3), RIX (2), DUB (14), TFN (1), LTN (7)
Net gain: +15

How will be possible to make this extra 15 weekly flights?
Will be based an extra plane at SNN?

I see gaelgoir that you think this is good for the West of Ireland. It is anything but. It is a cynical attempt by FR and SNN airport management to launch an attack on GWY, look at the routes, and the statement relative to Galway by SNN's manager. Unfortunately there is not sufficient critical mass to support the volume of services operated out of Shannon by FR. By the time FR are finished they will have tried their hand at every European destination possible and damage every other carriers business from Shannon or operating from a nearby airport. They have demonstarted how quickly they drop routes. When they eventually retract from the West of Ireland there will be no services left to this part of the world as their groping in the dark looking for successful routes will have damaged everyone else's business. I say to the tourism interests in Galway, and in particular Galway Chamber of Commerce, look after your own airport, forget about supporting Shannon. As a matter of interest anyone know what happened to the marketing guy at Galway? He departed recently shortly after the previous manager. The engineering manager from bournemouth was appointed manager at gwy and the marketing manager at gwy left!

For example the time it takes to fly SNN - BGY - SNN (1 flight) is equal to SNN - LBA - SNN - BHX - SNN (2 flights).
I'm surprised that BGY is being axed because that was doing very well by all accounts.
I'm also shocked at SNN-DUB twice daily. They'll incur huge losses like on ORK-DUB. Their press release stressed how great the roads from Shannon to Galway were, but then suggested that Limerick to Dublin by road was a nightmare.
Riga and especially Kaunas will earn big bucks for Ryanair this winter at Shannon, and I expect the Canaries will be popular too.
Someone mentioned on the Ryanair thread that SNN - EMA was also being axed?!? Surprised they wouldn't have mentioned it today if that is the case. I'm dubious though.
By the way, BHX is only showing as 6xweekly in the schedule. Maybe a Saturday flight will be added later...
PS: SNN - CIA was operated by a Rome based aircraft.

For now every new route from CIA is not possible due to slot restrictions, the only way is to axe or reduce any existing route.

SNN-DUB will be much worse performing than ORK-DUB.
The road/rail journey from Limerick to Dublin is shorter than from Cork. Shannon is further from Limerick than Cork Airport is from Cork.
While it will probably be welcomed by people living in South Clare, are there enough of them to keep the flights full?

To my knowledge SNN - LCJ did have pretty much sense, I've heard about LF's over 80% and there is an obvious need for Dell to get around between Limerick and Lodz where their new PC factory is being constructed. Or is it just a kind of maneuver (to get more financing and keep the route going)?

No new plane. The new routes are shorter rotations on average than the axed routes.

DL at SNN
SNN - ATL has been cut from the end of September. DUB - ATL will be direct. DL will however operate to JFK direct from SNN 5 days per week. ATL should return next summer.

Apparently discussions are now in an "advanced stage" (according to local newspaper) regarding a proposed service between Shannon and Nova Scotia by Air Canada
Would be a welcome replacement to their Toronto service when it finishes in August
