To be honest I can't see Derry getting a boost because of the city of culture thing, most people will just think northern Ireland and fly into one of the Belfast airports to do the titanic aswell as city of culture, if airlines where interested in the city of culture then BE would never have left

I think Ryanair will still be the only scheduled airline at CoDA next year but with a few new routes. They will go big time on the city of culture and then probably cancel the routes the following year. Typical FR thing to do?
If FR started a German route would it be sustainable. It would be the only German route out of NI so would folk from Fermanagh, armagh & Down use it?

Furthermore, I recently had ten visitors from the southwest of England over to Derry. All they wanted to see was Derry, Donegal and the Giant's Causeway. None had the appetite to travel to Belfast to pay £17 to visit what one described as "an odd museum dedicated to a ship that sank on its maiden voyage".

Having a look through some old press and found the Ryanair statement regarding pulling all services if the runway wasn't extended. They went on to say the runway length had already prevented them starting routes to Germany, France and Belgium. Funny how once they got the runway extention none of the mentioned were ever tried and in fact Ryanair haven't expaned very much at CoDA. Fair play to MOL for getting what he wants but he is full of bulls*it!

August PAX: 44,458 - Rolling Year: 405,281
Route - Load Factor
Stansted - 87%
Birmingham - 85%
Liverpool - 78%
Prestwick - 61%
Palma - 97%
Reus - 95%
Faro - 91%
Tenerife - 86%
Alicante - 83%
Both TFS & ALC done really well considering they both only ran July & August therefore the last flight out had to be counted as a sector.

County Down won't .
BFS is often accused of being out in the country...you guys are almost in another time zone! Part of your approach is in another jurisdiction!

EI at LDY
Any chance we will see EI start LGW from LDY? In previous press statements the Airport have said one of the London business hub Airport's were a big priority for them to achieve. EI have also confirmed ORK is to stop effective 27th Oct 12, therefore there is a gap to fill. The current a/c schedule is as follows effective start of Summer 13:
LGW 0650 DUB 0810
DUB 0850 LGW 1010
LGW 1040 NOC 1210
NOC 1245 LGW 1415
LGW 1450 LDY 1615 ????
LDY 1650 LGW 1815 ????
LGW 1855 BHD 2015
BHD 2050 LGW 2210
LDY seems to fit in well or will we see the slot given to an extra BHD or DUB sector?

By popular request, here are Ryanair's figures for the year so far, compared to the same period last year. Flights are up by over 10% (due to LPL, PIK and STN). Passengers are lagging behind, up by only 4% which is bringing the load factors down.

The mother is on todays LDY-STN an phoned to say it has a 5.5 hour delay so far. Apparently upon landing the aircraft lost power and occured a significant oil spill. Awaiting engineer from DUB is the current status they've been told. Anyone have any more info?

Prestwick: 5677 / - / 94.6 / 50%
Birmingham: 4618 / +1 / 136 / 72%
Liverpool: 6889 / +17% / 115 / 61%
Faro: 2955 / +3% / 164 / 87%
Palma: 1312 / +2% / 164 / 91%
Reus: 525 / -42% / 131 / 73%

All are correct except REU and PMI.
REU had only inbound on 14th Sept so therefore only 3 sectors giving a LF of 93%.
PMI had only inbound on 25th Sept so therefore only 7 sectors giving a LF of 99%.

Ryanair rather late in adding the 2013 summer routes. NOC already has the usual FAO, TFS & ACE bookable while ALC & FAO are bookable from KIR. Could they still be in discussions regarding what they are gonna add for the City of Culture year? Even better if they made a big announcement on Thursday to correspond with the official Culture year programme! I am almost sure Ryanair will do something for Derry and according to my source one new route is deffo confirmed.

CoDA currently has a tender out for extension of the departure lounge to facilitate extra retail space and also a tender to build a pre-boarding area.
Hopefully good news to come in the coming weeks as Ryanair start to finalise their Summer 2013 plans.
