Ex-pats in Nigeria may have got paid on time (surprise-surprise) but I hear that JNB staff had to wait until the 3rd - first time for them late payment
We did not get paid on time. It was late, on the 3rd. We celebrate that because that's not as late as it has been, so it's a big improvement. Things are all relative.

It looks like you got paid down south the same day.... Late.

Are you still working at Arik with the late salaries?

Locals, no. Expats, no.

Expat rotations:

A340 - no Arik Air expats (obviously does not include HiFly crews)
A330 - 15/15
B737 - 30/30
CRJ - 30/30
Dash8- 30/30

Hawker?

Sorry? our understanding is that Arik made a few cabin crew redundant (which they recruited from London) a few months ago, the rest are working 10 days on in Nigeria doing the shuttles (staying in hotel) and then days off back in London........whats going on then?

A330 Fleet

Does anybody have any information on the status of the second A330?

I heard the pay is in British Pounds, can anybody give any details on the T and Cs for the A330 fleet.

Thank you

Snoop

Reference A330: This stuff changes with the wind, but the last word I got was no second A330.

Plus, they are making redundant 17 expat cabin crew from the A330.

Edit: yes, I think they are paid is in sterling, but I honestly don't know for sure.

I didn't know that there were unpaid expats. Well, we're not paid until we're all paid.

Question

Just one doubt/curiosity, cause i understood from the post above no expats on the 340 fleet»
IIRC the 340-500's are under the Portuguese HiFly-HFY AOC and also on Portuguese "CS-" Regs, so is there any Portuguese Cockpit Crew remaining and still flying, or besides all that, no expats at all on the 345?
If so, dont Nigerians nationals need a special "remark" on their licences to fly under an EU/EASA registered acft and EU-AOC regulated Aircraft?
Unless they have already JAA/EASA Lics.
Tanx & Cheers

Well, this is a thread about Arik, and its (late) paychecks. So, when I said no expats on A340, I meant no Arik Air expat employees.

The two Arik Air employees that are currently on the A340 are both from Naija. There are no Arik Air expats.

How many pilots, and of what nationality, HiFly operates, I have no idea. I do know that some of those HiFly pilots are actually former cabin crew who were picked for a pilot job, from near zero total time as FO's. Arik pays a lot of money for that "experience".

Two Naija pilots are going to the A330, which will be the first non-expats on that plane. (B737 CA / CP, and the most senior CRJ FO)

Angel Dana the next Nigerian Prodigy?

Captains Dana Air

Posted by Bursa Loker

OPPORTUNITIES FOR HIGHFLYERS

DANAAIR, Nigeria’s newest airline, is looking for dedicated and committed individuals to join us in Lagos, Nigeria.

If you like the idea of being part of a small, friendly team of people at the start of an exciting new venture, this is the time to act. You will benefit from:

* Competitive salary package.
* Excellent standards of Training
* A highly organised and supportive environment
* Great opportunities for career advancement
With Ndubz "I know more than Boeing" Ek...pu and Vic... Ego at the helm I can imagine exactly how that new and enticing opportunity will work:-

Competitive Salary Package = competitive with hotel waiters

Excellent standards of training = Items such as how to use a mobile phone whilst taxying and how to cover up drugs smuggling by my mates.

A highly organised & supported environment = They can buy an excellent system that a monkey could use and then not use it other than to make the system more disorganized that it could possibly ever have been if it was just left to Bernard to do. At the same time they will support you by making your personal load lighter by taking the shirt of your back.

Great opportunities for career advancement = A chance to kiss other parts of the body other than their royal behinds in order to be promoted from nobody to dogsbody and possibly to Vic & Ndubz personal footrest.

I love what these firms think when they hire guys who cannot make an airline work when they have the resources of the whole government at their disposal. What do they think will happen with these clowns at the helm with limited resources and old knackered MD-83s who aren't maintained by Lufthansa.

For all the poor people who have to go and work for these guys, good luck, you are going to need it. If you have a B737 rating and feel that you may want to go to Dana or Arik please PM so I can give you details of the numerous opportunities out there that will not involve working with these incompetent men and may even save you from the inevitable which will result from doing so.

Going to Dana after having been at Arik would be like going from the pan into the fire.
Lots of people have bailed out of Dana this year alone .

I'm going to guess that you didn't know about this thread before you signed up for Arik?

Good luck. I'm not sure why they pay some people and not others. This is another one of the many ongoing pay problems at Arik. It has gotten better than it has been for the past 6 months, but I doubt it will ever be like what you expect back in your home country.

I hope you're able to find a job that you enjoy.

Re:Assessment

So who went to the interviews in the last weeks at Gatwick...?? I did they were both bloody nice bloke actualey...I think they are a good Airline to work for..

Its a nice place lagos nice weather...I go there for my honeymoon, really enjoy, people were frendly and helpful..Every where you can use credit card so dont have to take lot of cash..The mobile phone can be a nite mare though! Lot of sick people there as I loaned a lot of the locals lads monies as they had someone sick in there family, its nothing dodgey as they give me there private mobile number but when I ring they never work

So be warned mobiles dont always work be warned!!!! Because of this cant contact these poor sods and get my money back...

Also I put deposit $3000 on a car really cheap it was more cheap than Europe $8000 instead of $17000 (UK Price)..so had to buy...They ship the car to you he says but think theres problem with documents as been waiting 7 years now...Its bloody customs here they hate when you buy cheaper are bring it here as its bad for sales here...greedy sod..
