I too love a good rumour. Anyway, joking aside, what is the future of LH at Monarch? I hope it's positive??

mesh 22nd Oct 2012 21:23

The last we heard of LH was from the MD at our last pilot management meeting and as I have stated, at present we have no plans for future long haul. Monarch will be a SH schedule airline and as the 300 and 757's go by 2014 we will be growing our SH fleet. It is widely known that the senior guys have stated we need around 6 decent LH aircraft to run a profitable LH business and after many years trying this has just not happened. Fact. We do however have another run of pilot management meetings before Christmas but I will be amazed if the head shed suddenly states we have found these aircraft and LH here we come. If any Monarch guys read this the same way or would like to correct me then
Lease do, I don't want to give over duff info...over to you

Egon Maybach 23rd Oct 2012 15:46

...and do WHAT with them exactly?

mesh 23rd Oct 2012 19:27

Wont say any more about Monarch not continuing with long haul but just to answer the last question, Monarch dual fleet so if we got rid of the 330's our FTE will not change.

MANTHRUST 23rd Oct 2012 19:32

All 330 crews are MFF, the recruitment is for an overall increase in fleet size.
Senior FO's from the 330 who are getting their commands this year are being replaced by more junior FO's who will have to commit to 2 years MFF before being eligible for command training on the 320/1. This is causing a few problems for some of them, but it's not such a bad problem to have to resolve in the present climate.
Make of this news what you will :-)

Dave Clarke Fife 25th Oct 2012 11:51

Overheard rumour around the bazaars that a Monarch A330 was seen in Freetown (FNA) Sierra Leone. True, false, who cares?? bmi route until this Saturday and then BA.

MANTHRUST 25th Oct 2012 21:28

A British Monarch Captain was in Freetown recently but is now back in the UK.
The rumoured sighting of a Monarch 330 are just that!
Don't expect to see Monarch aircraft there too often in the future.
But ya never know.

Crosswind Limits 1st Nov 2012 17:44

Anyone on "hold" called forward for interview yet?

woolyalan 2nd Nov 2012 15:12

Nope, I'll be surprised if I hear anything before the New Year

MrHorgy 2nd Nov 2012 15:22

I was told April (?!?) by HR!

Blighty Pilot 2nd Nov 2012 18:29

Start dates for full-time pilots in W12-13 are as follows:

24 Sep 12 - 10 pilots (A320 rated)
22 Oct 12 - 10 pilots (non-rated)
01 Nov 12 - 21 pilots (A320 rated ex-CTC cadets who have been with us over the summer)
12 Nov 12 - 9 pilots (non-rated)
07 Jan 13 - 10 pilots (A320 rated)
07 Jan 13 - 4 pilots (B757 rated)
11 Feb 13 - 9 pilots (non-rated)
11 Mar 13 - 10 pilots (non-rated)
07 Apr 13 - 10 pilots (A320 rated)

There will additionally be 3 courses of cadets of 10, 8 and 6 pilots in early 2013, the last of which will be the 6 MPL cadets of which more details are here:

News - CTC Aviation.

This is a total of 96 new pilots plus 21 ex-CTC kept on from S12.

This will bring our total pilots to 512 after pilots currently working notice have left us.

hobnobanyone 7th Nov 2012 09:16

So... this is a brave assumption to make, but looking around, there's a few guys from the Thomson interview pool who are saying they've been offered jobs with another UK operator - and Monarch are about the only one at the moment who have offered anything recently? ... Could it possibly be that things are still moving on this a little bit?

I did hear a rumour of a few guys from the holdpool getting the nudge for an April start too?

Anyone know anything more than idle speculation?

RHINO 7th Nov 2012 14:25

Common sense would say not all of that list will pitch up. You have answered your own question!

McBruce 7th Nov 2012 15:14

The guys in the TOM thread could be referring to EK. As I understand there's movement again and start dates being offered.

go around flaps15 7th Nov 2012 20:47

That checks. Couple of guys I Know in FR have been plucked from the EK pool in the last week

Phenom100 3rd Dec 2012 11:19

Any more news about interview dates......

Superpilot 3rd Dec 2012 13:14

Every time there's an update to this post, my heart races! :p

I recently had some correspondence with a lady from HR, the outlook seemed positive but no further details on dates at this stage.

PPRuNeUser0165 3rd Dec 2012 14:10

Monarch Anyone?

Did she contact you, or you contact her??

1000ft Cruiser 3rd Dec 2012 14:39

Supposedly all training courses are filled up until April. Assuming there are more possitions from May onwards and many of the people interviewed would have to give 3 months notice, that would mean interviews around January, so you would think people would start hearing things soon.

That's just me being optimistic, not based on any new knowledge.

flieng 3rd Dec 2012 15:27

Monarch

That's what i,d have thought as well!

hobnobanyone 4th Dec 2012 11:54

A little spider I know fed a rumour of February.

Only speculation though!!

mesh 5th Dec 2012 13:29

Pilot Management meeting next week guys so I will try and give an update or idea of the future if I hear anything.

Phenom100 5th Dec 2012 14:02

Thank you Mesh, much appreciated.

hobnobanyone 5th Dec 2012 17:00

Mesh - thank you very much again for keeping your ear on the ground for us on here.

1000ft Cruiser 11th Dec 2012 10:01

Just had an email. No more recruitment until summer at least. :ugh:

woolyalan 11th Dec 2012 10:03

Just got an email from HR, recruitment has finished for the 2012/2013 season, which I thought was kinda obvious anyway, and that details will be put on hold for POSSIBLE summer 2013 interviews.
Do not expect to hear anything until at least early 2013, after they've confirmed projection for future recruitment.

It's what I was expecting anyway, and I think it's really good of them to let us know :ok:

No_AP_no_AT_no_FD 11th Dec 2012 10:24

Same Email here, very nice of them to keep us updated.

Superpilot 11th Dec 2012 10:28

Same here. Anyone get a different response? (i.e. yes come along for an interview or PFO). It would be interesting to know if a couple more have trickled through since the initial round.

Phenom100 11th Dec 2012 10:40

Nothing Yet...

mesh 11th Dec 2012 11:05

As previously posted we are sorted upto April ish. The only interviews that have happened over the last month are very short notice to fill last minute space. Just as an example, lets say we have a 757 type rated course going through in January and we have some guys ringing up and saying thanks for the place but I would now like to stay at TC now as I believe I will not be made redundant or for some other reason we now haveto interview and get hold of 757 rated pilots quickly, with less than 3 months notice. Nice if you are a rated 757 pilot with 0 notice period.....This is the only interviewing going on at the moment and it is very limited. To the majority of you guys its still a waiting game, nothing has changed so don't worry. As I said (purely my opinion) we will get Christmas over with, get the majority of the new guys through, see who turns up for their course, who fails it, how many aircraft we can get hold of, who passes their command course, who fails it and then get a clearer picture of our FTE. Then we will start to interview again which I think will from April be pretty even throughout the year.

1000ft Cruiser 11th Dec 2012 11:05

Doubt there will be any PFO or interviews (appart from maybe a couple to fill drop outs). I'm assuming you're all 'hold for interview' like I am. I can't see how they'd be differentiating between candidates they thought were all suitable for an interview, without actually interviewing them. Makes sense from MONs p.o.v. just to keep everyone in the hold pool, it's not costing them anything.

Now watch someone turn up and say, "Woot, just been given the job after a 5 minute phone interview" and make me look a complete prat. :hmm:

1000ft Cruiser 11th Dec 2012 11:07

Cheers mesh, much appreciated.

Phenom100 11th Dec 2012 11:14

Thank you once again mesh for keeping us ALL in the loop.

Crosswind Limits 11th Dec 2012 13:09

Same response here - on hold! Kind of expected that anyway!

hobnobanyone 11th Dec 2012 13:09

Yep - got the email through too - although my heart did give a little flutter when I saw it - but yep, much of a muchness and pretty much what we thought too.

But I'm still keeping everything crossed for something to happen in the New Year and that this does work out as it is a dream job for many, myself included! It's not a "thanks, but no thanks", but it is still a "carry on waiting".

Mesh - thank you very much again for clarifying the situation. Keeping everything crossed for some good news sometime next year!

go around flaps15 11th Dec 2012 14:16

Guys I have a notification but I can't seem to open it. When it says to view this message click here, it will not open. Anyone having the same trouble?

Centreline747 11th Dec 2012 14:40

Monarch anyone

go around flaps15 >>

Yes had same problem, but is just as woolyalan, post 654 says; we're still on hold, next news early(ish) 2013.

Cheers mesh for the update too. :D

Go around flaps,

Just go and log in directly on the monarch recruitment site and you'll find the latest update within your application bit. Those email links never seem to work for me either.

Superpilot 13th Dec 2012 00:40
