Captain salary: £67k
FO salary: £43k Senior FO salary £46k The above is full time. There is sector pay which varies depending on length of sector and duty pay at £2.10/duty hour. It adds up to about 200 - 700 per month. All taxable except some of the duty pay. No annual pay increments. General pay rises at the discretion of the company. Note that there is an incremental payscale but only those pilots who were with the company more than about 5 years ago are on it. I believe some pilots have lost their increments upon promotion. There is no typical roster because it's a bit of a do it all airline (loco seat only, package holidays, ad hoc charters, royal mail etc). Rosters are assigned with little input from pilots. As you might guess, expect max hours with few/no standbys in summer. For routes check out the website. We're told there is a 737-800 for MAN starting in Feb, with a 2nd joining soon!? As far as I know the 757s are here to stay typically doing the longer trips. PS: I am told there is no longer a SFO salary so ignore the £46k - sorry. |
Contact
Can anyone please PM me contact details for JET2 HR. I have been trying through Bond but its a let down.
An email or Phone number would do wonders. Regards |
Phone number is on PPJN website under Jet2

I have been trying through Bond but its a let down. |
No, they are or were recruiting directly. Zenon are being used to help fill places on a summer only contract basis.
73 |
So if I had a call from someone in Jet2, it will not be for 'just' a seasonal contract then?
|
MD11Man, it's still likely to be an offer of 70%, bond for conversion or pay for training, if it's a 70% contract the price is for 70% of what OAA charge for the course.
|
Right. So if I am 737 type rated, I'd have to pay some start training fee, yes?
Wondering what kind of money we're talking then... |
If 737 type rated you will probably only have to sign a bond of £5k or so for line training over a couple of years.
Regards |
for what its worth i think there is a large variation of contracts being offered at J2, if you are ex military or ex legacy (ish) airline direct entry capt then bonds have been offered instead of type ratings etc, on the other end of the scale if you are a 200 hr cadet then you are fleeced to pay for a type rating, JOC course, 70% contract etc. Anything in between is variable depending on the desperation of the company!

Any tech questions during the interview?
|
No tech within the interview but a short written paper that includes a selection of ATPL knowledge questions.
|
Ah. How hard are they?
|
Damn,
You guys are getting screwed on pay and T&C's. Hope BALPA can sort that out for you over the next few years. £64K for captains! I took home £90k as an F/O last year. |
Yeah but we don't have anywhere like the day off payments you lot get BlueBaron, and I understand there were a lot of flexis flying around last year due to a large reduction in pilot numbers :ugh:
Still not sure how you managed to take home £90k though, you must be very senior. When I worked for your lot as a year 4 FO, my gross pay was about £55k. You're right about Balpa, I really hope they can get to work on the t's and c's at Jet2, otherwise the flood of resignations is going to get even worse. |
ok £87k sorry was a bit generious just worked it out. I did 650 hours. did a lot of tax free due to detachments.
|
Scooby,
Don't worry too much about lack of detail - the 757 is designed on the dark cockpit principle, i.e if something goes wrong something lights up. Gone are the days of learning volts/amps etc etc. The CBT is adequate for purpose. If you want more detail I believe the front toilet water heater cuts out at 88 degrees C ! Enjoy the course, it's (still) a great aircraft. If you want any info on it PM me (757 since 2003) |
Bluebaron
Even on the top FO salary scale, and with detatachments as you state i cannot possibly see how you can say you "TOOK HOME" 87k If there are FO's in our company on money like that no wonder JM like he is now How many years are you with the company? good luck if you are getting it but for how much longer....... bf |
That is gross about £55k net. Was comparing (see above) next to the 64K which I also assumed was net?
|
So it's not TAKE HOME then is it!!!!! :D A little over exaggeration/posturing!
I think we are all in agreement that their conditions are bad. The thing I find most amusing is that they thought they could get away with the 70% offer business. I know of at least 5 guys who have rejected/withdrawn from their offer due to better job offers elsewhere. Where as at first they said they only had a limited number of 100% available and they were going to be offered to the best candidates they are now handing them out to try and claw back people. I don't really blame them they are after all a business and as such have margins but they have not seemingly caught on to the fact that it will take more than 100% to attract people. I.E. a better basic salary with increments maybe. It would appear that most of the 70% contracts seem to have been given to the NON TR'd people which is a double blow for them with their TR cost as well. I do believe they are a good company but there has to come a time when these T&C'S are improved. Bluebaron does have a point on the salary though. Their Capt salary is very poor and many of us as FO's in other companies are earning as much if not more. I hope J2 sort this out and recognise that crew are a necessary expense on their books and not just an annoying overpaid outgoing they can squeeze. They would be a great company to join with better T&C's. |

Jet 2 just posted they are hiring cpt's and f/o's on pcc.on their pilot hiring webpage they have various openings one of which is service pilot(non t/r f/o) what is that? non t/r= non type rated f/o= first officer If that is the candidates background then clicking on the link will take them to the appropriate web page application form. |

thanks for the help :O |
Are they still recruiting? Where do I send my CV? Can I choose my BAse?:O
|
JP
1. Go to the Jet2.com web site. 2. go to the bottom of the page and single left click on careers. 3. Top left of page left click on pilot recruitment. 4 select which category you fit in and continue from there. I will say though though that as you haven't had the initiative to do these very basic steps for yourself are you sure you can take responsibility for 150-230 pax. You can specify a base preference, whether you get it depends on how much they want you and what your qualifications are. All the best |
Are Jet2 taking non rated DEC on the 757?
I'm rated on the 737 but would prefer a change in type. So does one apply for DEC 737 or Non rated CP? |
Capt or F/O?
I'd give them a ring. the number is on PPJN. Ask for the pilot manager. regards |
Just curious about a Captain position. Thanks for the heads up re PPJN.
|
Still happy to change type, but probably not with Jet2. :} I can live with a bond, but one can't afford to shell out that sort of cash everytime for a new job.
|
Your more likely to get offered 737. There are still plenty of FO's that haven't left the airline that are approaching the required command time for the 757 and have been in the company for a long time.
|
I see another large advert in this week's 'Flight' for general recruitment ie type rated and non-type rated, Captains and FOs. At the same time there are the various contract ads running in the usual places
Like many others who applied very early in last August's recruitment drive and possibly fell foul of the then strict 'no pay for type rating - go'd like my application reconsidered.odbye/want a full time contract - goodbye' policy that appeared to be in force, I'd quite like my application to be reconsidered given that the company became a little more flexible in its approach to later comers. Can anyone at Jet 2 say what the curent state of play is. Thanks. |
I had a call from Zenon the other day wondering if I was interested in a very short notice start date (9 days time). It was for Jet2 on a 6 month contract.
I declined. |
I was contacted by Jet2 last October, and was given a conditional invite to interview; the condition being that I was prepared to pay £25K to be put on a 70% contract. I politely declined.
Recently I have accepted a job offer from another company - I will have to pay nothing for the type rating, I am paid from day 1, and I will be on a full time contract with far better T&Cs. Some say - the early bird catches the worm. I think in this situation the early worms have been caught by the bird. |
Coiledstring,
Where did you go? |
CS -
I am in the same boat. I was asked to pay 14k + vat for a 29k salary (and a bit of flight pay). I managed to get a great salary and package deal somewhere else, for a company that are fully behind their crews. It is more like chess, never making a move too soon. |
After the farce with the online application system, I applied through zenon and never heard anything. I'm guessing that was a blessing in disguise by the sounds of it even if I am desperate to
Get out of the current shambles. Cheers |
Jinkster - got a job with a well known freight company.
Anyway, I'd rather take my chance transporting toner cartridges, than transporting the great tracksuit clad, drunken and unwashed. ;) |
Nick
I understand Zenon are still looking for guys and that if Jet2 is the place for you then there are opportunities to go permanent at the end of the contract. That said, be prepared for being self-employed through a third party umbrella company and T's & C's that are 'woolly' at best. And if you want out early for a better deal elsewhere, there are undisclosed training fees whether you are rated on type and may only need OPC and a few Line Training sectors or not |
Jet2 have paid for TRs
About 35 TRs paid for by the airline and around 140 pilots recruited 2010/11.
So if your the type they want they will pay for TR. |
