PAL would certainly hire ex-PAF pilots, if "ex" will be understood as already resigned from the service. for obvious reasons, however, they are cautious in hiring "current" or "active" PAF pilots...

Grrr Amazing !!!!

Wow !!!!
You turned down an interview with EK? don't let the guys in the EK middle east forum hear about this!! You just might add fuel to their fires !! After all, people are leaving EK in droves right? (according to them).

Semper fi, just to clarify with you that i used the term "didn't push thru" as it is more diplomatic than "turned down". There's a bit of sarcasm to your post, especially when you put a big "Wow!" and "Amazing!" to it when all i did was simply post a reply to Mr Jetcruiser's query. It was a straightforward answer to a straightforward question without any hint of prejudice or touch of airiness as it might have seemed to you.

Frankly speaking, i did receive phone calls as well as emails from EK recruitment staff asking me to come for interview. But in the end I decided to stay put as things here in my present outfit have had tremendous changes during the past several weeks leading to my supposedly forthcoming interview with them last Dec. And in case you don't know, my salary now is almost comparable to that of an EK jock, and even to yours at EY.

Sorry to burst your bubble, semper fi, but i take your comments a bit way off the mark. Flying with EK seems to be everybody's dream job that being invited for interview just makes it too hard to pass up, but I don't hold that view anymore. I would be too naive to say that I didn't apply and wished to be with EK, but that was before I came here to work in my present outfit. But having come to grips with the realities here, my perspective has changed drastically, and therefore, and again without prejudice, I must tell you that at the end of the day I exclusively reserve to myself the right to say - "Thanks, but no thanks".

WoW !!

Hello EXP,

well, a little bit of clarification here.
First of all I did not mean to demean your refusal to accept EK's offer for an interview as anything against you or your character. In fact I meant it to be a compliment to you that you turned down an offer from one of the world's "supposedly" best airlines. Kudos to you for being so up front. I hope you know how to read between the lines a bit more, and review my statement carefully, it was more likely aimed at the growing number of people who are now working at a great airline (EK) yet see fit to just lambast them day in and day out. It just got a bit tedious reading all the negative posts about EK, I know a few people there and have the notion that they are completely happy being in Dubai.

If I struck a tender chord about what I said I'm sorry. I am man enough to say that in front of the readership of Prune without any qualms about it. I just didn't mean it the way you percieved it to be.

Again, good for you that you are happy with where you are, as for me, I am my own person and choose to be where I am like yourself. I just think you percieved my statement in the wrong way.

nuff said!!

No problem, dude! Maybe I just overlooked your real intentions, and I apologize for that as well.

Happy flying!

quick question

sorry to interrupt sirs...

Is there an age limit for joining PAL as F/O or S/O considering you meet the required total hours and training (IR)? what if one don't have a ME rating but with IR? Because I am building my hours here in the mid-east as an FI/Scenic tour pilot and I am bonded for a couple of years. By the time I complete my contract, I will be 29-30 yrs. Can I still make it?

Thank you sirs and more power!!!

Hi A6, well your age is ok, where exactly do you fly in the mid-east, you dont have to divulge your company.

Direct entry requiremtents are CPL with FI and at least 1200 hours. All time will be considered if the horspower rating of your aircraft is above 500hp, below that, it is halved. Still, the S/O's in PR have less than your time but do come from the Aviation School, that is why they are given first crack.

Nothing wrong with sending your CV to flight ops anyway. Worse that can happen is they put you on a hold pool till you accumulate the min hours, nothing ventured nothing gained is the rule here.

Hope this info helps, any other PR drivers out there in Prune land who want to add to my statements please feel free to help, I may not have the right numbers for A6.

happy landings.

Thank you and good day

Hi A6,

So, how did you ended up in the desert? You're quite young to be doing Instructing in that Region, Are you a Pinoy by birth and migrated in the States or is Dubai your homeland? Sorry for the questions, but you failed to mention your Nationality from your previous post.

Semper fi,
Are you still flying as a Capt in PAL?

Jc,

Ako po ay isang tunay na pinoy, born and raised in mla (apologies for not mentioning this earlier) I came here in dubai last year to seek for greener pastuers and fortunately found competent enough by me present company (Thank you Lord for answering my prayers)

Semper fi...Can you still tell me what you did with regards to your career advancement? I don't find it boring when one shares their experiences in life especially regarding aviation...you can also share yours JC if you don't mind, cause I want to learn from them

career advancement

Well guys, all I can say is that it takes some patience, a bit of hard work, time and most of all LUCK.

I've seen a lot of guys passed up and never been given the chance to be what they could be becuase of things beyond their control. Lets just say that just stay in there, persevere and pray.

Been on the 747, and then the airbus , a good 19 years I spent before making the jump to a new company. In the end all is good. It will be different for everyone but you have to put in the hours and deal with the hardship also.

So I am not one to say what would be good for the goose is good for the gander, because no two people are alike. Just go with your heart. Aim for the big one and someday you'll get it. Never lose sight of the goal.

copy that semper fi...

it seems I have to eat more rice so to speak That's why I don't mind flying under the blazing sun specially during the summer here (where temp could shoot up to 53 C.) just to reach my goal. I just hope and pray that all of the hard work will pay up...and that I will also be lucky

Thank you for that moral boosting advice

More power to you sir

Hi A6,
Copy that ...loud and clear,Pinoy ka nga. You must be really good to get the Job.
Batang GENAV din ako, i did plenty of instructing too, but flew only locally. Hard to beat yang nakuha mo, others are still Kicking tin cans sa Nichols. Saludo ako sa iyo!
Again, I started on GENAV flying, stayed there for 6 years including My initial training and then the airline.
Semper fi is definitely right, it does sometimes depends on the blow of the winds. Connectons, timing etc. You just have to be on the right spot at the right time.
Goodluck to you , Do you know that there are Filipino pilots working for Emirates and Air arabia? Well, i know they won't be of any help right now, because of your Present Qualifications, but it might be worth knowing that you have colleagues in there as well. Who knows, you might bump into one of them one of this days.
Keep flying and enjoy it

Semper fi,
19 years!!! wow, Senior na senior na pala kita. I bet pa-squattin mo na ako pagnakita mo ako in person. Sir!
I just wonder to whom are you "Forever faithful" as your Callsign defined it. Do you still need Airbus Capts on your present set-up?

Salamat po JC

I think I was lucky at the same time blessed when I got the job. Because 2 indian FI resigned already to join an airline in India when I actually walked-in to drop my CV, that's why they need replacements then...good timing din...

sir..were you based in mla, plaridel or clark when you were instructing? and then flew for a charter/cargo company in genav and eventually in the airline?

I do know that there are pinoy pilots in the Emirates and Etihad(thanks to PPRUNE) but not in Air Arabia...There are pinoy pilots flying in the business jets here for the rich and famous, and 2 (former PAF) flying F27's in a cargo company(these guys I know, and they actually know my FI in mla).

Will PAL or any airline from RP fly here in dxb?Cause I really wana see our national colors fly here...knowing about pinoy pilots fly for the foreign airlines just makes me proud to be pinoy, especially hearing them in the frequency when established in the localizer...like this RAK Airways UAE that prefers pinoy pilots

Fly safe...Goodluck to all of us and more power to all of you sirs

Angel Proud To Be Pinoy

HELLO A6, JC, SEMPER FI.... SORRY TO INTERRUPT YOUR TITILLIATING EXCHANGE OF INFORMATION BUT A6'S COMMENT JUST HIT ME AND I SAY.........

AMEN TO THAT !! MARRIED TO THE MOST BEAUTIFUL LADY FROM SOUTH OF MANILA,(EX PHILIPPINE AIR LINES FOR 8 YEARS),HAVE FOUR(4) WONDERFUL KIDS, VERY RELIGOUS SO I WILL SWEAR TO SPEAK THE TRUTH....AND IF I CANNOT, I WILL NOT CONSUMMATE SO WITHOUT LYING.

I HAVE MET A LOT OF YOUR KABAYANS IN GULF AIR(CAME FROM THERE), EK(HERE RIGHT NOW) AND ETIHAD(BEEN THERE TOO).

I DO KNOW LIFE IN THE PHILIPPINES CAN BE PENURY BUT THESE EGREGIOUS PEOPLE HAVE ONE TRAIT TOTALLY AMAZING, THE ZEST FOR LIFE AND A VERY EASY ATTITUDE.

TO MAKE MY POINT BRIEF, I THINK IT IS THE 'CRAB MENTAILITY' THAT PUTS YOUR KIND DOWN....THE IRONIC PART IS THAT I HAVE SEEN HOW EX JOCKS FROM PAL PERFORM IN THIS REGION.... GULF AIR HAD THESE GUYS IN THE 320'S, VERY PROFESSIONAL, SKILLED, AND QUITE PLEASANT TO FLY WITH.... MOST OF THEM ARE NOW IN THE 340'S JUST AWAITING FOR THEIR LEFT SEAT AND I AM SURE IT WONT BE LONG... THEY ARE BONDED AS WELL SO IT IS BUT PRUDENT TO OPT TO STAY RATHER THAN PAY!!

HERE IN EK, I HAVE NOT FLOWN WITH YOUR KABABAYANS BUT I AM SURE IT WILL BE A GREAT AFTERNOON TEA TIME... I DO KNOW THAT QATAR HAS EMPLOYED QUITE A LOT AS I DID MY INTERVIEW THERE, MET UP WITH ONE OF YOUR COLLEAGUES, NICE CHAP FROM THE 330. IF I RECALL, TWO OF YOUR EX 320 CAPTAINS HAVE NOW BEEN FLYING THE 330'S, AND SOON THE QUITE COVETED 340-600'S.

I DID A FEW RIDE WITH YOUR JOCKS IN ETIHAD AND I MUST SAY AND NOT SURPRISED AS WELL WHY THEY HAVE ENDED UP IN EFFECTVIE POSITIONS LIKE TRAINING, RECRUITMENT, AUDIT AND I HEARD SAFETY AND THE QUICK RESPONSE TEAM AS WELL.(THE MANAGER I BELEIVE IS ONE OF YOUR KABABAYANS AS WELL). EVEN IN THE CABIN CREW, I HAVE HAD THE PLEASANTRIES OF DOING CRM WITH 3 CHARMING FILIPINAS WHO SPEAK ENGLISH VERY WELL AND I MUST ADMIT ARE DOING A GREAT JOB IN THE SAFETY, HR AREA.!!

MY QUESTION IS BECAUSE I DO HAVE THE PRIVELEGE OF MEETING UP WITH A FEW TOP GUNS IN THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS AND YOUR ATO(MY WIFE IS QUITE AFFILIATED ), I DO GET DIFFERENT FEEDBACKS, LIES EVEN FROM YOUR FELLOW JOCKS, MANAGEMENT ALIKE(FROM PAL).....THEY CLAIM YOUR KIND IS PREJUDICED, LOOKED DOWN UPON, GIVEN SECOND CLASS STATUS....WELLL..... NOT AT ALL!! ASIANS HAVE BEEN HIGLY RESPECTED IN THE AIRLINE INDUSTRY. MALAYSIANS PLAY THE BIGGEST ROLE AND HAVE MAJORITY OF THE MANAGEMENT POSTIONS AS WELL SO WHY NOT THE FILIPINOS.

MOST GULF AIRLINES ADOPT THE NON-REPRISAL POLICY WHICH IS QUITE GENTLEMANLY, PERSPICACIOUS AND PROFESSIONAL I MUST SAY.

MOST OF THE FILIPINOS ARE HAPPY HERE, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO HAVE THEIR FAMILIES(EMPHASIS ON THE KIDS OF COURSE ... TAX IS FREE, YOU CAN HAVE THE FREEDOM TO GO TO SERVICE OR SUNDAY CHURCH, LESS CRIME AND POLUTION... SMELL THE BREEZE OF FRESH AIR!!

MY QUESTION IS WHY???WHY DO PEOPLE OF YOUR KIND SPREAD WRONG INFORMATION, ... AND WHY DO YOUR PEOPLE BELIEVE(OR MAYBE WANT TO BELIEVE.... )

JUST ROTTEN BREED...OR ARE THEY SYCOPHANTS???? OR AM I IN THE IMPRESSION IT IS A STRATEGY TO PLACATE OR SPREAD DECEITFUL, MALICIOUS, FALSE INFORMATION, JUST FOR THE HECK OF SAY FEELING GOOD FOR THEMSELVES, AND PERHAPS DISCOURAGING FUTURE CAREER SEEKERS..(ISSSSSNT THIS A SIGN OF DISHIEVELED PATHOLOGY PUTTING THE OTHER CHAP DOWN JUST TO MAKE ONE FEEL GOOD// ??

AND I QUOTE THE 8TH COMMANDMENT.........

THOU SHALT NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS AGAINST THY NEIGHBOR....

fly safe now...

mako
