Looks like the Airport or someone very near is now running a ADS transmitter.
Have noticed improved coverage on flightradar24.com today and the transmitter is listed as T-EGAE2
Was even able to track a plane leaving the terminal and taxing to end of runway before taking off.
Normally reception was lost when planes approached several miles out or only picked up a few minutes after taking off.

Turkish Airlines
Turkish Airlines TK3361 due in from Trabzon at 1640. Surely the Airport will plaster social media with photos. When will LDY ever see a Turkish Airlines a/c again?

Just been having a chuckle re-reading the City of Derry " Master plan" from 2012. The CAA figures show a 6% decline to 386,171 passengers instead of moving towards the 480,000 to 550,000 expected by 2015. Does this merit a re-working of the 10 year plan given that it was based on figures that are so clearly wrong. I would think that the losses at the airport have increased and the percieved benefit to the economy had decreased. Does anyone know how the business case is loooking? The assunmtions on page 37 are flawed and the projected 2050 figures seem to be little more than a number plucked from thin air and a graph drawn to support continuous growth. If the graph was redrawn to take account of the previous years and what has happened in the last 12 months since it was written it would be clear to see the predictions are a mile out.
How much does the airport loose PA?

Airport have put some pics (some badly out of focus) of the Turkish team arriving on their Facebook page.

PIK down to X5 weekly for Winter 13 with Tues & Thurs currently off sale.
LPL down to X6 weekly for Winter 13 with Wed currently off sale.
If the case then LDY is in for a pretty dire Winter. Isn't it about time RYR stepped aside an let another carrier try a Scottish route, if any would be willing?

Have to agree it is going to be very quiet at LDY on some days
LDY should have smaller operators, but I cannot see anybody coming in whilst FR is there. If they did decide to withdraw then EIR or BE would probably come in and you would probably have more UK destinations.
Maybe DCC should subsides the airporter service rather than the airport.
Thanks for your monthly stats on LDY

Perhaps you meant that Antrim Borough Council, or Belfast City Council should subsidise the Airporter service (which has been running nicely for years with very limited, if any public money).
Maybe I'll drop the relevant people at Antrim Borough Council and Belfast City Council a quick email to see if they'd consider subsidising Translink to take passengers to Dublin Airport.

Airporter
It doesn't seem to have beeen reported previously, but Airporter have discontinued to service from Derry to LDY. It may well have been gone since the April timetable changes.
Also, the extension work to the front of the departure lounge completed around the end of August. Now provides a pre-boarding holding area, where the boarding card check is carried out.

This thread has been so quiet recently that I feel it's only right to spice it up.
Do you guys ever look back at the first dozen pages of this thread? You'll find a couple of dozen guys debating exactly the same sxxt that four or five guys are chirping on about now.
Over the years my opinion hasn't changed, you'll have to learn to manage your expectations. Breaking even is a pipe-dream, making money is complete fantasy. Stop throwing tax payers money down the Foyle and do the decent thing.
It's a GA airfield, wake up and smell the coffee!!!
