I see gaelgoir that you think this is good for the West of Ireland. It is anything but. It is a cynical attempt by FR and SNN airport management to launch an attack on GWY, look at the routes, and the statement relative to Galway by SNN's manager. Unfortunately there is not sufficient critical mass to support the volume of services operated out of Shannon by FR. By the time FR are finished they will have tried their hand at every European destination possible and damage every other carriers business from Shannon or operating from a nearby airport. They have demonstarted how quickly they drop routes. When they eventually retract from the West of Ireland there will be no services left to this part of the world as their groping in the dark looking for successful routes will have damaged everyone else's business. I say to the tourism interests in Galway, and in particular Galway Chamber of Commerce, look after your own airport, forget about supporting Shannon. As a matter of interest anyone know what happened to the marketing guy at Galway? He departed recently shortly after the previous manager. The engineering manager from bournemouth was appointed manager at gwy and the marketing manager at gwy left!
