It shows dedication and commitment as well when you can't be ar5ed to come up with some new answers....

If you don't get through again do you fancy asking yourself whether or not it was because you didn't make enough of an effort?

If you made it past the initial screening phase on your first attempt but did not pass the selection at some later stage (e.g. interview), then I fail to see the point in re-scripting your answers to the questions, should you wish to apply a second time.

The answers to the questions would still be the same, so why change them? Perhaps a review of the answers you initially submitted would be more efficient.

After all, the answers you gave on the first attempt were good enough to get you past the screening phase. Why would they not be good enough the second time around? If you are content with your answers then stick by them, and if challenged in an interview as to why you didn't change them (which I don't think you will be) then tell them just that ... that you are content with them and agree with everything you scripted from your first application.

I seriously doubt whether the selectors will be milling over your past submissions to see if you have changed your answers. Besides, even if they do, I do not think it will rank high on their "BA material / non-BA material" selection criteria.

On the other hand ... if what you wrote for your first application was a load of old tosh ... then perhaps you might want to think again.

Happy flying

Hi everybody,

I've realized I did a mistake in my online application when it had been submitted already. When I log in I see the system still consents to do changes. Does it mean they still have to take the application into evaluation and one is still on time to correct an eventual mistake or does it have no effect on the submitted application?

Thanks

Demob

I actually put quite alot of thought about the subject, structure and content into my answers last year - what would be the point of changing them just for the sake of showing a different answer. I agree that I should review them for any changes to relevant information but I don't see the point in altering them for changes sake if they are still the most apt answers to the questions and had me selected for an interview last time round. (The fact I c0cked the interview up is obviously something to work on!!)

I was wondering if anyone had used the same or very similar answers before and whether it had been remarked on.

Lafyar

I'm sure you did put in a lot of effort for your last attempt and I'm sorry to hear the interview didn't go as well as it could have done

Just expressing my view that as you're effectively applying again, you may wish to treat the whole thing as a new application. If you don't get asked back, fancy sitting asking yourself why it was you weren't?

Good luck either way.

Can one apply to BA as a DEP without an ATPL (i.e. holds CPL/IR/MCC with required hours on type.)

The main page on the BA site states:

Requirements

You will need:

An ATPL(F) with at least 1000 hours recent experience on a turbojet/turboprop transport category aeroplane with a MTOM greater than 10 tonnes or an approved passenger seating configuration of not less than 20 passengers.

OR

A current type rating on either the Airbus A320 series or Boeing 737, with an ATPL(F) and a minimum of 500 hours recent experience on type.
This leads me to believe that an ATPL is not a requirement.

However the questions before the application form ask:

Do you have a full JAA/CAA ATPL? (If you hold a non UK issued ATPL, you will be required to change the state of licence issue to the UK).
Answering 'No' to this question prevents you going any further.

Can anyone clarify?

Thanks

You do not need an ATPL! If one did neither I nor hundreds of others would be working right now. Indeed, after two years in the company I have only now upgraded my licence to ATPL.

I applied this year again (my second time) and of my four answers three were the same as last time, and the fourth was only slightly changed as the question had changed to what I believe was a different angle of the same question. The last time I got to interview stage and this time have been lucky enough to pass all and be successful and have been given a course date on the Airbus.

From my experience above I think if you're re-applying and you look at your answers and you cannot make them any better then you should go with them. Obviously we all put a lot of work into these answers and as long as they are still relevant to both you and the question then I can't see why you couldn't use them.

Best of luck

Well done proxy. Out of interest, how long from the 'well done in the sim' call to receiving a course date, and how much of a gap until the course itself?

Thanks.

Re-Application

I would like to back up what 'Proxypilot' has said. This year, 3 out of the 4 questions were identical, and after much debate I decided to leave the content of my answers to those the same, with only very minor grammar changes, and moving a few sentences around. The 4th question, well that required a brand new answer!

If they were good enough last time, then they will be good enough this time...but rather than taking a couple of weeks to perfect them last time, ti was only a couple of days this time.

Worked for me, got a start date coming up early in the New Year

Merry Christmas everyone, and good luck!

PS at the moment, 150 pilots required every year for the next five.

Had the sim before Christmas, as a result won't find out my fate till after the new year. So as i sit here for the next 2 weeks going over every single event in my head, I wonder has anyone managed to get through with a less than perfect sim?

My story in a nutshell, good NHP/PM and decent HP/PF.

My sector consisted of a good interactive briefing, accurate departure and standard en route section (communication, sharing mental models etc)
My only real concern is my arrival brief wasn't too great, bit too much detail and found myself not really getting into a flow(repeated myself a bit) I handed over control as I briefed and set up for the app, but probably as a result of my brief; our capacity was somewhat reduced. We turned inbound to the hold and found ourselves 3 miles south of the hold. ATC gave us a vector downwind for a LOC/DME app which was well flown, just until we became visual. Creeped into 4 whites, go-around.

Anyone had a similar scenario and been successful?

Cheers randomair

1st Interview at BA

Thanks to all who have put so much useful information on this thread, it's a great source of information.

I have been fortunate enough to be invited down to Cranebank for my first interview on 11 Feb.
Does anyone have any recent (last 6 months) experience of the selection process? Are there any others going for the same day?

Happy New Year and good luck to you all!

Fintastic - god luck in Feb. The 11th is a lucky day - had my assessment and sim on the 11th and somehow got through! Honestly, the assessment hasn't (well, hadn't in September) fundementally changed since Loc made his excellent first post. Think about your experiences and how they might relate to the sorts of questions they are likely to ask, rather than specific answers to specific questions. A bit of background gen on the company helps too.

Good luck!

Fintistic - did mine on the 17th dec and as mentioned above most of the info on here is still valid...one question in the interview which threw me tho that I can remember:

Give us an example of a time when you've had to compromise customer service with operational management in your current role?
(Not exact wording)

This one really threw me so one worth thinking about in the prep for your interview.
