Well i've been here for over 5 years and yes some of the smaller things could so easily be better. But i do about 500 hours a year for just under £3,000 a month, and i am left alone to get on with my job, as are my friends and colleagues who are all nice decent folk. Just my observation based upon what i have seen.

A question... about requirements for non type rated DECs, the Jet2 website says:
"A minimum of 3,000 flying hours, of which 1,000 hours must be command time on a medium to heavy commercial or military multi-crew, multi-engine jet or heavy multi-crew, multi-engine turbo-prop aircraft"
Does anybody know what their cut off point for a "heavy" turboprop is? Would this mean aircraft like the Hercules or Electra, or would a Q400 be "heavy" enough at 29,000Kgs?
Thanks in advance.

Can anyone in Jet2 inform me if they insist on 1000 hours jet command time for DEC? I currently have 500 command on A319/A320, but i am type rated on 737NG with 750 hrs RHS, 6000 TT. Only really interested in a NCL base.

Don't hold your breath
With 7500 hours on the B737 (5000 in command) I put an application into Jet2 at the start of the year, apart from the email to say they had receved the application I have had no further contact.
I can only think that they don't need pilots or the personel department can't get it's act together.

Thanks for the info about the applications that go missing I was surprized that I had not got even a "no thank you" note from Jet2.
In the end it was all for the best as I now have a LGW based job so no need to buy a flat cap & whippet.

And why was she sacked? The website seems OK.
No obvious conflict of interest, so I'm a little confused. Lots of people in our industry have such businesses on the side. Not saying I agree with the need for them, or some of their motives, but this is not exactly a hanging offence.

510orbust...Why do you ask ?
And because you ask then you don't know Jet2 and never will.....Lets just say I'm now involved in the major uncontrollable cost in Aviation and smile when I see the facts go across my desk . I am thankful that I can pick and choose and that OGEM is where its at...
Arthur Daley economics...luv it...I can see the bunting hanging outside LFFH now...Classic 737's never raced or rallied with a quick spray over/ filler and a new m.o.t, sold by a slick salesman who has been a GDF' er
As for running a business on the side....plenty of that going on from aircraft brokering offshore , G.S equipment sold to Gadafi Duck, Engineering manpower contractors....It is the way of the world, some are better at doing it than others. I mean who would flog Spanish chocolate off a market barrow...I'm sure J.L is a lot happier running her own show.
Tut tut A+C, 7000 Hrs on B737 Classics and NG...and an ex-employee...you know full well where that application went when e-mailed to Human Remains. I mean, they were sending mobile phone texts to the Stansted flight crew today ( they were made redundant 14 months ago) asking if they could come in tomorrow and help out with the volcano flight disruptions
Yes it needs tweaking Tonker...The herd definitely needs trimming...time for the thrusting young bucks to come up with another 5 year plan lol !

In that case there's something not right with the Jet2 assessment/recruitment process because I've heard from the inside that they've really been scraping the barrel in terms of who they can recruit due to the lack of suitable pilots, resulting in some problems and chopping going on in initial training. I refuse to believe that if there were 3000 applications.
I guess it's more a case of a lack of suitable applicants who were also prepared to pay for a type rating and/or be bonded and/or be on a crappy 70% contract.

Got the same e-mail today......
it is the second in a couple of weeks, this one asking me to reapply in July(the first one said to do it in June) as they were not able to progress my application further due to the high number of applicants.
Let's try again!

I was one of the very early casualties of the last recruitment drive who gave too many 'no' responses when they were (at first) playing hard ball with regard to the factors mentioned above. I'm sure many other capable and suitably qualified people, who stuck to their guns, also fell by the wayside.
I spoke to their very helpful HR department last week and was told that all recruitment for this year was complete and the next 'drive' would start towards the end of the summer. I was invited to reapply when the system was up and running.
It would appear that if you went out at that awful phone interview stage there appears to be no reason recorded by Jet2's system as to why your application was not progressed.

Regarding the next intake of pilots later in the year. Do people think they will take on any 250 hour fATPL's. I heard they had but with a large payment for the TR, then they decided to go for the Mil pilots instead.
Is it a case that eventually the Mil & qualified pilot supply will run out and also the fATPL's willing to pay £15000+ for the TR? Whats the chances of them ever taking on low hours recently qualified pilots again and paying their TR's?
Regards
