DERRY/LONDONDERRY
It's about time LDY got a Winter sun route. The article is dated 5th May 2012 so therefore quite recent, TFS was on sale well before this date for Jul & Aug so shouldn't be a mixup of months! Probably typical RYR being fashionably late with announcements.
We'll see I suppose.
As an aside, the city is looking vibrant, and really buzzing today, and only two of the Clipper yachts have actually arrived, with the other eight arriving between tomorrow and Monday. Great to see, and long may it continue. All we need is more inbound tourism, led by our local airport.

TFS should have much stronger yeild during the winter as people have much choice where to take a sun hoilday. This and the fact LS are resuming it from BFS. EI flew 3 or 4 weekly last winter, not sure but I think it was 4 and LS are only launching a weekly service. There is a gap to fill even though EI have added capacity on the route from DUB if its on offer from 2 loco at BFS and LDY the majorty will fly from LDY or BFS unless there have a problem with a loco carrier.
I flew FR LDY to STN on Monday last. I had expected there to be confusion about having two flights within 15 minutes of each other, and indeed there was.
I imagine it's down to aircraft availability, however, surely it would be possible for FR to have scheduled these flights in a more appropriate way? Even an hour apart would aviod the confusion.
Anyway, any confirmation on TFS operating this winter?

A insight to why Flybe didn't return but instead chose Knock.

Just was on the Ryanair website to price LDY-STN flights and Derry had disappeared from the destinations list, was replaced with Londonderry. A glitch or is it a sign of a few changes for LDY? It has since changed back to Derry.
Also I see Falcon and CoDA have finally officially announced the new Lanzarote route today.

Eight to ten airlines? Dusseldorf and Berlin? Hmmmm...

Could we possibly see Lufthansa Regional try a DUS route 1 weekly next year? I can see Flybe coming back for 2013 and possibly Loganair returning to the DUB route? Ryanair will more than likely add a few new euro routes, my money would be on BVA & GRO. After those few airlines I'm not sure who else would be interested?

The Prestwick load factors are pretty rubbish!
They've been dire for years. I reckon the only reason it hasn't been axed (yet) is that the sector is so short.

Lucky indeed not to be axed.
It is a pity because both Glasgow and Edinburgh are huge routes out of Northern Ireland but it is clear there is no chance of Ryanair doing LDY-EDI while PIK has loads like that and I presume little chance of any other operator doing EDI while Ryanair operates LDY-PIK.
Funny when Ryanair started this route that Loganair's load factor rose on LDY-GLA rather than falling. Didn't Loganair do GLA twice daily at one stage or does my memory fail me.
No sign yet of any City of Culture bounce.
