Artic Monkey 15th Feb 2013 22:02

Yes RexBanner, I am one of those Flybe monkeys. Like you I missed the cut-off last time due work and the short window, but it won't stop me applying should they open it again.

Superpilot 15th Feb 2013 23:39

Thanks again mesh. One hundred FOs starting April tells me this number is more to address 2014 recruitment plans as to get a FO that interviews in April to be able to leave his job, join, train and then be released will take him/her towards the end of Summer, no?

Once again good news and here's hoping they call the hold-poolers in first.

mesh 16th Feb 2013 09:20

Not quite, we will start to interview again in April the products of which will start late this year early next. this will be to finally crew us up to the ever increasing number of aircraft that we are getting. As far as hold pools and the like we will run this like every airline business. We will split the intakes into thirds as before, 3rd type rated, 3rd non, 3rd CTC. This is to spread experience levels. Of the two thirds non CTC we will take the best which will mean that if you are the best and you come to us in April for first interview you will get a position in front of someone who is currently in the hold for interview but scores lower than you when it comes to the interview. If you have been offered a position but no start date then you will join when a relative course starts. Flybe and Easyjet guys will not push the others out. The make up of the non type rated course will remain as is, some turbo some military. When it comes to the type rated you will stand the same chance coming from Easy as you will coming from most airlines. Easy just happens to be an airline whose product seems to be well trained and a safe bet. In the end and as you see with a lot of interviews you can only do your best. The Market, the interviewers and the needs of the company will ultimately govern whether you get the job and you can't change these so don't worry about it, just try your hardest. Having been to Luton recently I have to say though the company is buzzing again it's great. A lot of new good guys and girls joining us and a great place to be....

MESH

Thanks for the update. Re-assuring news for all concerned!

hobnobanyone 16th Feb 2013 22:09

Mesh - thank you very much for your insight. Feeling a little bit reassured about it at the moment. Although the rollercoaster of emotions in the last few weeks has been incredibly unsettling - it's very reassuring that this recruitment drive looks like it might go ahead - and equally how the process is undertaken.

Another flybe pilot here - here's to the lot of us getting ourselves sorted out soon.

It's been a miserable month or so.

spottyemm 16th Feb 2013 22:40

I understand it is likely to be nearer 60 recruits needed for winter 13/14 with the first course starting in September. Obviously this number may rise a little if a few of our more 'mature' pilots decide that they can't face the increasing tax burden and retire or go part time.
Although our interview is incredibly relaxed a personal recommendation from someone within the company still goes a very long way to securing that invite to interview. That said many of this years recruits had no previous links with the company at all.

I have no information as to when applications might open but April/May certainly looks a decent bet.

Good Luck all.

Superpilot 17th Feb 2013 02:32

Thanks guys. Don't suppose any of you know how many candidates are currently marked "Hold / Hold for interview" within the database? or perhaps an educated guess?

(Sorry if I'm annoying you with all these questions :ooh:)

101325 17th Feb 2013 09:57

Given the multitude of applicants that applied during the last recruitment phase and that currently find themselves 'on hold for interview' will monarch actually open their application again? Or simply hold interviews off the pool of applications that are currently awaiting interview?

Seems we are all a little confused on this matter? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

It is however reassuring to find that at least one carrier remains to save the day for those of us who have worked hard and struggled against the deluge of those willing and able to pay for everything.

Best of luck to all come march/april and those within flybe, thoughts are with you all.

CEJM 17th Feb 2013 13:59

I would expect the company to first interview the pilots who got their applications in last year. However some of the pilots who applied last year might no longer be interested now easyJet offered some permanent contract to the flexicrew.

Very difficult to say what will happen. I have heard a different figure then the one mentioned by Spottyemm. But as we all now, in aviation it is all rumour till it actually happens. What the management decide today can change tomorrow etc.

Best of luck to you all. :ok:

mesh 18th Feb 2013 08:59

It's difficult to second guess how some on the top floor will decide who gets the nod but they do have history of being fair. I would suppose( and as usual just my opinion) if they have guys who have been offered a position they will honour those if a related course comes up, having said that there seems to be confusion between hold pool for interview, job offered. I don't think there are many people with a job offer and no start date. The basic fact is if we open the interview door again then we are going to interview and there is the possibility of a job. We will as always take the most suitable candidate. Monarch are not like BA, we do not have the man power to see thousands of candidates just in case. When interviewed you are not seen by HR and a recruitment pilot, you are usually interviewed by two senior management pilots. This means we are more targeted with our interviewing and we will not have a big bunch of Flybe guys with job offers waiting to gobble up the next course. The only guys that have a job offer will be a case of us miss calculating a course number at the last minute. If I had a couple of thousand hours and relative aircraft type I would forget about who's had an interview how many of the next jobs are gone etc and just concentrate on getting my arse into Luton in front of these two and securing the job

mesh 18th Feb 2013 09:09

Just another thought as Flybe seems to be mentioned a lot. I have had the fortune to meet some of the courses coming through. The first non type course I met consisted of 1 fast jet ex RAF, 1 heavy transport ex RAF, 2 Flybe, 2 Cityjet, 1 Bmi Baby,1 Eastern, 1 Ryanair. The next non type rated, 1 Flybe(ex RAF), 1 Sentinal(RAF), 4 BMI Baby. Type rated were largely Easy Flexi. Age wise and I hope the guys don,t mind me saying this but on the current course we have some guys around their 50's. All I'm trying to say Is if you are not Flybe and fly a turboprop or if you are business jet etc you stand an equal chance.

SEAMASTER 18th Feb 2013 09:52

Just to add to this I know of two guys who passed interview selection a few years back, then got placed into the hold pool and never got asked out of it and still don't have a job with us. That tells me more suitable candidates were interviewed at a later date, it happened to me with TC in 2004, it's just the way it is in this game !! The moral is nothing is done until its done, if they want you, you will be offered a position, if they don't you won't ! simple !

Phenom100 18th Feb 2013 11:20

Mesh,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for keeping us ALL updated on the recruitment situation over the last few month's. It's been extremely valuable to us all. Thank you. :D

For once i can say PPRUNE has been useful, which is a pleasant and welcomed change from the usual moaning, bitching which seems to be rife here on PPRUNE.

go around flaps15 18th Feb 2013 11:27

I second that! Thank you very much Mesh.

What Now 18th Feb 2013 12:53

Thanks Mesh jolly helpful. I look forward to the opportunity to fly with you guys some time.

alpha.charlie 7th Mar 2013 13:40

"interviews in the next couple of months ready for courses beginning in September. Actually the first course in September will be cadet entry pilots currently under training. The following months will see courses for type rated and non-typed rated pilots to support the ongoing airline expansion requirements and the retirement of some current airframes"

Good luck all :ok:

cgwhitemonk11 7th Mar 2013 15:56

Applying?

Just wondering will there be any opportunity for those with CV's on file to actually apply this year? I was too late registering last time so the job links were gone by then unfortunately.

nomad_07 7th Mar 2013 16:00

Does anyone know how many non-type rated pilots may be taken on? The updates by email are so refreshing compared to other companies who give no update! Hopefully there will be another one soon judging by above post :)

mesh 7th Mar 2013 17:13

I believe we will open the doors again to new applications. Roughly a third recruited will be non rated.

McBruce 7th Mar 2013 18:08

Any idea how many applications are on hold? are these on hold for interview or an additional screening process?

Superpilot 8th Mar 2013 01:56

alpha.charlie, what's up with the quotes? Did I miss an email update or something? :ooh:

Who-are-we-kidding 8th Mar 2013 14:53

How often are people getting updates? I got the original e-mail saying I had 'passed stage 1 of recruitment' in early January but haven't heard anything since! Is this new info being e-mailed round or is it rumours from employees of Monarch? This job has not been off my mind since January!

Direct DIKRO 8th Mar 2013 15:10

I'm a bit confused as to what the actual status signifies?

In August last year I received a message saying I'd passed stage one and ever since my application has been on hold?

I did get an email in December giving a quick update, but nothing since?

Hopefully they'll provide clarification soon?

alpha.charlie 11th Mar 2013 12:02

sorry, it was a quote from an internal communication.

Cougarpilot 11th Mar 2013 18:16

Anyone have an idea when interviews will commence again?

Crosswind Limits 11th Mar 2013 19:26

I believe it may be this month or next. I certainly hope so!

Superpilot 15th Mar 2013 04:29

Any meeting minutes to share with us yet mesh? :ok:

Honiley 15th Mar 2013 11:40

"Superpilot" - Dear god - chill, relax and be patient! If the hardworking folk in Luton want to see you, they'll be in touch!

mesh 17th Mar 2013 08:42

No news yet, I think end of the month interviews will start again

twogoodstarts 17th Mar 2013 11:09

Hi Mesh, Do you know if MON will be taking on any 757 rated guys this time, even though they are on their way out in 2014.

Deano777 17th Mar 2013 11:13

Mesh

Is that interviews for pilots who applied last time or a fresh opening of the online system?

Thanks

frozenpilot 17th Mar 2013 18:28

The have taken 2 cadets on the 757 this winter! The fleet is expected to be retired after next summer. There are some senior f/o's on the fleet, so if there are commands this winter a few of the 757 guys may have to move onto the bus fleet for upgrade.

mesh 17th Mar 2013 19:39

I would think on line will open again and then we will call some old and some new applications forward. On the other point the 300 is the fleet that will suffer if we get 30 odd new commands. Around half of those will come from the 300 and we wont train new guys onto the fleet so I wouldn't be surprised if the fleet didn't close this winter.

flyer19832007 27th Mar 2013 20:58

Easy opening up.....Jet 2 hunting for 73 drivers....now we just wait for our friends at Monarch to follow suit..... haha

What Now 28th Mar 2013 04:32

Flyer19832007 don't tease me like that, I'm on a a hair trigger here.

vrb03kt 2nd Apr 2013 17:49

Guess it didn't happen in March then! A lot of us still on the edge of our seats, any ideas when this might open?

mesh 2nd Apr 2013 17:56

we are currently awaiting a fleet announcement guys which is taking longer than usual. Should be in next couple of weeks. After this the next FTE and recruitment will start. I have heard though it could be September but we will see. As you can imagine the amount of training that is going on is horrendous and I believe the powers that be are trying to work out how and when we will be able to fit another batch in. i know you want to hear before Sept so fingers crossed, its very hard to put deffinitive dates on this suck and see exercise

vrb03kt 2nd Apr 2013 18:59

Thank you for the update mesh, I (and probably many many others) look forward to the opportunity!

Pork chop express 2nd Apr 2013 19:16

I was recently in the sim with a senior trainer and future recruitment came up! They mentioned a further possible 40-60 this year depending on if the A300's go and further fleet expansion. As Mesh says the time frames spoken about were starts in Sept / Oct on wards with the same split as last year 1/3 CTC, 1/3 TR and 1/3 Non-TR.
Best of luck to all those waiting. :ok:

prisoner24601 2nd Apr 2013 21:06

Any ideas if they will recruit again for none swimmers?

Thanks.
