Wasn't mentioned to me, but maybe the loyalty bonus takes care of that issue. It's only a 6 month contract after all.

J2 Recruitment
Submarine Dog
2 accquaintances of mine just got accepted and neither of them were rated. Both had ATPLs with about 1500hrs total (TP). Another friend and colleague with the same experience never even got a phone interview!! :ugh: Alph |
Firestorm,
Thank you for the reply - I think your remark about the loyalty bonus covers the bond issue. |
Hey JJ145
when and why were you asked to do the online assessment? as i haven't heard anyone else on here doing these! have you already been to the J2 assessment days? cheers lookingup |
I was asked to do the online assessment once I'd been invited down to Leeds. Some of the guys who attended at short notice were asked to complete them after the interview day.
Just had a call. It's a no for me, apply next July if still interested. (9500TT, 4500 on type). |
Hi lookinup.
I attended the assessment day last week in Leeds. I was asked to complete the tests a week later. I understand others have been asked to complete them recently also. Can't tell you much more than that really. I understand that they started by recruiting cadets some time ago, followed by non type rated pilots. Finally (more recently) they have moved on to recruit type rated Pilots. I believe the last two groups were further subdivided and recruited as experienced and not so experienced types. Now obviously there is a strategy / plan afoot here (demographics) to best serve the company in both the short and long term. I don't have any inside knowledge, it's just common sense. Mr Meeson hasn't got where he is today by resting on his laurels, he is obviously a sharp individual. Why some people are chosen over others......? There will always be an element of luck in addition to all other considerations. Just my tuppence worth. |
Ah haaaaaaaaaaaaa!
|
Liability
...unless the tests are used as a filter before interview, there are those that might suggest they are used to limit the company liability should a candidate be employed and later down the road turn out to be a 'particularly unsavoury character'
Agree with the others, if they like you and you're a good fit then I guess the tests are 'filed'.....just in case. |
Unsavoury??

Jethros fleet listings has jet2 as getting 2 more 757's where will these come from.:)
|
Has anyone heard a yes/no from Jet2 from the type rated selection almost 2 weeks ago yet???
|
Try 4 weeks here.
This is very poor and my faith in this being a good company to work for is not being backed up. |

I called them to see if I was successful. I was told that I have been put on a reserve list. Not sure if this is a hold pool or a stalling tactic. Either way at least it is not a pfo.......yet.
Mint 757 tr |
me too
lhs ntr lots of hours |
Got a call today. I've been put on the reserve list aswell.
non tr LHS TP 4200hrs |
So i've heard a mate of mine was offered 70 %, said no. A week later gets offered 100 %.How odd .
|
"How odd" ? Not really.
Simple economics forces are at work in the market place. J2 think that the fish will bite in sufficient numbers with a 70% contract; so why pay more than you have to? 70% is not producing the numbers required, so the beancounters approve 100% for those niches which need it. But which fleet? And, what extra qualifications might they be looking for? People still leaving for the sandpit, including those ready for command.:oh: |
Sorry,
my 'how odd' was supposed to sound a little bit ironic, with a side salad of sarcasm. |
BOGOF
There are more than economics at work. I have a colleague who had signed a 70% contract with J2 and they have now offered, 1 month after initial offer, a 100% contract!
Maybe they are also testing the water to see who is serious about joining them!! Just a thought. :ok: |
Has anyone actually had a NO phone call or PFO - specifically from the NON TR interviews in OCT, or after their subsequent sim rides?
I keep phoning HR, to be put through to an ever ringing phone.:ugh: Just trying to work out if not receiving a NO is a good thing, or if I should just move on and forget about them. Funny because in the interview they were quite believable when they said they cared about their people and would phone everyone whatever the outcome  |
I wouldn't dismiss them yet. I believe they are sincere when they said they will call either way but I think they are busy finalising numbers, basing requirements and I also suspect they are being messed about by people not signing the contracts on offer and those that have accepted but may not actually start due to upcoming interviews with BA or other companies.
At a guess the lack of the NO or PFO letters/e-mails maybe an indication of their worry that many will jump ship or not start if they are offered BA/Emirates etc. It is frustrating but hang in there. Their courses are running all through the winter. Everyone I have spoken to has been very helpful and pleasant. P.S. justanotherstat I would always keep looking and applying to others until you have a contract in hand! You have to look out for yourself. Good Luck |

If I were you, I would stop repeatedly phoning HR asking them for deatils. Just serves to piss the good folks at HR right off. Probably the reason they don~t pick the phone up anyway. If you read most employer~s advertisments carefully, there is an instruction NOT to enter into unsolicited phone calls, emails or correspondence regarding your application. Be patient man and stop acting like a spoiled brat  |
"spoiled brat " ?????
anxious applicant maybe, and in the current climate, who blames him/her ?? Gees, some people are really quick to insult. Not good CRM ! |
anxious applicant Not good CRM ! You got to be patient in this game, just stating that HR departments will be inundated with applications and constant haranging with spurious phone calls will do your application no good at all. Hang loose man, take it easy and let the Mountain come to Mohammad. |
Genius my arse - that is their job.
I too have called them and got the brush off. I think that if you have been through their selection and sim, having spent out on 1 hotel and driven hundreds of miles, you deserve the courtesy of a bloody email. This is pi## poor and if we behaved like this, I would expect tea and bickies the next day. |
MichaelOLearyGenius
Who are you to call me a spoiled brat? I'm an experienced pilot who believes he deserves a bit of respect as such. Why is a Ryanair regular passenger even on this forum?
For your information, the ladies at HR have been very nice to talk to, taking messages and encouraging me to phone back, as the recruitment team seem to be on neverending coffee breaks (Sarcasm). I quote you: Pop down to your local flying club and talk to one of the instructors. Within a month you will have a PPL costing about £2k. Immediately start your hour building and night rating while studying the ATPL theory, £6k should see you through that and take about a month. Next is the hard bit but I found it quite easy the CPL, multi IR. Costs about £5k and another 2 weeks total should do it, then straight into the MCC (£500+ 3days). Blue book in hand you now do the type rating (paid for by the company, 10days) followed by the line training and 6 landings (4 days), then its off to head office for the uniform and away you go. All in all if you really want to fly a jet it's about £12k and 3months. Now what is difficlt about that? As I say don't listen to all these doom and gloom mongers, they just don't know what they are talking about. (And P.S. don't forget the huge salary and all the paid holidays you get). For your information I am a CRMI, so if you would really like a discussion about it I'd be happy to oblige:D |
OMG that is so funny. I knew the name had a hidden meaning.
Let me check.....yes there is a wet patch and a popped rib! :} Go back to your Flight Sim - Genius - and leave the Professional forums to the Professionals. |
Was on the reserve list
PFO'ed this morning.... :ugh: Good luck to the rest of you mint 757 Type Rated. |
You clearly have no idea about this industry |
PFO on both cheaks. Never mind; with the upturn just starting, it won't be long.
Good luck those still waiting. |
INterview next week with Jet Two, arranged through Zenon Aero for a summer only contract. Any other takers?
|
Good luck Firestorm!
Is the interview via Zenon for the LHS or RHS? |
Right side Shaman. Thanks!
|
Well, I have applied for a LHS position via Zenon but no response yet; perhaps all the LHS pots have been filled!
|
Ignore PAPI 74
They'll look at anybody who fits their criteria. I know they've offered some jobs to experienced, type rated B757 people, 1 of each seat as I know both of them. Good luck & keep plugging away. :ok: |
Jet2 application
Hi,
I have applied but have not heard anything beside confirmation email.I have over 1000hrs TT with FI time on SE a/c.Is there any hope with my application? Regards, cessna310. |
Cessna310,
I'm sorry to say probably not. I believe that all the inexperienced non-type rated guys have been recruited for this year. Jet2 only took on 12 guys and girls from this group from many hundreds of applications. I believe that they all had been on a JOC. Although a JOC is a bit of a waste of money as everything in it is covered by a TR course its possession, or not, by applicants was used to 'thin the field' from the hundreds of applications. Regards |
JOC courses
binsleepen
I am not entirely convinced that JOC courses are "a bit of waste of money". True, you do cover, in generic terms, many items that are covered in a type rating course; and, they exceed what is required by the mandatory MCC course for multi-pilot applications. What is so important is that they provide a valuable process to see just what a junior bird man / women is capable of doing over 40+ hours in the box. You demonstrate your "learning curve"; how well you climb the mountain. Unlike the MCC, this is not an attendance course; this is a pass / fail course. Any prospective employer would be interested in reading the training reports. The correlation between the outcome of the JOC and the type rating is high, which, more than likely, explains why J2 values their importance in deciding who, with little or no experience, is worth investing in? |
Did you hear anybody fail a JOC, or a MCC course for that matter? No, so it is a question of money. More and more money to be paid by the pilot, in lieu of the prospective company. In the long run, pilots will pay up to the position of Captain. Anything else will be self funded.
