frozenpilot 7th May 2013 15:49

I know of a few who have been called

1000ft Cruiser 7th May 2013 17:07

I know of one person who has started at MON recently but he is A320 rated.

mesh 7th May 2013 17:34

Yep people being called now. Management going through the 1000 cv's we have on file but still taking personal recommendations so if you know someone get them to have a word. Approximate 70 more FOs plus 20 ish CTC/mpl

Crosswind Limits 7th May 2013 18:01

Ok thanks Mesh and others. Now anxiously waiting for news!

RoyHudd 7th May 2013 20:32

330 entry jobs, or is it a seniority-based type move? Do 330 FO's get paid more than 320's?

CEJM 7th May 2013 20:53

A330 flying is purely done on seniority. 1 payscale for all, no matter what you are flying.

hobnobanyone 8th May 2013 06:27

Mesh,

Thank you very much for the update. Will keep everything crossed to hear something this time around.

Dct_Mopas 8th May 2013 08:40

Just a heads up, the number being used to call people is an 0871 one.

Nearly ignored the call as thought it was yet another spam call.

Jumbo2 8th May 2013 09:01

Is it rated people who are getting the calls at the moment or is it a mixture?

Dct_Mopas 8th May 2013 09:32

Jumbo, I'm rated with 1500hrs on type and got the call this morning.

woolyalan 8th May 2013 10:07

Well... my day is ruined!
I'll now probably spend the whole time sitting and staring at my phone, willing it to ring! Although I've got this this horrible feeling I'll be majorly disappointed :(

What Now 8th May 2013 10:39

You are not alone

Woolyalan, this will be no consolation but you are not alone. I'm sweating like a marine sitting a spelling test.:yuk:

gorter 8th May 2013 21:07

I and a work colleague are both on hold both NTR and neither had the call yet. Doesn't mean that no NTR's have been called.

I posted this after father hacket but ended up before him

Father Jack Hackett 8th May 2013 21:42

Have any non-TR'd types been contacted yet?

hobnobanyone 8th May 2013 22:20

I spoke to someone ITK and apparently a non T/R course for later this year (he quoted September) is full already. Though he thinks that they were all from the interview passed pool.

Aside from that, I don't know of any other non T/Rs being contacted yet - certainly not from those I know who are swimming at the moment.

Father Jack Hackett 9th May 2013 13:11

Fingers crossed then....

Jumbo2 9th May 2013 13:15

Wonder how many are on "hold for interview", are we talking about tens or hundreds of pilots

smalljetpilot 9th May 2013 15:57

Jumbo2

Hundreds I suspect but hope I am wrong.....
Not good that the sept non tr course already full.
Wonder if/when we will get the promised interviews..
Bet lots of here are waiting on easy too.

JB007 9th May 2013 16:04

I recall from previous postings on here that the September courses were cadets!

PilotsOfTheCaribbean 9th May 2013 16:06

Wonder if/when we will get the promised interviews..
You were promised an interview?

Crosswind Limits 9th May 2013 16:27

I haven't checked my Monarch application recently but I seem to remember the words used were 'shortlisted for possible interview' or something like that.

1000ft Cruiser 9th May 2013 17:02

Just got an email from MON, they've offered me DEC on the A330 as a reward for being so patient. Nah, just kidding. I'm sat here watching my hair turn grey like everyone else.

At the risk of putting a pessimistic outlook on things for the NTRs but do MON actually need any NTR FOs? I'd have though they would have plenty of A320 rated guys applying, from places like Easy.

smalljetpilot 9th May 2013 17:43

Potc

Ok, possible then.
I was clearly being overly optimistic
Aah well fingers crossed.

Sprinkles 9th May 2013 20:54

@1000 cruiser,

Monarch could easily fill every opening with guys from Easy if they wanted. In fact one of the management in easy had a go at Balpa after they informed a load of flexi pilots Monarch were hiring last year. Because being paid £43 per scheduled block hour is so much more beneficial to ones blood pressure! :ugh:

Fortunately for cadets and non type rated guys, Monarch seem to like a mixture of guys coming in. Thus provides an equal opportunity for every back ground. To date i've flown with a cadet straight from CTC, an ex Harrier pilot and an ex Bmi 737 skipper while acting as safety pilot. To their credit, they were all to a similar standard when flying (operating) the bus for the first time.

Been reliably told of 60 more guys being hired for the next year and i'm pretty sure it will again be a fair mixture. Cadets, ex easy type rated guys, ex mil & non type rated guys from the likes of flybe, bmi et al.

I forecast training to carry on throughout summer or until July/August at the earliest and to kick off again in Oct/Nov. Chances are it may run for the whole year. It's almost like being part time for us normal line pilots. :}

Good luck to all that have apply. :ok:

captplaystation 10th May 2013 07:42

Have a colleague who is non TR (few hundred 737 hrs) joining September.
It seems according to him they have fairly ambitious expansion plans over the next few years, & that finance is "not a problem".

Superpilot 10th May 2013 08:36

Anybody know of anyone who despite being in the hold pool since last year has had a rejection in recent days? I guess what I'm trying to find out is if people are getting the nod or chop as Monarch are crunching through the applications or if the 'rejects' are going to be blasted by one big F-off PFO at the same time? :\

greywind 10th May 2013 09:54

Is there any guarantee of hearing either way? I don't recall hearing of any official communication to everyone in the hold pool that recruitment is happening again, the only news I've heard of it has been on here.

BugSpeed 12th May 2013 16:47

Non-bus rated long-term (2008) swimmers are being contacted for interviews ASAP.

1000ft Cruiser 14th May 2013 12:55

Have I read that right? People have been swimming in the MON hold pool for 5 years? Ouch.

Love_joy 14th May 2013 13:21

I understand non-rated swimmers from last years process are also getting the call up. Courses allocated for Sept/Oct

Before anyone asks, I'm not one of the lucky ones...

Superpilot 18th May 2013 08:21

So that's it for now? Thought a big net was about to be thrown into the pool.

Pork chop express 18th May 2013 12:47

There were Non-TR courses running up to March this year so i wouldn't write your chances off just yet because Sept / Oct courses are allocated. :ok:

UKPILOT2013 21st May 2013 15:54

Interview Recently?

Anyone who has been interviewed recently care to share their experience?:ok:

RAFAT 22nd May 2013 02:05

Most people who have a genuine interest in joining Monarch know more or less how the interview is conducted, it's not something that requires a great deal of analysis.

I don't mean that to sound blunt, but it is one of the best and most sensible selection processes in aviation at the moment.

99jolegg 22nd May 2013 09:51

Some more recent applicants from TRed people have been called for interview this week / next week.

mesh 22nd May 2013 10:24

This thread is quite large now guys so it would be wise to have a good read through before moving forward. I know I and numerous others have posted many points regarding Monarch and what we are up to. Just to answer the previous question though about our interviews. As we have grown quite quickly in the last couple of years so we have become part of a larger HR mix. This adds an element that to a certain degree leaves the perfect answer open. As I have stated before, if you are experienced you MAY not be asked as many tech questions as a lesser experienced guy. If you have a pilot and an HR person you may be given more 'BA' type questions, etc give me an example etc etc. The simple answer is do as much research and spend as much time as possible thinking what if's. Then on the day if you get a hard interviewer who has just found out his wife is going over the side with her boss you will be able to cope with the  pile of abuse he gives you. More than likely you will come out thinking ", why did I do all that work,it was such a nice interview....but you will get the job. Having done a few interviews in my time you spot with one or two questions a potential poor candidate. Then you prod them a bit more to see what they are made of. Some have done the work and either nerves got to them and they say something stupid, others haven't a clue. Lets put it this way. joining us at the moment is amongst IMHO one of the best positions going. Similar to doing a command sim. Some have one shot, others are lucky enough to have more but would you seriously walk into the sim thinking 'this will be a walk over, no need for any prep as I have so and so examiner and they just want a chat and the basics?
Not a rant but please, if you get a shot at the title put 100% into the prep. If you don't get the job at least your next sim and tech refresher will go well :)

MESH

Speaking on behalf of all the 'swimmers', many thanks for all of your useful posts. The information you have provided along the way has been much appreciated. If I ever get the chance to meet you in person you will certainly get a beer or two from me!! Cheers

mesh 23rd May 2013 13:26

Sounds good to me :ok:

Field In Sight 26th May 2013 10:49

PFO for me.
7000hrs Total.
(6000hrs A320,21,330). All at Monarch. i.e. I already work here.
Just about to start Command line training too.

Still not nice to get, even if it was a mistake.

Good luck to everyone.

SpamCanDriver 26th May 2013 14:36

Huh???

Was it a PFO from a previous application??

Haha thats pretty funny!
