It appears that all the courses up to April have been filled, 10 new FO's every month starting from September and as mesh said, a third a320 rated, a third non rated and a third cadets, as well as 4 onto the 757.
Not sure how many places are left on the April/may courses but I wouldn't imagine too many as I know we've been interviewing a lot in the last couple weeks. Nice to see so much enthusiasm for our little airline, it really is a top place to work. :) |

Many thanks Alpha-Charlie, I shall sit and wait! Yes it is promising that at last non rated are considered! It's obvious an airline would favour rated as less cost and less time, also potentially no training risk, one would like to think! And low houred guys, well they may be a training risk, but once qualified they would do the same job for less money (so they should as they have less experience)... But it looks like a common sense approach to recruitment can't argue with that!

I actually just spoke to someone at Monarch, very helpful lady, they are about half way through the applications. Some are being held for holding pool, places still available for courses this year, and more available from spring 2013. Could take a month or so for responses. So if your in the 'active application' stage will all just have to hope and wait

My application changed last week from "Active" to "Hold". Has anyone got any idea what "Hold" means?

What arrived on your doormat? I happen to agree that Monarch isn't a safe gamble but if you want to stay in the UK and are currently on FlexiCrew then you are between a rock and hard place at the moment.

We have currently recruited 90 odd for the positions available. So why the hold pool? I have it on good authority that come October we may have obtained some other aircraft that would require more crews. Monarch as a lot of airlines, are currently in some big negotiations for contracts that will bring considerable business to the group and will require more hulls. I cant obviously go into what contracts but it seems the first 100 new FO's may be scratching the surface....fingers crossed for all 'holders'

Just got 2 emails from Monarch which I was unable to open so went to the application page and it seems I am on "hold" as of 21st August.
Reading the attached message on my application page it appears that I am on hold for a possible interview sometime in the future! ;) |
Hi Crosswind - as per WingoWango's post above, it would seem you've passed the screening and they will be in touch when numbers are decided for next year. If you click on display all details the full message will become available!

has all the up to date payscales. For those joining with low hours, promotion(?) to SFO occurs at 1000 factored hours, I think it's x 0.9 for other airline flying and x 0.4 for flying school stuff. :) |

Got same email and also got a feeling everyone who is in the system but hasn't received a rejection to date has now been updated to status "hold". Being the pessimist that I have (unwillingly) become in recent years, I think this is just a friendly way of them saying "we've been through enough applications now, we'll continue the chopping exercise in 2013".
Unless that is someone can tell me that many more rejections have gone out since the beginning of this week? |

Well a mate of mine who applied at the same time I did got a rejection message on his application page yesterday so it appears not everyone is on hold!

I wouldn't think too much into hold, hold for interview and any difference. Basically we have nearly got the 100 but maybe interviewing for new positions end 2012 start 2013 and then those on hold will be called forward

Monarch are hoovering up 757 pilots as fast as they can interview them.
If the T's & C's out there are not up to scratch, it would be a safe bet to say that some airlines might find themselves a few crew short very soon. |

I got the email yesterday 'Hold'. Couldnt open it as there is a problem with their link. But you can check the message as discussed above on your individual application. They still have places left for this year, but are waiting for company final decisions to determine their need for courses next year. So basically guys if you have 'hold', we are in a holding pool!! So lets hope they need to fish pilots out of that pool for the future.
Btw: Im non-rated, 3600 total, 2000 Boeing 737, 1400 regional jet. |
Email here too. Although mine came about from a paper application which I submitted just prior to the online process opening. No mention of 'hold' on my email, just that they'd be in touch to arrange the next stage when they'd cofirmed the establishment numbers.
