It'll be interesting to see how the extra rotations work out for FR on LPL in January. 56% isn't to bad for the amount of flights they provided and the fact that it was over winter.

Regarding Prestwick, Ryanair have held in there so far, so I'm not to concerned. But surely should FR ever stop that route, BE would surely step in and take over that route (well to Glasgow Intl).

CAA stats say there were 244 movements at CODA in Dec. The total from above is 246, and there was in indeterminate number of miscellaneous flights in Dec too (mainly MYAIR to Blackpool if I remember correctly), so determining exact figures is pretty difficult.

BE at LDY........hmmmmmm. Waterford is a better prospect apparently.

LPL has been increased to daily for Summer 12. Thurs flight added depart LDY 2135. Thurs is looking not too bad for the airport at the minute, can such a small departures lounge cope with 4 flights within a few hours?

It'll be neck and neck between Norwich and LDY for which airport is the busiest the relevance being that last year Norwich ranked 1 place above LDY.

My guess is that Norwich still has it and will be 28th busiest in the UK while LDY will be 29th but it's really too close to call. It depends on their December figures which haven't been released yet for that airport.

Two explosions in the city in the past 30mins. Surely this sort of craic has a depressing effect on tourists looking to come and experience our hospitality? Can't be good for forward bookings!

Amelia, you still using FR to get to your holiday palace in Alicante? Happy days!

Carn, the best thing we can all do is get on with our lives as close to normal as we can. These morons might one day take the hint that nobody wants them or their vision of a future. Hopefully, by 2013 they'll have climbed back under the rocks from where they were disgorged a few years back. Hopefully....!

Just reading posts on this thread from February 2011, god I miss the upbeatness we all had. But, since TFS was only announced in late February and MAN around the same time too, perhaps there's still time for us to get some good news.

Great to see LPL is going daily, and still believe we'll see STN double daily at some point soon.

One interesting thing to note is that Prestwick and Liverpool had higher passenger numbers last year compared with 2007 levels. So some routes have already basically recovered from the recession.

NC hang in there!

The 405k pax this year was achieved with 2,000 fewer flights than 2007/8!! Airlines MUST be seeing this and thinking of the potential. Something will happen on a positive note. It's a matter of when not if in my mind.

As an aside, just back from STN. 171 on board, and a nice mix between suits, tourists (mostly Spanish) and people going home for the weekend.

I'll hang in there then CU!

Good to hear how full the flight was and the mix of passengers, on my flight to LDY and back to BHX during xmas, there was a lot of English accents, always nice to see the routes are not just dependent on passengers from NI and ROI.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for some new route! (Don't think I'll need too for Stansted!)

Hilarious article from the Belfast Telegraph. All this time I thought I'd been using FR, I was obviously hallucinating. Lazy, shoddy journalism, or perhaps affirmation of the Belfast-centric nature of our press:

Shame on Claire McNeilly for her moronic journalism! And thanks for bringing this to my attention!

I have since vented my frustration by commenting on the article!

Ryanair pulled out of the province 14 months ago...
Mind you, it might also show how poorly Ryanair advertises their services across the rest of the province?

You only have to be on the likes of your TFS flights to hear the amount of Belfast accents so I don't think it's to do with lack of advertising, just bad journalism!

Stewart28,

I'm not sure if & when the announcement will be. I heard it from someone who has a partner works within the Airport.

The airline rumoured is Loganair. What I was thinking is would they return, I mean they have been there done that.

When Loganair ran the route is was very profitable, that would be good news if it did as Aer Arann ruined that route.

Are you expecting Loganair to run the Dublin service on a fully commerical basis without the pso subvention that was available to Aer Arann?
