Fair enough mate but if you start them in May on a 7 month on, 5 month off 70% contract then they finish in December, so during November and December when your 100% contract pilots don't have a great deal of work then you dilute the pool with all these extra guys.

Staff travel on Jet2 flights only - no interline agreements. Hardly worth the trouble. Better and probably cheaper just to book on ezjet. CEO and MD have no interest in staff travel.

staff travel
Actually once you get the hang of the system it's ok. I use it between 3 and 5 times a year and have done since 2003. I travel with my family at peak times, ie Easter, summer holidays and half terms etc, and so far have always got seats. There are some tweaks that'd make it a better system that unfortunately the management don't seem interested in even though they'd be no cost, and more importantly a small amount of extra revenue.
As for whether 70%ers would be eligible for staff travel, I don't know, you'd have to ask for the contract of employment. The required service for entry into the system is 6 months.

But what about the recruitment?
All this chat about staff travel is useful information - if you have been made an offer!
Has anybody received any phone calls or rejection letters after the October interviews for TR and non-TR Captains and First Officers?

I know personally 5 who went to the interviews, two were called for a sim ride. Thereafter one had to do SHL psychometric tests.
Otherwise no-one has heard anything, neither a yes or no, including one of sim assessed guys.
Despite promises to phone everyone by the end of the week (two weeks expired, and we were the last assessment day) and emails to them, it has all been very quiet.
I note they still have their recruitment page open, and are recruiting contractors via an agency. All those yet to be called have other stuff in the pipeline and therfore Jet2 may miss out if they don't hurry up, although I suspect if you haven't heard you should fear the worst.
Good luck to all

I had an interview in December last year, and it took them 6 or 7 weeks to get round to telling me the result.
Have any rated 737 FOs been interviewed yet?
Is the contract recruitment being handled by Zenon Recruitment by any chance? I noticed on the FLight Global Jobs site that Zenon are recruiting for 737-300 rated crews for a UK airline with several UK bases. I doubt that it is BMI Baby, the only other operator of vintage Boeing metal.

A friend of mine called them earlier this week and was informed that all the contracts for the mid-October interviews were with the HR Director for counter-signing and they would call everyone, whither it be successful or unsuccessful, at some point this week.

Its a bit odd, because at least 2 of the people that I was at the assessment day with, were offered contracts last week.
I spoke to them (Jet2) last Monday, ie 10 days ago, and they said I'd be called at the end of that week. A week later and still heard nothing.
Surely a simple generic email from them to let us know whats going on wouldn't be too much to ask.
Communication, or the lack of, is the most frustrating and annoying thing.

With reference to my earlier post and the fact its now 4:30 on Friday afternoon. I seriously think there needs to be a memo circulated around Low Fare Finder House advising employees on how to manage expectations.
2 things are certs in aviation:
Don't believe anything about new aircraft arriving until you are on board said aircraft and hear "V1".
Whatever an airline executive tells you with respect to timescales, budgets or savings, multiply it by at least 3. Also buy shares in Malvern Sea Salt as your initial investment will be repaid tenfold.

I spoke to Casey at 2pm today ( I know they finish at 3pm). he was very pleasant, and advised me that they were waiting on the application being processed by HR. As and when they are passed back to him and his team, the applicant are phoned with a decision.
He said that not being contacted yet is neither a definite yes or no, just that they haven't got through them all yet.
I asked about the further interviews that were being done next week. He said they are for type rated candidates, and have no effect on the non type rated applicants. Quite how that can be true, I'm not sure, but I'll take him at his word, until proven otherwise.
He wouldn't be drawn on a timescale for a decision, as he is aware that other deadlines have come and gone.
Even though I'm sure he is sick of getting phonecalls from people like me, he was very pleasant. I guess we'll just have to have a bit more patience.
Have a good weekend y'all.

From what I can gather, their cunning plan is to recruit a number of cadets [restricted in numbers by the CAA], non TR, TR, and contract guys for S.11
The training machine will be fully occupied this winter. Do they really want to deal with so many non TR people? Depends how brave they are feeling.......or pushed by management??
So, on the balance of probability, what jockflyer was told by Casey Prince is correct, in so far what he has been told by his management. That is not to say that the percentages might change depending what is actually on offer.
Notwithstanding what they would like to happen in the ideal world for their recruiting, the market place might have a few surprises next year.
Offers accepted at this stage will not, in all cases, translate into appearing on the due date. With a week or so to go, HR will get phone calls saying.....erh sorry, going elsewhere. The tide is turning.............

N2S's post there is right on the money.
I for one am a little exacerbated and frustrated by the way Jet2 have gone about this whole recruitment process. Even Peter Pan left Neverneverland. It's been manifested by current employees posting on here their embarrassment at what they've been asked to do or witnessed.
On the day I was impressed at the approachability of almost everyone there. The timescales that were relayed to me seemed adequate. I also feel certain that the management pilot who interviewed me was sincere in his estimation. I am in no doubt though that there has been some outside interference at some point in the past few weeks for whatever reason.
I think many forget how much dignity and relief you can offer a candidate by offering them employment. It allay's financial fear and gives structure to their life and allows a degree of forward planning. I wouldn't mind that as I now go into my third weekend after jumping every time I hear my phone go off. Why its taking so long is beyond me and if I'm honest, leaving a bad taste.
Carlsberg don't do bad recruitment drives ...... But if they did ..... Jet2 would eclipse them.
