The Crew, actually that's not correct, the amount of UK tax you will pay depends on your country of residence, if a DTA exists and how the UK see your tax status:

You will normally always be stopped your NI in the UK as this is paid by the employer and the employee, social security benefits can usually be transferred to your country of residence.
In the UK if you are a " tax payer" the UK HMRC will give you a tax code which allows for a tax free amount. If you are non resident you will not get this allowance.

You can contact the UK HMRC helpline, as for the " non-resident" section and they will clear the fog.. +44 135 535 9022

So, seems that the process is ongoing. I have received an email that sounded like "be patient and wait". The screenings are spreaded along the whole coming year, but no chance to have exact dates or periods. I guess how people can organize their roster, their days off in order to participate to the selection.
Is not like Ryanair that catches unemployed students and call them also for the day after, here there is people who lives in all over the world and they needs infos in advance to move back to Europe.
Btw wait and be patient. There is really nothing to do.

Can someone that has any idea give a realistic time too upgrade from relief captain.
Also what would be the net salary if you don't live in the uk.

I believe it takes longer now for new-joiners than it took the first two years until today. We have pilots that started as FO that have already upgraded to RCA and now upgrade to CPT. This is possible because there is a seniority system, and Norwegian is following it. No exception.
My guess, if you join now as RCA, is that it will take at least three years. But I can be wrong. Can be less. Upgrade is strictly based on seniority, and for internal CPT upgrade you'll need 6000 hours of which 1000 on wide body. Until now, about 50% of all pilots that can upgrade (i.e. all FO and RCA) have already upgraded. Norwegian takes good care of their pilots in that sense. Well, that's what I believe anyway. Other operators stop upgrades and only take direct entries. Norwegian on B787 fleet has minimized direct entries on behalf of internal upgrades.

If you're LGW based expected to be bounced out of Scandinavia for up to two weeks so they don't have to give you home base days off. This might change as more 787s go onto the UK register.
The S2 ticket system on Norwegian is very good .. the rostering is awful.
I don't think any Norwegian 787 pilot would argue with that!

All I really need to know if I was firstly successful getting a job and secondly being based in lgw. How many days could one expect at home say in Italy.
Lastly how much would it cost me inclusive of hotac prior too flights and standby travel to get home.

So the contract is the pilot is the employee of UK crewing, An agency set up by Rishworth. Itself n agency.
The employer ( UK rewing) then contracts the pilot out to the "client" , who not Norwegian but Norwegian Singapore Private Ltd .

TnCs as stated in the email info they will have sent you. Thats it. Basic plus allowances which must be claimed, not paid automatically. A lot of paperwork.
Contract fine print, is very one sided, not in your favour. You work for a UK agency, working for the employer, and sub contracted to NLH Singapore Pte ltd.
