Interesting aircraft - what have you seen on your computer today?

Thanks Chinooker re F-16s! Didn't hear the AN-12 last night, hope my hitherto excellent hearing is not failing!

Ah, I was actually in the back of a Wetherspoons pub at 8.35am enjoying a last cup of coffee there with a friend - she is away next week and sadly the pub is closing on the 27th... so, nope, missed it!

Unusual inhabitants of the Biggin hold this morning were a Finnair A330 and an SAS A320. Things looked quite busy between Lambourne and 09L at Heathrow at the time!

Pleased to report my hearing seems to be working OK, picked up the unsynchronised dulcet tones (unmistakable!) of an Islander departing Biggin this morning from inside a Selsdon pub four miles away, and could also hear a Spit orbiting over Cudham east of the airfield later on (holding for an inbound Challenger on the 21 ILS with a break off to land on 03...)
IL 76 when driving into Aqaba this afternoon, unmarked as far as I could see. A bit of my normal patch. Be interested to know who’s it was.
Cheers

Love the return of these clear skies at last : at 21:25 over Bracknell Cargojet C-GAJG 9000 feet heading west after a Easterly take off from LHR love the noise of a 767 , and at 21:30 a Boeing C-17A Globemaster III 04-4131 United States ( East heading ) direct from the USA McGuire air force base (New Jersey) . Looked great ! at 20,000 feet over Bracknell , direct into , assume Mildenhall..

Nice to see Rapide G-AIDL giving the thrill seekers a trip along the Thames as far as Westminster from Duxford. An aeroplane close to my heart as I had a ride in her from Biggin Hill with Mike Hood - our trip was up to the Thames Barrier and the Greenwich Peninsular; we might have gone as far west as London Bridge but I can't recall; very nearly 40 years ago now!
Speaking of joyrides, the Islander I mentioned departing Biggin yesterday appears to be doing rides out of Shoreham. Never flown in one, hmmmm....

On Farthing Downs south of Coulsdon and I can hear the Islander heading back into Biggin! Perhaps in deference to my lug 'oles...
PS would that be a Britten-Norman Ear Defender?

BNED's, you could be onto something! My experiences were in a tropical setting, so it could well be that any operating in more temperate climes might well have extra insulation against the cold, which in turn might well reduce the sound/vibrations to tolerable limits.
That Islander (Air Alderney logos) has been going round and round and up and down for the last couple of days at Shoreham. Gone back to Biggin this afternoon.
