July stats are out. The 168 flights that used LDY during the month saw a load factor of 96.4%. Impressive.

New Hangar - Govt funding - create jobs and tourism etc etc. Was this not the blurb for a hangar that was erected down the road at Enniskillen some 5 years ago at a massive cost to the taxpayer and has never been used?
Just a thought

justmaybe. Did you read the article? If not, I suggest you do. If you have, I suggest you read it again.

In other news. Sept pax numbers were up 15% on last year. August figures have not yet been released.

I did, but it was not my primary source of information. As I said, just a thought. Lets watch and wait.

Believe an application has been submitted for a PSO on the Derry-London route to commence when FR withdraw. Now a wait to see who wins it.

Flybe must be top bets to operate the route?

As it's guaranteed cash, I'd imagine there'd be a fair bit of interest. From what the airport have been saying it's likely to be a smaller plane on a more frequent schedule. Therefore, something akin to the current BE model at Newquay or Dundee would be my guess. Otherwise, perhaps Stobart Air in whatever guise they'll be in by next March. I'd be astonished if any of the larger carriers showed any interest.

i would say its likely to be flybe and then the airport management will offer them generous terms to start a few other routes to the likes of BHX, MAN and EDI.

Stobart have quite a significant bit more slack for next summer that they can fill up with new routes, LPL, DSA, LBA (ex Cork), EMA and CWL all cut from the network.

They'll be tied up with CityJet as well, looking for work for the SSJs. Could we see LDY-SEN as the London city pair?

The PSO invitation to tender was gazetted on 29-Oct-2016, with bidders having 61 calendar days to make a bid taking us until Thursday 29-Dec-2016. Seems like we're not going to hear anything about this until the new year.

Haven't the airport management already said the next one would be MAN?
Frankly in terms of connectivity MAN would be more useful than any of the likely LON options as well as the point to point.
LDY-MAN-HKG LDY-MAN-PEK etc etc all become possible.

COD launch another new website (was there not one a couple of years ago as well???)
More money being spent but on their Arrivals information they have a lot of Test entries for TOM (Faro & Alicante), BE (Glasgow Prestwick) & RE (Dublin & Manchester)

So the PSO deadline has now expired - anyone want to make guesses as to what bids have been submitted ?

From what limited gossip I've heard, it's Flybe and Stobart Air (EI Regional). BE intend to fill the gaps in the day with various routes (EDI, BHX, MAN and BRS). All supposition for now, but would make sense as the stipulation of the PSO was that there'd need to be a based aircraft doing an early and a late to LON.
